The beauty about where we are is the closeness to Hobart (12 minutes) and the suburb of Kingston (6 minutes) but you have the benefit of a tranquil bush setting. Enjoy the cool Summer afternoon sea breeze and the warmth of wood fire in the Winter !
The accommodation is a modern purpose built private secure studio totally self contained in a bush setting with mountain views. We are located in the foothills of Mt Wellington just 12 minutes from Hobart's city centre and 5 minutes from the beachside suburb of Kingston. The studio has its own bathroom and kitchen with, heaps of parking and its own outdoor area. Our neighbourhood consists of people who want to live on acreage, in private surroundings but close to the city. We are well travelled early retirees, who spend our days in the garden and bush walking. To stay with us however you will need your own transport, as the nearest public transport is a 3 kilometre walk.
Our home is approximately 100 metres from the studio.
There are a number of mountain walks within close proximity, some very easy and others more challenging. These can range from short walks to day trips depending on your needs.Or if it's Summer and you want the seaside, you are only 5-6 minutes away at Kingston Beach or Blackmans Bay.
At the top of our road is a fabulous "country style" mountain tavern with lunches and dinner 7 days a week. At the other end of the road (Kingston) you have all the restaurants and fast food outlets you need. '
MOBILE PHONE coverage is excellent

If you scroll down the rest of the reviews for this cottage, you will see comments about how comfortable it is, how beautiful the setting, how convenient to Hobart (though it is true that you do need a car/motorbike, unless you are super-fit !) and how friendly the welcome from Phil and Sue. I really can't improve on those comments, other than to say that they are absolutely, 100% true. This is Tassie (people and place) at its best. We had 10 days here, and they were over way too soon. Thanks, Phil and Sue.
WOW! We really don't know what to say. Other than fantastic place to stay and great hosts. A little out of the way is always a good thing. Bush setting and the ambiance of the cottage was second to none. It was a pity he had a booking after our stay, we would have loved to stay an extra day. One particular very nice touch was to find that Phil had lit the fire for us so we wouldn't come home to a cold place. Thanks Phil...
WOW, what a great find for my very first airbnb experience...private , tranquil & oh so peaceful yet only a short distance away from Hobart. Beautifully & tastefully appointed , this accomodation provides everything you need including delightful hosts Sue & Phil, there when you need them, invisible when you want to do your own thing.
Don't be put off by the 3kms of unmade but very easy going dirt road to get there , however a car is essential to access this bush paradise.
No possible chance I would stay anywhere else other than here ,when I next return to Hobart !
Ann and I were very impressed with the cottage and it truly had great views of the surrounding countryside. Phil and Sue were very hospitable and attended to whatever minor problems we had immediately.
We can fully recommend this cottage to anyone, and thank them for the most pleasant stay.
We had a great time here! We loved the bush setting close to the city but also the warm welcome of Phil and his wife. During our stay they kept surprising us with kind attentions. Thank you both so much!!!
The cottage is very nice and cosy. For cold evenings there's a wood fire. It's the perfect place from where to discover the south of Tasmania. We highly recommend staying at this airbnb, you won't be disappointed!
We enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. So close to Hobart yet you feel like you are nowhere near a city. It was a great place to use as a base for a few days to do day trips in and around Hobart. Great views, hot shower, a nice warm fire place and a very comfortable bed. Phil was friendly, helpful, informative and willing to answer our questions on the area.
Great spot - clean private cabin with all facilities on bush block facing Mt Wellington and short drive to main shops (Coles, Woolies, fast food, etc,). Warmly greeted by Phil who also checked we were OK following a massive storm.
Hobart quite small and, due to Mt Wellington, long/thin ... so never far from the water.
Thoroughly recommend MONA, Port Arthur, Salamanca Markets (and the Navy rock band that plays on the wharf), walk around the wharfs (although fish and chips from one of the barges was the WORST I've ever had), coffee and stroll at Kinston (website hidden) Wellington is open 24/7 if weather OK ... daytime view spectacular and worth returning for night-time viewing (make sure it is really dark).
We loved the peace and quiet of this bush setting, and appreciated the comforts of this well-set-up cottage.
This beautiful little cabin isn´t so easy to find but searching is worth it. It is really close to Hobart but in a wonderfully calm bush area, where you can see wallabies and echidnas. Thank you Phil for this pleasant stay.
