We have a beautiful and spacious fourth-floor 2-bedroom condo in Harlem, one room in which we rent out on a regular basis to responsible, mature adults who'd like a gorgeous place to stay while visiting Manhattan but think that paying $350 a night for a shoddy hotel is insane.
NOTE: If the dates you want aren't available on this listing, try our other listing (same home, different bedroom) by adding /rooms(phone number hidden) the Airbnb web address. We also have a beach house in Asbury Park, NJ, that might interest you. You can view that at /rooms(phone number hidden)
Now back to your stay...
We're non-discriminating kind of people - we don't care what you look like - but we do expect you to be polite, clean and easygoing. We'd also prefer it if you didn't steal our stuff.
One thing you should know - we're a young, professional gay couple. (See that photo? We're A-mazing!) Not that that has any bearing on your stay with us, but we'd hate to turn someone away for being a bigot. If you're open-minded enough to accept that gays, in fact, do exist (and faaaaa-bulously!), then get in touch.
Also, we have a dog named Jaxon. He's quiet, super fun and very cuddly - and he'll expect you to love him just the same.
Your stay includes an air-conditioned/heated private room; fresh (and super soft) Ralph Lauren towels; access to our in-unit washer/dryer (FREE); flat-screen LCD/LED TVs (plus TiVo - we don't want you to miss your shows); board games and DVDs; FREE Wi-Fi; all the cereal you can eat (until we run out); FREE tea; in-room mini-fridge; and in-room coffee maker (coffee not included). The bed is a full-size futon/mattress hybrid; during the day it's a couch (we never put it up - we've forgotten how it works now) and at night it converts into the comfy bed you see in the pictures. Free street parking. Oh, and booze is on the house; we like to relax with alcohol. (Please drink responsibly and don't drink and drive. If we had a legal dept., they would totally tell us to tell you that.)
Sold yet? OK, we'll keep going.
We have a Wii that you can play, too. But we'll warn you - you might get schooled in Mario Kart and Trivial Pursuit. Seriously - we're probably gonna mop the floor with you.
Our condo is only two blocks away from the 2/3 express subway trains. We're within walking distance to Yankee Stadium and Columbia University, and you can be in Times Square in 15 minutes by subway. The apartment is easy to get to by subway from Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. A cab ride from LaGuardia is relatively inexpensive (about $20), but the bus is even cheaper ($2.50).
There's a supermarket just down the street, along with bodegas for other convenience items on each corner. There's a McDonald's and late-night junkfood spots, like IHOP and Popeye's nearby. Just around the corner is an excellent French bistro with delicious food and can't-be-beat happy hours specials like $4 glasses of house wines and craft beers, nightly until 8 p.m. There are several health food, vegetarian/vegan establishments a stone's throw away.
P.S. We will be home during your stay. This will be a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom with lockable doors), but a fun, inexpensive one nonetheless. We've already met some pretty fantastic people from all over the world, so the bar is high; don't bring it down. Oh, and there are three flights of stairs to our apt. - with no elevator. But that's all right; you can do it!
Guests will have access to the entire apartment. You're welcome to lounge in the living room at the end of the day, make meals in the kitchen, and hop on the computer to print out tickets and boarding passes.
We stay fairly busy so we're not always around to interact, but when we're here together it will be comfortable and friendly.

Mikey was awesome, although they weren't there they trust us his amazing apartment. I really recommend them they are awesome.
Choosing to stay at Mikey's home over the weekend was a great decision me and my boyfriend made. Mikey was very easy to reach and answered all of my questions prior to the trip that by the time he greeted us at the door when we arrived, and gave us a quick rundown, I didn't have to ask anything anymore. The room came complete with a fridge, a book with maps showing nearby restaurants and groceries, a big flat screen with plenty of movies we could watch on our downtime, and free use of the rest of his home. We definitely enjoyed our stay here and feel like the next time we'd be back in NYC to visit, we'd end up at Mikey's again and not a hotel. Worth it hands down.
It was great to stay at Mikey's apartment! It's such a nice place, everything is clean and I felt at home from the moment I arrived. There was only the cute dog at home when I arrived but everything prepared for me. In advance I got a description how to get the key - perfectly organized! Mikey is a fantastic host and a very nice person. It's a pity we did not meet very often, because I usually came home too late ;-) Thank you, Mikey, I will be back - and hope to have a beer with you then!
Mikey is a great host and made us feel right at home! The apartment is very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. Mikey is also a great company and showed us interesting places close to their house. We also had a lot of good discussions and enjoyed our stay with them.
Mikey and Earl have a very clean and well designed apartment. It was great to come back to a quieter part of town after a day of exploring the city. The close proximity of the subway station was convenient.
I am glad I chose the airbnb experience for my first trip to New York.
It was great being able to stay in Mikey's apartment. It's as shown and was all I imagined of a cool NYC apartment. He is very responsive, provides useful information and gets back quickly in relation to any questions.
I was travelling with my wife and two 19 year old girls and all felt safe in the area. The subway is only a short distance from the unit and you can choose from a number of eating locations.
If your looking to do a little shopping and don't want to travel into central Manhattan then walk down to 125th Street.
This is a great place to stay to experience New York without the cost and hassle of staying in a midtown hotel.
Wow, what a place! We came to NY for the weekend, and we're treated to a fun, economical, warm, and inviting home to stay. Mickey and Early are generous, friendly hosts who take the sharing of their space and making their guests comfortable priority number one.
A great example of this was the first big snowstorm of the season hit while we were there. In the walk up, a leak in the building occurred. While it was a small leak, that we didn't even notice, Mikey and Earl took the maintenance call in the middle of the night. They arrive back at 4am and began the coordinating. By the time we woke up, the repair was in full swing! What dedication and care to their guests! Thank you
Me an my friend enjoyed our staying at Mikey's place a lot! It's a pity we didn't have chance to know hosts better, cause we were out almost all the time. Nevertheless, Mikey and Earl were nice and helpful so we didn't have any problems. They have clean and cozy apartment with great location just near the subway station. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone who visits New York.
Me and my two friends loved staying at Mikey's! It's a very clean, well kept and cozy apartment. Mikey was an excellent host, he was very accommodating and flexible with our schedule. Harlem proved to be a very safe neighborhood with some great restaurants, and the apartment itself is a very short walk from the subway station. We didn't run into any problems, and would definitely recommend his apartment to all our friends.
Had à wonderful time looking forward to another stay very soon! Very clean , great location and very cozy !
