Our spacious Manhattan condo is your urban oasis away from home. We've put a lot of thought and effort into our space to make it aesthetic pleasing and a pleasant place to relax and make the most of your trip. We look forward to meeting you soon.
We have a beautiful and spacious fourth-floor 2-bedroom condo in Harlem, one room in which we rent out on a regular basis to responsible, mature adults who'd like a gorgeous place to stay while visiting Manhattan but think that paying $350 a night for a shoddy hotel is insane.
NOTE: If the dates you want aren't available on this listing, try our other listing - same home, different room: www.airbnb.com/rooms/13306466. We also have a shore house in Asbury Park, NJ, that might interest you. You can view that www.airbnb.com/rooms/1466921.
Now back to your stay...
We're non-discriminating kind of people - we don't care what you look like - but we do expect you to be polite, clean and easygoing. We'd also prefer it if you didn't steal our stuff.
One thing you should know - we're a young, professional gay couple. (See that photo? What cuties, eh?!) Not that that has any bearing on your stay with us, but we'd hate to turn someone away for being a bigot. If you're open-minded enough to accept that gays, in fact, do exist, please get in touch.
Also, we have a dog named Jaxon. He's quiet, super fun and very cuddly - and he'll expect you to love him just the same.
Your stay includes an air-conditioned/heated private room; fresh linens and towels; access to our in-unit washer/dryer (FREE); flat-screen LCD/LED TVs (plus TiVo - we don't want you to miss your shows); board games and DVDs; FREE Wi-Fi; all the cereal you can eat (until we run out); FREE tea; in-room mini-fridge; and coffee maker (coffee sometimes included, but not always). The bed is a legit full-size bed. Free street parking. Oh, and booze is on the house; we like to relax with alcohol. (Please drink responsibly and don't drink and drive. If we had a legal dept., they would totally tell us to tell you that.)
Sold yet? OK, we'll keep going.
Our condo is only two blocks away from the 2/3 express subway trains. We're within walking distance to Yankee Stadium and Columbia University, and you can be in Times Square in 15 minutes by subway. The apartment is easy to get to by subway from Grand Central, Penn Station and Port Authority. A cab ride from LaGuardia is relatively inexpensive (about $25), but the bus is even cheaper ($2.50).
There's a supermarket just down the street, along with bodegas for other convenience items on each corner. There's a McDonald's and late-night junk-food spots, like IHOP and Popeye's nearby. Just around the corner is an excellent French bistro with delicious food and can't-be-beat happy hours specials like $4 glasses of house wines and craft beers, nightly until 8 p.m. There are several health food, vegetarian/vegan establishments a stone's throw away, and lots of new restaurants are popping up all over the place.
P.S. We will most likely be home during your stay, or other guests may occupy the other private bedroom. This will be a shared-space situation (the privacy part of the listing means that you'll have a private bedroom with lockable doors), but a fun, inexpensive one nonetheless. We've already met some pretty fantastic people from all over the world, so the bar is high; don't bring it down. Oh, and there are three flights of stairs to our apt. - with no elevator. But that's all right; you can do it!
Guests will have access to the entire apartment. You're welcome to lounge in the living room at the end of the day, make meals in the kitchen, and hop on the computer to print out tickets and boarding passes.
Interaction with Guests
We stay fairly busy so we're not always around to interact, but when we're here together it will be comfortable and friendly.
Harlem is experiencing yet another renaissance and we're so lucky to be part of it. Our neighborhood is certainly diverse, but it's safe and friendly. Lots of great new shops and restaurants are opening all the time, and we're always eager to give you our recommendations on the hottest spots in the hood.
We're conveniently located just around the corner from an express subway train that will zip you all over New York City very quickly.
Please clean up after yourself - especially crumbs on the counter and hair in the drain. If I have to clean your hair out of the drain, I'll put it in an envelope and send it to you at home. Smoking allowed outside only. Singing in the shower encouraged; if only so we can laugh at you. No booty calls unless they're super hot.

Both Mikey and Earl were very welcoming and we liked our stay at their place. Mikey made sure we had all we need to enjoy our visit to Nyc. We liked the neighborhood as well although we didn't have enough time to explore places listed in guide book.
We had a lovely time staying with Mikey and Earl. The house was lovely and just as the pictures show. Mikey wasn't there when we arrived but we were greeted by a welcoming Earl and Jaxon (the dog).
Our room was small but it was everything that we needed for our stay. The area was ok, we felt safe walking around during the day but caught a cab at night just to be on the safe side.
Mikey was there for one night of our stay and he was lovely and seemed to really take pride in the house and in the service that they provided. He also made sure to check in with us when he wasn't there just to make sure everything was ok. Earl was there for the majority of our stay and was helpful and friendly. They both recommended Yatenga which is just around the corner and worth a visit.
All in all it was lovely staying at Mikey and Earl's place that became our home away from home.

We're a fun-loving couple who enjoy meeting people from all over the world. Our apartment is clean, modern and, dare we say it, pretty darn fantastic.
Forget what you've heard about Harlem, too. Our neighborhood is full of diversity, friendly people, and it's safe. I'm a tiny man, and I've never had one problem here. There are several parks nearby with excellent views of the George Washington Bridge, the Hudson River, the Harlem River, New Jersey and The Bronx.
We love it here, and you will too!
