My wife and I stayed at the River Song Cottage for a quiet, relaxing weekend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We loved the cottage and my wife especially liked all the antiques and finishes inside the house. It is perfectly located for easy access to the town center, as well as other hiking trails, restaurants, etc. We were able to bring our two small dogs, which was a real treat bc they had a blast on the hikes and we didn't need to worry about boarding them for the weekend. Holly was very helpful and pleasant throughout the booking process as well as with a few questions I had while staying. This place was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed here and we were not disappointed. We may try and come back to this cottage for a weekend in the summer when we can take advantage of the natural springs in the area. Highly recommended.
The cottage is in a good location and Wimberley itself is full of good restaurants and nice places to hike. That being said, I had a hard time getting responses from the owner prior to my visit. Even though I communicated about my check-in time and she said she would make arrangements for the key, I arrived unable to get in. We ended up going out to dinner and got a phone call from her associate explaining that the owner was out of town and the where the hide-a-key was. In the cabin itself, the floor was concrete and both cold and dirty; we spent the weekend wearing our shoes inside. There were ample kitchen items to cook with but most were old, rusting, or simply in need of another wash. The bathtub/shower liner had mildew and the shower itself had poor drainage and was spraying water out of the top of the showerhead. We took quick showers standing in two inches of water and covered the showerhead with a towel to keep it from spraying the ceiling and walls. Finally, the "grill" listed in the amenities was a tiny charcoal thing on the porch that looked more like an antique than something you could cook on. These were disappointing accommodations for a weekend getaway with my husband. It was certainly a waste of money. Do however, visit Wimberley and enjoy the hospitality and charm, but stay somewhere else.
Absolutely loved this place for some solitude and reflection. What made it for me was the great cast iron fireplace in the living room. Very quaint and rustic, but also very clean and comfortable!
The river out back is absolutely serene as well. Wimberely is such a great town. Make sure you go to Jacob's Well and Prayer Mountain if you want to experience more outdoors.
The perfect little get away. Had to hide and write for a few days and this cabin was the solution. Despite it being very rustic on the outside, which I loved, this little place had everything on the inside, was clean and also very close to town. The walk to the river behind the house was a must. I certainly will be back again. Rilo made the place complete (the property pup).
The river song cottage was amazing! We ended up going on a weekend that was cold and rainy and still we had so much fun. Holly was very helpful and welcoming. I would definitely stay again! Almost forgot about her loving dog that just wanted to hangout with us, he was awesome!
The comfortable cottage was just the right size tucked away off the beaten path. It seemed close to the square and yet far enough away. We loved being able to walk down to see the creek!
We booked this little cabin for our one year Anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at how the cabin looked and felt. It had everything we needed for the weekend sans wifi but we were able to make due. It was an enjoyable peaceful getaway that we needed from our lives in Houston. We would stay here again!
We had a great time at the cottage. It's located in a great place, is really cute, and has everything you need. There was a thunderstorm one night, so we sat out on the covered porch in the rocking chairs watching the lightning. It was awesome!
If you're looking for a rustic and cozy place to stay in Wimberley this is the place. My husband and I and our two dogs stayed 3 nights. The property is peaceful with deer and a clear flowing Blanco river behind the owners house. One of her dogs came and visited us often and became good friends with one our dogs. Its very close to Wimberley Village to do your shopping, eating and drinking along with the outdoor Corral Theatre if you're there on the weekend. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the future.
