We can offer an nice and comfortable appartement near Dubrovnik and Trebinje. It consists of two bedrooms, living room, small kitchen and bathroom.
It is not so modern as seen on TV and tourist guides but it offers a warm hospitality and nice rest
The small hoouse near Dubrovnik, with a beautiful view to the bay of Cavtat. An old couple live there. They are my parents. They have a beautiful garden and a natural food. Dubrovnik is about 8 km far and Trebinje 20 km. Herceg Novi in Montenegro is 40 km far away. To the nearest beach you have to drive about 5 min. Its 4 km far. It is a wonderfull beach. On the whole bay from Kupari to Cavtat you can choose between many of wonderfull beaches. For the people who want a peacefull vacation this is a great. Any time you can go to Dubrovnik or go swimming or just stay at home and read or walk along the stony and mediteranean paths and enyou the healthy air. The many peaply and famous doctors say taht because of the special climate and many differents winds, this hill is especially good for the people who have problems with alergiscs and breathing. The house does not have a wire fire but it is a charming house with a wineyard, where you can park you car. You can also come by bus or plane, but you will need to rent a car. In Trebinje it is much cheaper as well the food. There are so many things to see in Dubrovnik and in the surrounding of Dubrovnik, so that you can choose what to do. The hosts are really nice and friendly. But, I have to say, that people who are comming have to come by the car or a bike, because there is not a bus connection to Dubrovnik. And the settlement is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, just on the border to Croatia, so that you have to cross the border each time.
We really enjoyed our stay at ivanica on the hill. We drove down from Sarajevo, through to mostar and Dubrovnik. They drive was really scenic, as it traversed and passed through the valleys and onto the costal line. This route meant that we had to go through 4 border checks in total. We passed relatively quickly and without any problems at all. Cmilja provided us with directions which were easy enough to follow. When we arrived at Ivanica, we were greeted by Bosa and Pappa, who welcomed us with coffee and some shots which really warmed the soul! Exactly what we needed after a long drive. Bosa was the perfect host and provided us with some amazing hospitality during our 4 days. The apartment itself is very confortable. We essentially had the top half of the house all to ourselves, which consisted of our own private bathroom, kitchen, lounge and balcony area that overlooked the mountains. During our stay we visited cavtat along the coast (which was only about a 40 minute drive), and of course visited the resturant down the road. There lamb spit which they do on the Saturday night was delicious. Overall a really pleasent experience, ivanica itself seems to be a place with a really interesting history. we would definitely recommend! Thank you cmilja and thank you Bosa.
Cmilja and his family are really warm and polite hosts and tried to make our staying as comfortable as possible.
Unfortunately, we booked for the whole apartment, but we had to share it with them (5 people), probably due to a misunderstanding.
The house is ok, Ivanica is really close to Dubrovnik and its coast, even if actually it is still far from being a charming place.
I am very sorry because of (website hidden) that period of time I was there with my family and we tought that we as a hosts will try not to disturb the young couple, because they wanted to stay two nights. Besides, the appartment has two more rooms and it is for more that two people. It could also happen that someone of the other guests is in other rooms. Ivanica is not fancy place. It is a quite settlement on the border between Croatia and Herzegowina. It has been destroyed in the civil war but now it is rebuilding and new big villas and houses are growing (website hidden) is quite village with pleasant breeze and without crowd. Who likes to explore, see something different and to save the money, it can be suitable. Once again, I am very sorry because of the misunderstanding, because Giacomo and his girlfriend are really nice. Cmilja
I was in need of a quiet place to rest after traveling for 3 months. This was ideal! It's a 20 min bus ride from Dubrovnik in a tiny village on the Bosnian border. If you want to see how life happens outside of the city this is it! I had milk fresh from their cow, honest from their bees and was treated as one of the family. They took me to the beach with them and helped me get to Trebenje to continue on my travels. A beautiful terrace to relax on and a very spacious bed to rest my head. Great wifi too! No shower curtain so be prepared for a more creative way of showering. A real gem if you need a rest :)
We had a great time. Have to thank grandma Bosa, for making us feel like at home, Cmilja for being very helpful with instructions. It is a wonderful place, not far from Dubrovnik, nature around it is amazing. Also, prices on Bosnian side are better, so keep in mind to use the village grocery store. Overall, there is no doubt this is where we would stay when visiting Dubrovnik again!
Absolutely loved our 2 days in Ivanica, just wished we could’ve stayed longer!
The apartment is great: simple, comfy and ideal for 2 people. The hosts are warm and fantastic (use (website hidden) translate for conversations, it’s a hoot!) and the property is gorgeous, this being the start of spring everything was giving birth! So many brand new animal babies...we got to see newborn puppies and goats and I think the cat’s due any day )
The town itself is quiet and offers great walking possibilities PLUS it is just a short drive down to Dubrovnik so makes the IDEAL base to explore the town. Two days not enough! We thought we’d just sleep here and spend our days in Dubrovnik but we desperately wanted more days just to stay put. Ah! The little restaurant down the road (Izvor) does a great grilled mixed meat plate for like 5 Euros, seriously good.
By now you should already know that the town is just on the border over with Bosnia, so do check if you need a visa before heading here. Crossing over daily is never an issue, think they’re used to it.
Would definitely come back here when next in the area, fantastic little getaway this is. Cmilja please thank your mum for the lovely hospitality and for treating us like family)
Cmilja was very kind and help me to rent a car for very cheap.
The apartment itself is located in a quiet village 7km away from Dubrovnik, on the bosnian side. It is a very good location and quiet place, her parents were really nice with me and even though we didn't speak the same language, they made me feel home and shared with me the figs from their garden. they made my stay really amazing
