This beautiful apartment is perfect for a family with kids or one or two couples who want to spend some time in Amsterdam, sightseeing and hanging out together. It is located in the calm but center near Oost-Watergraafsmeer.
We are two designers who live and work in Amsterdam since two years. We love to live in this apartment as it's spacious enough to make yourself at home and relax after a busy week.
The whole apartment has about 80 sqm, incl. a garden, and is located on the ground level of an apartment building. There are two bedrooms. One with a double bed and one with a single bed which can be pulled out to create two single beds. The bathroom has a bathtub and a shower. The toilet is in a separate room. The spacious livingroom is perfect for relaxation after a long day out with its couch and dining area. The big window faces the wild garden, where you can have a bbq or sit in the sun as it's directed to the south.
The neighborhood is very calm and family friendly. In the Amstel Station you have a bakery, drugstore and Albert Heijn To Go (small supermarket). Larger grocery stores are easily to reach - 10min walk, 5 min bike or metro.
You can take a 5min walk to the river Amstel to sit in one of the cafes, bars or restaurants at the water. The park Frankendaal is about 2 min to walk and offers one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam - De Kas.
The Amstel Station is directly around the corner.
From here you have great public transportation possibilities:
A) The metro to the city center: You can step out at the Waterlooplein to take a look at the flee market or go further to the Nieuwmarkt or Central Station for shopping and sightseeing. It takes only 7min from Amstel Station to the last stop, Central Station.
B) Tram 12 will bring you to the Museumplein where you can take a look at one of the many museums (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, etc). From there it's a quick walk (5min) to the Leidseplein for shopping, concerts and drinks or the Vondelpark.
C) The nicest way and a more dutch-like possibility to go around Amsterdam is by bike. You can rent a bike at the Amstelfietspoint in the Amstel Station for 6,50€ per day. It's a flexible and great way to experience the city - everyone in Amsterdam is using the bike.
We don't want people to smoke in our house. But thanks to the garden terrace is't easy to step outside.
As the apartment has other apartments above and around it it's not a party place. You can have fun and play some music, but please keep it down. We don't want to disturb anyone and keep on listing the place on Airbnb.
Paula and Lennart are very friendly and hospitable masters. The apartment is light, comfortable, very cosy and large. Our company felt ourself as at home. It is also has a good location near subway. Everything was grate! We'll advice this apartment for everyone who are going to visit Amsterdam. Also we hope to come here again))
We spent really good times in Paula and Lennart's flat. There is lot of space and it is very convenient for 2 couples.
Also the little cat is really friendly and always asking for hugs! (maybe food!:))
We had a really nice time staying in Paula and Lennart's comfortable flat. Paula was always super quick to respond to any correspondence, and extremely helpful for any questions.
The flat is really nice, modern and comfortable. It's a very short walk from the station (only 3 monutes or so) and then a very easy train to the center of town. This means that's it's a nice quiet retreat from the noise, but also easy access to all the center-of-town action.
We were also privvy to the company of their cat Indie. Although she was a little confused to have us there but that didn't last long and she enjoyed staying in our company and sitting on the couch with us.
It was also great to have a full kitchen to use so we could save money on eating out for a few meals over our stay.
Thanks Paula and Lennart for a great stay!
This was a wonderful flat and very conveniently located! Right next to a metro stop and only about 6 minutes into the downtown of Amsterdam.
The apartment was adorable, very funky, yet spotlessly clean. Indie, the cat, was a blast and super cute.
No problems or regrets. We'd totally stay here again!
We are both designers, living and working in Amsterdam since three years. Paula is an interior designer who loves to cook, knit and design her own cloth. Lennart is an Illustrator who is working from his studio on magazine covers and articles.
When we have the time we like to travel the world and see new places. Mostly we stay with friends or family. Therefore we appreciate to live in an apartment while being abroad, as you can make yourself at home, even if it is for a short time.
