Please note: This listing is for one room only. We have another listing for the entire house.
We are primarily renting one room, but others are available as needed and occasionally the entire house. New Paltz is a progressive and inclusive village surrounded by great natural beauty, culture, and history.
Travel: There is regular bus service from NYC's Port Authority to New Paltz. The trip takes approximately 1.5 hours on the bus. We are five minutes from the bus station. There is also a shuttle from the Metro North Station in Poughkeepsie to New Paltz.
This 270 year old gem has been ten years in the remaking. We saved every detail we could while still making it a comfortable, beautiful retreat with all the modern conveniences. It sits on 5.5 acres of woods, lawns, pond, and gardens.
You will delight in the beautiful, peaceful, ground floor bedroom with a queen-size bed, wide floorboards, exposed beams, and a convenient semi-private entrance. The private bathroom includes a “water room” attached to a two-person Jacuzzi-style tub, double sinks, and a bidet. Let your cares bubble away in the candlelight. Included with the single room rental are wireless, the use of the living room with cable TV, and all outdoor areas.
A comfortably furnished screened in porch is perfect for warm evenings. The large outdoor patio with gas grill, fire pit, large table, and lounge furniture provide a beautiful setting overlooking the pond for meals or relaxing. Sit quietly and wait for the wildlife. On a clear night we love taking a blanket out to the lawn chairs and watching the stars.
The rope swing, children's zip-line, paddleboat, and canoe are fun for young and old alike. Kids love building forts in the woods or playing baseball or tag in the front yard. All kinds of creations including a wobbly igloo, a snow monster, and a sleeping woman have appeared after a good snow. Sometimes conditions are right for skating. We have three boxes of skates. Please always check with us before walking on the pond and then check the ice again yourself. A drill is available for checking ice thickness.
We are within walking distance of town, yet it still feels rural. An organic farm is just down the road with fresh eggs, milk, bread and produce available at their seasonal farm stand. Two other farm stands are near by and there is a seasonal Farmer’s Market on weekends within walking distance.
The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail is right through our woods and provides easy access to hiking, cross-country skiing, or bike riding. The rail trail runs six miles north and six miles south. One of our favorite Sunday morning adventures is to ride to Rosendale for breakfast at the Alternative Baker. Some bikes available upon request.
New Paltz is well known for outdoor activities with everything from sky diving to world-class rock climbing. Historic Huguenot Street, SUNY New Paltz, the Village of New Paltz, and the Adirondack Trailways bus station are within walking distance. Another wonderful visit to Tom and Kim's beautiful home. The house and location is so lovely and relaxing. Tom and Kim are very welcoming, easygoing, and helpful with suggestions of fun things to do in the area. New Paltz is also a fun town. Lots of great restaurants and stores, and peaceful leafy walks are easy to find. We recommend a visit!
Tom and Kim have a beautiful historic house in the heart of New Paltz. The house is nestled behind a forest of trees and nature and although it is in close proximity to the town, it is hidden away from the hustle and bustle and makes for the perfect peaceful and relaxing getaway.
My boyfriend and I stayed in the guest room, which was a good size and felt very private with its own entrance and located to the left wing of the house. The room was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and modern equipped with two sinks and a large hottub.
Kim and Tom were extremely hospitable, giving us full access to all the facilities in the house including the grand beautiful kitchen and sitting room. We really felt at home and had the best weekend.
My husband and I spent the weekend up in New Paltz for our anniversary and it was our first time using Airbnb so we were a little anxious about what to expect.
Tom and Kim were incredibly gracious hosts. The house is gorgeous and we could really appreciate the time and effort put into reconstructing it with integrity. The room we stayed in had lovely details, a gorgeous bathroom and lots of privacy - we felt like we had our own honeymoon suite. We really appreciated that Kim took the time to walk us through the house, explaining some of the things to do around time, showing us where the bikes were, etc.
The most unexpected surprise was when we found ourselves sitting around the table, sharing stories, wine and great conversation. I felt like we were visiting friends. Wouldn't have traded this weekend (or these hosts) for the world!
I felt like I had walked into a copy of House Beautiful and got to stay!
The 1740 Stone House is a marvel, beautiful to the eye, comfortable, convenient,
filled with history and totally captivating. Tom and Kim have done a beautiful job
of restoring it and so, though you know that it is very old, the comforts of modern
life are right where they are needed. And, it is in mint condition, beautifully appointed.
The room in which I stayed had a very comfortable bed and pillows, I slept well each night.
The fabulous bathroom with it had a jacuzzi and shower and piles of luscious towels.
Each of the rooms was special but I was especially impressed with the kitchen. It was
large and yet cozy with it's comfortable love seat where you could sit and watch the
birds flocking around the feeder. The sun poured in and created a beautiful atmosphere.
I found it difficult to leave the place to go off to the sightseeing I had planned for myself.
The Kimbles are fine hosts, friendly and very helpful as I made my reservations and figured out how
to get there and some of the things to do in the area. Tom's info about getting to Newark
Airport on time helped avoid panic.
I hope to go back someday to resume my exploration of the house and grounds and take more pictures!
Tom and Kim have the most beautiful, tasteful and artful home which suited us perfectly for our weekend honeymoon! The grounds of the house are stunning, quiet, and an easy walk or drive to the small town or organic farm. Tom and Kim are a very easy-going and interesting couple, who made us feel incredibly welcome and were very informative about the local area and its attractions and events. We'd love to go back!!
