The Space

Apartment number 10 is a bigger apt. It is actually a two bedroom apartment located on the garden level on the sea side of the building. This surely is the most quiet and most relaxing that you could get.

You will enjoy a one of kind sea view with the fortezza castle in a unique landscape. The apartment facilities include a large kitchen room, two bathrooms, balcony (sea view), two wardrobes, free wifi and direct access to the street from its back door.

The feelings on having your breakfast in the garden watching the sun rise above the fortezza is a picture you will never forget.

The apartment is very clean, even though there was no renovation for quite long time (you won't get fancy looking decoration nor designer-furniture) you will definitely get a decent and clean apartment for your stay. In addition we do offer cleaning service every 2 or 3 days, free of charge!.

Mamangakis Apartments are about one kilometer away the city center but it's a beautiful walk or ride with your bicycle, taking advantage of the new bicycle route on the sidewalks of the town. Within a range of 100-150m you will find parking, the best restaurants in town (also right on the sea), souvlaki place, courier service and internet cafe for your breakfast and other needs.

There is a bus stop right outside of our apartments that takes you to the university and another bus stop across the street that takes you to the city center.

Guest Access

Apt10 is equipped with a large kitchen with fridge, instant coffee maker, small oven, two private WCs with shower, a spacious balcony right on garden giving you the advantage of enjoying the garden all day. The garden is available for all our guests and you may feel free to enjoy your meal or reading a book at your convenience. From the garden you step right on the beach! You do not have to walk outside the building or cross busy streets. You will be amazed how close you are on the sea.

Interaction with Guests

As a host i am always willing to help and welcome my guests. Most of the times this is how it goes. But due to family affairs or business matters I am not always present at the apartments. However my mother who is living in the same building is also willing to help at all times. In addition airbnb messaging service is something that i follow almost 24hr so contacting me is easy. If you read reviews from my guests you will understand how much i value my guests' presence at my place.

The Neighborhood

Koubes is the name of our neighbourhood. It is the west side of the city centre. This place is blessed to have a beautiful small, almost private beach for it's residents. This area is also very popular for it's top of the line restaurants and lounge bars. There are actually not many but the two restaurants Almyra (next door) and PrimaPlora (150m down the road) are one of a kind! Maestros (close to PrimaPlora) is a lounge bar & restaurant, kind of club for the locals for a drink later in the afternoon or a little after midnight.
Across the street you may find a coffee place for croissants, coffees etc.
Going towards the city center you may find “Noulis" another coffee and snack place a highly recommended one. A little bit further (250m from our apartments) there is a small mini market for basic stuff (such as groceries, milk to toilet paper)
In case you need a big supermarket you may keep going towards the city center and right before you get in it you will see a big building on your right which is a Carefour Marinopouos s/m. Or you could go westwards from our apartments and uphill (about 700m) where you will find a Lidl s/m (better if you have a car). A bank ATM machine is available little before reaching city center.
Our location is a great value for you vacation. Not far from city centre but far enough to avoid crowds & traffic. You are right on the beach with jaw dropping sea view, very close to the city's main bus terminal (just a 10min walk) and finally very close to the island's main highway that gives you the opportunity to explore the rest of the island fast and easy enough avoiding local traffic.

Getting Around

The main bus terminal (aka KTEL) is only a 10min walk from our apartments. Taking a taxi from city centre to our apartments or vice versa is not more than 5€ - 7€. In addition the island's main highway (aka VOAK) is only 700m away (uphill), a 2min drive and you are on the highway and on your way to the ends of the island or its airports.

You may reach Rethymno and our apartments in 3 different ways. By car rental, by taxi or by bus.
• Renting a car i would say is the best way and the most affordable. It might be a bit stressful on the street but not that hard for a medium & careful driver.
• Taking a taxi either from the airport or with an arrangement (i could arrange such a taxi for you) would cost you from 90 euros (arranged taxi) to 120 euros (airport taxi).

• Finally you could also take the bus which would be the most affordable way but a bit of a trouble. You first you should take a taxi to the city center of Heraklio or Chania (whichever airport you land) and to the KTEL bus service main terminal. From there, there is a bus every hour departing to Rethymno's KTEL bus terminal. From Rethymno main bus terminal (KTEL) we are a 10-15min walk or a 5-7euro taxi.

Make sure you read this note on the wall as it gives you enough information about getting around in your apartment with hot water, wifi password, garden use, apartment keys, doors etc…
