The Space

This extremely private property is a favorite destination for international guests on holiday looking for a relaxing escape as well as the Bay Area and others seeking a break from city living.

Our welcoming home sits on 46 acres of natural beauty including a boutique vineyard and fields of lavender surrounded by thousands of acres of rolling mountains and panaramic views. The home is located at just under 3000 feet elevation in the San Francisco Bay Area bordering the beautiful Napa Valley with stunning, unobstructed views both day and night. This is the highest elevation vineyard in Solano County! We offer estate grown Malbec, Zinfandel and a proprietary blend. You will experience and enjoy luxurious lavender eye and neck pillows handcrafted with silk and cashmere from around the world.

The 2000 sq.ft. home offers 4 bedrooms including a master with private bathroom, two doubles and single with a shared bathroom accommodates up to seven adults (NO CHILDREN PERMITTED). Additionally, a great room with fireplace, entertainment room, full kitchen with 1/2 bath providing all the comforts of home are yours. Enjoy the outdoor patios, grilling area and the custom 20x40 in-ground salt pool.

Our secluded home offers you the privacy to relax, unwind, meditate, and stroll through the vineyards and lavender. It is a perfect setting for you and your family or friends looking for a quiet getaway, an inspired artist, writer, musician or someone simply seeking the space to reflect. There are a multitude of vistas on the property that are simply unique; some beautiful, some inspiring but all unforgettable.

Enjoy the morning sunrise, breathing in the fresh air, and watch the rest of the world wake up around you. If interested, the vineyard and lavender fields give you the opportunity for a learning or working experience far different from the normal day to day you may be accustomed. At the end of the day, reward yourself with a cooling dip in the pool and enjoy a glass of our estate grown wine.

Conveniently located only 35 miles to Napa, 45 miles to Sonoma and 65 miles to San Francisco. Sacramento airport is 50 miles and SFO only 75 miles making it easy access to our home.

We look forward to your visit!

  • My husband and I along with my best friend and her fiancé stayed at Girl on the Hill for 2 nights. We were road tripping from LA to San Fran and wanted something close to wineries. Our initial plan was to come here and go your wineries during the days. But when we arrived, we didn't want to leave! We ended up not leaving the property at all. It is breathtakingly beautiful. The grounds are amazing.

Denise and her Husband were more than welcoming. Upon arrival they met us at the house and showed us around the house to let us know where everything was. A little later that evening we saw them harvesting the lavender so we stopped to chat and they invited us for cheese and wine. They have a sweet dog Bella that is very friendly.

The house had everything needed for cooking including spices, plates, cups, utensils. Also there is a pantry that Denise said we were welcome to anything in it, lots of pastas, soup, canned foods, rice.

The pool was very nice, pool water temp was around 80. We ate breakfast by the pool one morning. What a view!

Denise has lavender products for sale and their estate wine at the house. I purchased lavender neck pillow, lavender roll on oil and lavender mist.

We grilled out both days. It's a brand new propane grill. Very nice.

The drive from bottom of hill
To top was about 25 min. Not bad.

There's so much to love about this place and literally nothing to hate! My only regret is that I wish we stayed longer!

I already want to book my next stay. Highly recommend this property, you won't regret it.

  • Our stay at Denise and Dan's beautiful mountaintop home was absolutely perfect. The house is beautiful with a fully-equipped kitchen, tasteful decor, and plenty of space for our small group of friends. The pool was set in a pretty vineyard with a beautiful view of the valley below, and the surrounding lavender gardens made us feel like we were transported to Southern France. Our hosts were warm and very accommodating, and made our experience truly great. Will definitely be recommending this spot to friends who want to escape the city for a tranquil getaway.

  • Denise is a straight forward host. She is direct and thorough, two qualities I appreciate. The location is lovely, the house is wonderful and well stocked from towels to spices to hats to blankets to pots, pans and kitchen gadgets. Our family enjoyed the pool and the views, as well as the home. It is a bit of a trek to get there but the directions are spot on. About half of the route up Mt. Vaca is gravel. Denise and Denise were welcoming and thorough in their instructions.

  • Our stay at Girl on the Hill was incredible. It was, by far, the highlight of our trip...outperforming a stay on Nob Hill in San Francisco, a resort in Sonoma, and a limo wine tour in Napa. The ride up the hill is a little bit long and bumpy the first time when you don't know what to expect, but what you get at the top of the hill is well worth the drive. The views on the property are unparalleled. The house is isolated enough to feel like a completely relaxing getaway, but contains all the modern amenities of home (and then some). The only questions I had to ask when preparing food at the house were "which of these 3 garlic presses should I use?", or "I wonder what this of the 50 or so spices in the drawer tastes like"?

It was the perfect place for everyone: my dad had access to directTV; my mom found a perfect spot in the sun by the pool; and for me, who lives in a downtown condo and enjoys an evening without hearing the sound of a passing car.

Denise and Dan were fantastic hosts. They were harvesting lavender the weekend we visited and let us watch some of their processes. It was a really nice bonus that capped off an already amazing weekend. They were eager to share and explain when we asked questions, but respected our privacy during our stay. It was everything you would want from an airbnb host. I'm always nervous when I book over the internet and don't know what to expect upon arrival, but this is exactly as advertised - and even better. It's one of those places you've just got to experience for yourself to believe.

Just one tip - remember to bring plenty of food before you arrive. Once you get here, you're not going to want to leave! I'm even thinking of someday running my own vineyard because this place was so wonderful!

  • My friends and I just want to get out of town for a few days and Denise's mountaintop getaway couldn't have been better. It was absolutely perfect, beautiful views, quiet surroundings, cozy gorgeous home! If I could go there every weekend I would! Denise is a very gracious host and it was nice to meet her and have her show is around. You won't be disappointed here! Can't wait to come back :)

  • Denise and Dan were gracious hosts and my two brothers, father and I had an awesome time recording music in the house. We had hoped for good acoustics from the pictures of the high ceiling and the great room, and our expectations were happily exceeded. The environment is very quiet and peaceful--perfect for recording. Thanks for letting us convert your home into the Girl on the Hill Studio! I should also mention that every detail of the decor in the house showed a lot of creative inspiration--such a joy! Looking forward to our next visit...

  • We love our stay at Mountain Top Vineyard. It was a lovely home with plenty of room for our group of 5 ladies. The view was amazing and we were able to have one day of sun to enjoy the scenery. We all want to plan another trip where we spend more time at the house. The kitchen was great with all the tools we needed to make meals including dishware, utensils, and spices. Denise was so accommodating and helped us right away when we had questions. This is a great relaxing place to stay!

  • Is it possible to give above 5 stars? Denise's mountain top was beyond beautiful and her hospitality was lovely. She and her husband gave great recommendations for wine tastings and activities in the area, and the house was equipped with everything you might need to feel at home.
