1st floor apartment/flat on the borderline of Harlem and Washington Heights with convenient access to midtown Manhattan within 20-30 minutes.

The Space

MASTER BEDROOM with a queen-size bed (with dual nightstands); SMALL BEDROOM with a single bed for 1 and an armoire; AND a wide pull-out/convertible chair (to open either in the small bedroom or in the living room) - for a total of 4.

My extremely clean and neat railroad-style apartment (flat) has 11 ft ceilings and is in a 90 year old pre-war building. It is well cared for and has been totally restored to its original glory. The bathroom is large and includes a clawfoot tub. French doors separate the master bedroom from the living room. Three exposures grace the living room and dining area, and all window sashes lead up to the ceiling, so natural lighting is in abundance.

I provide healthy breakfast foods such as fresh fruits, coffees, teas, eggs, greek-yogurt, cereal and snacks.

One block east and one block west of the apt are the #1 train and the C train - major subway lines to connect you with other subway lines or to directly bring you to many of our great attractions and restaurants.

Guest Access

WiFi; large flat-screen TV with streaming chanels via a Roku internet-device; a DVD-player; mini-stereo; a modern kitchen and bath; and healthy breakfast foods, an assortment of fresh fruits, coffees, teas and snacksl

Interaction with Guests

At the request of my guest I will gladly provide travel, transit, dining, shopping and entertainment suggestions.

The Neighborhood

The proximity to two 24hr rapid transit lines is great. The near-by parks - including Riverside Park - and museums are wonderful, as is the short walk to the baseball stadium of the world famous NY Yankees. An abundance of taxis and livery cars are available for quick jaunts to points south or north of the apt.

Getting around

Two rapid transit lines which service the west side of the island of Manhattan (and points further) are within one avenue + one street of the apt - in both directions. A half-dozen buses which transverse the entire island of Manhattan from north to south are within 90 ft and one avenue of the apt. Major highways and the George Washington Bridge are minutes away

  • The apartment was light, airy, spacious and very comfortable. We loved coming back to it in the evenings after big days' out exploring New York. Norma & Jeffrey had supplied plenty of food in the full size fridge, and the local market is within easy walking distance, so we were able to cook up in the fully equipped kitchen. Two different subway lines are easily accessible for a reasonably short trip into lower Manhattan. The hosts were very friendly and readily available to answer any questions we had. This is definitely an apartment we would recommend!

  • Norma and Jeff were so nice! We felt really homey and had so much fun. They had a lot of good tips and were helpful all the time. The neighborhood was diverse and lively. Next time we would visit them again :)

  • We enjoyed our stay at the appartment of Norma very much. The appartment was light, had one big and a small bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The subway was on walking distance.
Norma was friendly and if there where questions, we could easily get in touch with her or she would phone back.

  • I was in NY for a short stay and from the very first conversation, I knew I wanted to stay here. Norma sent me a list of great local restaurants to visit during my stay.

Although, I did not get to the restaurants this time, I thought this was a very nice gesture and will keep these in the file for the next trip.

It's always a bonus to be in the presence of 'good people' while on travel (esp. if staying in their house) and I can honestly say that Norma and her husband made my travel experience quite enjoyable. They made sure I had a comfortable stay and they were always available to answer any questions about the city. Thanks again....

Man findet alles was man braucht!

Norma is a reliable, supporting and very nice host. She answered all our questions immediately and the flat is exactly like the pictures show. When we arrived she had supplied food for the first couple of days (bread, milk, fruits, juice). The kitchen is very well equipped even with different spices. You have everything that you need.

We considered the flat and its neighborhood as quiet for New York. Norma even supplied a laptop for guests who do not bring their own and she even helped us getting to the airport.

We got to downtown from 155th Street taking the C-Train and changed at 125th Street to A-Express. Two buses are right at the front door of the apartment and this is a very nice trip to downtown as well.

  • Norma was an excellent host and her home was so lovely and welcoming! She was there to meet my girlfriend and I with a smile and charm and the communication was constant and helpful:) We loved the decor, openness and warmth of Norma's apartment; the place looked exactly as pictured. Norma was also kind enough to leave lots of breakfast options for us too. Her husband Jeffery was nice as well. Thanks again Norma. We loved your place and would definitely stay there again!

  • What can we say? Simple : your "at home". Norma is absolutely so kind, with so kind attentions. When you arrive she's waiting for whenever you arrived late. You find fruits vegetables foods for the week!!! She's always answering your question very quickly. A very very friendly host!
the place is comfortable, reassuring, cozy. Two rooms so if you are a family it's really great. Norma let you all you need or could forget, you'll never find such attention everywhere else (we compared with friends location). Near from line 1 or C (or D). If you want to visit NYC it a place to be!!!
Thanks a lot Norma it was a wonderful week and you help us to come back home with good vibrations !!!!
Hope we could see you again

I am from Argentina, and I was raised in a small city in the middle of the province called La Pampa, I went to college in the beautiful city of Buenos Aires (for Law School). I have had the opportunity to travel to several countries in South America, Europe and South Africa. Of course I visit my country every year to be with my lovely family and my very good friends. I know where you stay is a vital part of a pleasant vacation. I too enjoy providing warm and comfortable accommodations. You will always feel very welcome in my home. Cheers! Norma
