The house is located near the heart of Santiago. We are in Avenida Sucre. The underground station Irarrazaval is within short walking distance (10 minutes). You can also take the bus - day and night - in Salvador. A 30 mins walk away is Plaza Italia (Station Baquedano) and across the river from there (another 5 mins walk) is the famous neighbourhood Bellavista. You will find various supermarkets and other shops close by. There is a laundry room and private food storage, shared fridges.
You can walk to the Spanish school (about 20 minutes) or take a bus.
Type of accommodation: desk, wardrobe, use of kitchen, telephone, washing machine, smoking permitted outside, shared apartment.
On a clear day, fresh after winter showers, Santiago basks in one of the most spectacular settings of any city in the world. A glance through the downtown blocks reveals a mighty circle of mountains - the snowcapped Andean peaks to the east, and a smaller coastal range to the west - that frames the Chilean capital.
A clear day, however, is rare in this smog-blighted metropolis. In art class, Santiago school-kids draw their horizons a murky gray and, although the air has cleared somewhat in recent years, pollution and noise are likely to cloud your first impressions, especially in winter.

It has been a really great experience staying in America's house. She's a wonderful host, very responsive and helpful. There are other interesting people staying in the house and it is a great way not to feel lonely when traveling abroad. I would definitely stay there again!
