We can offer an nice and comfortable appartement near Dubrovnik and Trebinje. It consists of two bedrooms, living room, small kitchen and bathroom.
It is not so modern as seen on TV and tourist guides but it offers a warm hospitality and nice rest
The small hoouse near Dubrovnik, with a beautiful view to the bay of Cavtat. An old couple live there. They are my parents. They have a beautiful garden and a natural food. Dubrovnik is about 8 km far and Trebinje 20 km. Herceg Novi in Montenegro is 40 km far away. To the nearest beach you have to drive about 5 min. Its 4 km far. It is a wonderfull beach. On the whole bay from Kupari to Cavtat you can choose between many of wonderfull beaches. For the people who want a peacefull vacation this is a great. Any time you can go to Dubrovnik or go swimming or just stay at home and read or walk along the stony and mediteranean paths and enyou the healthy air. The many peaply and famous doctors say taht because of the special climate and many differents winds, this hill is especially good for the people who have problems with alergiscs and breathing. The house does not have a wire fire but it is a charming house with a wineyard, where you can park you car. You can also come by bus or plane, but you will need to rent a car. In Trebinje it is much cheaper as well the food. There are so many things to see in Dubrovnik and in the surrounding of Dubrovnik, so that you can choose what to do. The hosts are really nice and friendly. But, I have to say, that people who are comming have to come by the car or a bike, because there is not a bus connection to Dubrovnik. And the settlement is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, just on the border to Croatia, so that you have to cross the border each time.
The guests are expected to be honest, friendly, not very loud and not to come home very late.
As soon as we arrived at the house, we were made to feel very welcome.
Baba gave us home-made honey and Slivovic and was so friendly. Later in the week we were given home-made pastry filled with goat´s cheese from Baba´s goats and so many grapes we couldn´t eat them all!
The listing is accurate.
The house is basic, in a quite remote and in places run-down village, but it has everything you need.
As Cmilja says, to stay here you need to rent a car or bikes, because to reach the beach, you face a long walk and not very regular buses.
Cmilja can help with any English speaking problems, but to make the most of this listing I would recommend it to people who speak a Slavic language. Then Baba and people in the area can help you too!
The area is beautiful, particularly the views down to the coast.
There are lots of places to visit and lots of great beaches, but all require a mode of transport.
The village is quiet and peaceful, we would recommend the nearest restaurant Izvor, with good prices for good Bosnian food.
We received a very warm welcome. The people were super nice and the apartment was furnished with everything. The location is perfect to relax, to enjoy the seaside in Croatia and the beauty of Bosnia.
My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Cmilja's house. Cmilja and her family were lovely hosts. At first it was a little bit difficult to find the house but when we did it was great. We used the place as a base to head to Dubrovnik, it was a great cheaper option to staying in Dubrovnik itself just be sure to leave before 10am to avoid the traffic at the border.
We had a very nice stay in Cmilja's place. The appartment is large and confortable and well located in the nature and close from Dubrovnik.
Despite the language barrier, the hosts were the most welcoming we ever had ! Cmilja considered us as their own children and gave us awesome fresh milk from their cows and home-made cheese.
We would love to come their again and definitely recommand this place.
We really enjoyed our stay at ivanica on the hill. We drove down from Sarajevo, through to mostar and Dubrovnik. They drive was really scenic, as it traversed and passed through the valleys and onto the costal line. This route meant that we had to go through 4 border checks in total. We passed relatively quickly and without any problems at all. Cmilja provided us with directions which were easy enough to follow. When we arrived at Ivanica, we were greeted by Bosa and Pappa, who welcomed us with coffee and some shots which really warmed the soul! Exactly what we needed after a long drive. Bosa was the perfect host and provided us with some amazing hospitality during our 4 days. The apartment itself is very confortable. We essentially had the top half of the house all to ourselves, which consisted of our own private bathroom, kitchen, lounge and balcony area that overlooked the mountains. During our stay we visited cavtat along the coast (which was only about a 40 minute drive), and of course visited the resturant down the road. There lamb spit which they do on the Saturday night was delicious. Overall a really pleasent experience, ivanica itself seems to be a place with a really interesting history. we would definitely recommend! Thank you cmilja and thank you Bosa.
Cmilja and his family are really warm and polite hosts and tried to make our staying as comfortable as possible.
Unfortunately, we booked for the whole apartment, but we had to share it with them (5 people), probably due to a misunderstanding.
The house is ok, Ivanica is really close to Dubrovnik and its coast, even if actually it is still far from being a charming place.
I am very sorry because of (website hidden) that period of time I was there with my family and we tought that we as a hosts will try not to disturb the young couple, because they wanted to stay two nights. Besides, the appartment has two more rooms and it is for more that two people. It could also happen that someone of the other guests is in other rooms. Ivanica is not fancy place. It is a quite settlement on the border between Croatia and Herzegowina. It has been destroyed in the civil war but now it is rebuilding and new big villas and houses are growing (website hidden) is quite village with pleasant breeze and without crowd. Who likes to explore, see something different and to save the money, it can be suitable. Once again, I am very sorry because of the misunderstanding, because Giacomo and his girlfriend are really nice. Cmilja
