Great location

Our family beach house since the 1970's, it has many traditional Australian beach house features and is filled with memories! It's located right on top of Merimbula's primary peninsula, long point, and a 2-3 minute walk away from beautiful bar beach.

The space
It's a traditional Australian beach house on Merimbula's prominent peninsula. The house sits between the calm waters of Merimbula bay and the wild ocean of Middle beach. The cliff top is prime viewing for whales during September and October.

The house has 2 bedrooms with a 3rd sleeping area upstairs with single beds.
2 bathrooms, one is an en-suite and an extra toilet.
2 living spaces, kitchen, laundry and 3 outdoor decks and outdoor shower. There's a deck upstairs with magnificent views over main beach and to Merimbula's hills and hinterland.

Where you’ll be

Merimbula, New South Wales, Australia

The beautiful beaches can be accessed by foot.
Middle beach is a 5 minute walk away but the track although stepped is quite steep.
It's an open ocean beach perfect for walking and it is also a dog friendly beach, it is a short walk down the hill.
Bar beach is towards the bay also a short 3-5 min walk and it has a kiosk which operates in season and is great for breakfast/brunch/lunch. The walk to bar beach is quite steep and not suitable for wheelchairs. Car access is easy and parking spaces are plentiful. There aren't too many more beautiful spots on the east coast of Australia than this.
Merimbula wharf is a 5 minute walk down a steep hill and has a platform for fishing or just enjoying the view. There's also a cafe/restaurant and aquarium at the wharf.
Local oysters (Pambula/Merimbula/Tathra) are sensational often winning many awards, we think they are the best in Australia.
For dinner we recommend Dulcie's Cottage in town. It's a wine bar with lots of charm. The food is burgers only but they're good!

Holidays are full of memories and I started coming to Merimbula when I was eighteen with my boyfriend, who is now my husband. We have shared many wonderful holidays with family and friends in the Long Point House. I love swimming down at Bar Beach and catching the current when it’s safe to do so. It's exciting and exhilarating to watch the stingrays glide around at Bar Beach and into Merimbula lake. Watching whales and dolphins is a wonderful experience which is easy to do as the house is so close to the ocean. It is fantastic being so close to all the wonderful national parks, some of my favorite places are , Ben Boyd National Park and Haycock Point . Mimosa National Park, especially Nelsons inlet and Bithreys. We eat the Pambula oysters which are delicious, we take the drive to Broadwater on Pambula Lake and get them freshly opened. When I'm back in Merimbula I walk to Short Point Beach with our dog Bruce, and then take the track back along the rocks to Middle Beach and then home for breakfast on the back deck. We often enjoy a drink or dinner on the front deck and a stroll into town to get a coffee or the paper. We lived in England for 3 years were I completed my midwifery and absolutely loved traveling to many and various countries. I live in Melbourne and I am a school nurse and a midwife and mother of 4 and a grandmother to our little granddaughter. Our house has been available through Airbnb for many years now and really enjoy communicating with guests and sharing our happy place with others. I have a great team ( caretaker and cleaner) that support me as I also manage the 'Classic Australian Beach House', designed in the 90's by my husband and architect, Clinton Murray.
