I highly recommend this room. Deb is very nice and accommodating. I stayed for a little more than a week and enjoyed my time there. Unfortunately, there was some water damage to the ceiling in the kitchen, so Deb had to gut a remodel the kitchen during my stay. But she was very informative of the repairs and even offered to let me cancel with no charges. I continued to stay for my reserved days, and Deb offered to give me a small refund. Instead I stayed a couple extra days at no charge.
The room is small, but what room in NY isn't? :) I found the room to have everything I needed... bed, closet, AC, full length mirror, & small table. The Wi Fi worked great! The room is just like it looks in the pictures. The neighborhood was safe, beautiful brownstone apartments, and great Caribbean food.
Again, I would highly recommend this room.
Deb's apartment in Brooklyn is situated in a very peaceful and secure neighborhood close to Prospect Park and two subway stations which take you into Manhattan in less than 30 minutes. In the room, which is upstairs, there is a single bed, a small table, a chair and a small closet, which is everything you need if you're not home a lot. The kitchen and the bathroom are downstairs and are shared with another tenant. I only met Deb 3 or 4 times, but she was always helpful and told me about places to go in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The only thing that was a bit annoying during my 2 month stay was the wireless internet connection, which was either very weak or didn't work at all, especially upstairs. Deb said that a new high-speed internet would be installed soon - I don't know if that has happened yet.
But on the whole, I really enjoyed my stay at Deb's apartment and I can definitely recommend it to others.
The small room that Deb posted is exactly as pictured and described. Simple, comfortable and most importantly for me, warm. It was even nice enough a couple of days to go out to backyard. I could have stayed out there all day if I didn't have a schedule. Deb is available for questions/directions/suggestions and sincerely wants to be helpful host.
Due to tropical storm Sandy needed to find something at the last minute and Deb was more than accomodating. Response time was timely and useful. This place was exactly what I needed; simple and no hassle The house is great; clean, close to all sorts of public transport including 2 subway stations, grocery, drug stores, laundry. As a first airbnb experience, this really sets the standards for the rest.
Would recommend to others and not hesitate to visit again.
The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. The subway station (2,5,B,Q,S) and Prospect park is near and easy access to Manhattan.Walking distance to Botanical Garden,Brooklyn museum and Brooklyn central public museum, etc.
The room is compact and simple, good enough for a traveller.
I met a good company (another guest) and had a good time with her. When Hurricane Sandy hits NYC, Deb always checked our safety and cooked for us.She was helpful when I asked and needed something.
I had a great and memorable time in Lefferts Garden.
