The entry to the home is through a beautiful custom built arbor which is covered with flowered vines. On the downstairs level are four bedrooms with soft new cork floors, living and dining room with a ceiling fan and bamboo floors, two full bathrooms.
There is large 160 foot lanai off the living room with a large sliding glass door. The lanai overlooks the orchard.
This is by far not your ordinary acreage. It has four beautifully landscaped and maintained grounds. Lush green cool elevation (1100 feet), manicured lawn, great natural rockwall entrance. Profusion of tropical flora: Many gorgeous Orchids, Hibiscus, Bromeliad, Ginger, Anthurium, Tahitian Gardenia, Ti, Bouganvillea, Pyramid Flower, a variety of Palms, "Money Trees", Paperbark, Hapuu. Plus: Exotic fruit orchard: Lychee, Rambutan, Star Apple, Star Fruit, Jabotikaba, Lemon, Tangelo, Orange , various types of Banana, Avocado, Mango. Lovely seasonal stream. Old Lychee Tree forest, anthurium mossy logs---absolutely breathtaking. Very tranquil and therapeutic! Great hiking, picnicking, outdoor adventure for children and the "explorer". Borders County & State of Hawaii Rainforest.

We rented this home thinking it was a vacation rental. We needed the entire home for our party but the host mentioned that her son was staying upstairs (which she only mentioned the day we were checking in). The upstairs isn't separated with a separate entry way, so the son or whoever else was staying there could have free reign to where we were staying and all our possessions. The kitchen seemed to be thoroughly used, the refrigerator was full. This "vacation home" was more like a live in home with a few rooms on the second floor for rent. The laundry room smelled horrible, like stale clothing. We did a walk through and my husband was so upset with the situation that he cancelled our reservation here, requested a full refund and we left. I had to scramble to find another place to stay ASAP and we ended up spending 3x as much. It was a disaster!
Yuko was very sweet and welcoming. My room was clean and comfy, as was my bathroom. She made me good coffee every morning and had reliable wireless. A note--this house is about 15-20 minutes drive from downtown Hilo and the coqui frogs can be loud at night--this is true of most places in the outskirts of Hilo.
