The apartment is in a top location in one of Neukoellns hip & most desirable areas - the Schillerkiez. Cobbled and leafy streets centered around a local church give this area a residential but city feel. Since the closing of historic Berlin Tempelhof airport in 2008, the area has enjoyed an influx of families and young creative types from all over the world. More bars, cafes, galleries and shops are sprouting up weekly and the atmosphere on the streets is relaxed and multi-cultural. On your door step you will find a weekly organic food market with the large Oriental Market by beautiful Landwehr canal only a quick 5 min tube ride away. Plenty of flea markets in the area too. The airport has been turned into Europe's largest urban park - you can jog, kite surf, hire bikes/ segways, build a vegetable plot in the community garden, BBQ or even enjoy year round exhibitions or festivals. There are baseball and basketball courts, beer gardens and history centers. It also doubles up as the site for biannual Berlin Fashion Week and its Bread & Butter trade show. Walk down the runway & catch the sunset over the city landscape. Aside from being 100m away from the park, the location also delivers on all other aspects of great city living. The vibrant high streets of Hermannstrasse as well as Karl Marx Strasse are only a short 5 min walk away and offer a range of shopping, dining and other cultural opportunities. The closest tube station is Boddinstrasse (5 min walk) which has great links to all other central areas of Berlin as well as Berlin International airport (35 min). Additionally, Hasenheide Park, a natural woodland park adjacent to the airport park offers another great outdoors experience with various summer activities like festivals and open air cinema screenings. The open air Columbia swimming pool (5 min walk) has, after extensive renovation just been re-opened and is the perfect place to cool of during Berlins summer heat. All you need is WALKING DISTANCE and to top it off, we are two floors above a really nice bar/ cafe!
We also have lots of books and DVDs as well as board games in the flat in case you want to spend the odd rainy day lounging at home and immersing yourself into a Berlin history lesson.
I love to host and will make sure that you have a comfortable and welcoming stay!
Look forward to hearing from you.
You will have the flat all to yourself ... whilst I am not there, my home is your home.

The beauty about this neighborhood is the eclectic mix of people ... students, young families, grandmothers, creatives, tourists and people from other cultures. The cobbled streets lined with beautiful trees and night time gas lamps and its many random cafes and shops make this a real Berlin gem. The fact that this neighborhood is not perfectly polished gives it a real local experience and adds a whole lot of charm. One of the main attractions of course is the huge derelict Tempelhof Airport which has been turned into Europe's biggest city adventure park... you won't find a place like this anywhere else in this world. Nature & history combined into one make this an incredible urban space. Hasenheide woodland park, a large outdoor swimming pool and the proximity to Kreuzbergs bars & clubs make this a perfect city getaway spot.
You will be very well connected here as you have close access to the S-Bahn ring which circles the city. It's only a 5 min walk to the underground station which takes you through Kreuzberg and into Mitte. Also airport access is easy and quick from here. About 35 min to get to Schoenefeld.
Other Things to Note
Since the 1st of January 2014 all private Berlin visitors have to pay the so called City Tax. This 5% tax has to be paid on top of the price you pay on Airbnb and will be collected during the check in. This legislation affects all guests staying in hotels or private accommodation, except for guests staying longer than 21 days, or are business travellers who have proof that they are in Berlin professionally.
For more information please refer to the federal state of Berlin website: http://www.berlin.de/en/tourism/travel-information/3298255-2862820-city-tax-in-berlin-who-is-to-pay-how-muc.en.html
Please remember that you are living in somebody's flat and that there are local, working people in the building that go about their usual lives. Please respect that and keep noise & disruption at night to a minimum. There has been a lot of negative press lately, especially regarding Air BnB and tourists that stay in local people's homes and treat it like a party ground so please be a nice, discrete tourist and respect our home.
Some other points to note:
• If you’re a smoker, please keep it to the balcony.
• Switch off all electrical appliances and lights when you leave the flat. It’s good for the environment, prevents fire incidents and keeps costs low which allows us to offer an even cheaper stay ☺
• Please make an effort to recycle.
