This charming cabin sits on twenty acres of a high hill with views of mountains, hills, woods and fields. Enjoy a pastoral setting where you can watch wildlife from the porch and collect blueberries at your back door. The cabin was built in the 1930s on the property of an old tourist lodge that now serves as a writers' retreat. A popular destination for artists and writers, it has a living room with fireiplace, kitchen, bathroom with shower, wrap-around porch, and two bedrooms with a double bed each. This is lake and mountain country, offering many hiking, boating and swimming opportunities within a 5-mile radius of the cabin. The town of Bridgton with all amenities (including a drive-in movie theater!) is only 10 minutes away. The cabin closes for the winter months October 1.
The cabin is very perfectly simple and cozy and just what we were looking for. We were even greeted by some deer when we arrived at night. Joan is a warm and wonderful host and although we didn't see her much (she had laid out everything we needed prior to our arrival and we were traveling most of the days spent), it was clear that she was more than willing to help in any way possible. We would definitely love to stay at Joan's cabin again in the future.
We had a wonderful time in Maine. Our host was easy going and responsive, especially prior to our trip when I asked a few questions.
The rustic, New England cabin was quaint, cozy and welcoming with spectacular views during the day and bright evening sky filled with stars to gaze upon.
I especially liked that the cabin was just a short drive to the area attractions such as Sebago Lake, Long Lake, the Causeway in Naples, yet, a quiet, peaceful location to enjoy reading, relaxing, napping. The host provided fans, linens and towels which were appreciated during the very HOT July 4th weekend.
Cabin was clean, cozy, fully equipped. Great views as promised. Joan was helpful and accommodating.
Joan's cabin was just what I was looking for. Quiet, beautiful, private and clean. With endless mountains and lakes all a stone throw away I was very places with the surrounding places to explore. Whether you want to relax and write at the cottage or go kayaking nearby, you'll leave this place feeling more centered.
