The Space

Situated in large and peaceful gardens, near Auckland City, New Zealand, this retreat is the perfect place to base yourself at.

Accommodation is simple and comfortable. There is a single room or twin/double room available with a shared bathroom, which all look onto the garden.

This listing is for my single room which is NZ$65 per night and includes a delicious organic breakfast. We do not have television, but broadband, yoga classes and a relaxing music collection are available to guests.

If you are after a twin/double room, please see my other listing on Airbnb. It is just NZ$55 pp per night and also includes 'The Breakfast'.

We serve organic vegetarian food, and cater for special diets. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, home-made yoghurt, cereals, grainola or porridge, free range eggs, sourdough bread and home-made preserves. Delicious vegetarian lunches and dinners are available on request.

The Balanced Living Centre is located close to Titirangi Village, the Waitakere Ranges and West Coast beaches. It is 25 minutes drive from the airport and 20 minutes from Auckland city, close to excellent transport. We can pick up or drop you off to the airport for $30 ( up to two people).

Surrounded by tall trees with abundant bird life, it is private and peaceful, yet within walking distance to art galleries, cafes, beautiful bush walks and beaches.

Retreats are available which can include the use of the meditation room, natural spiritual healing ( great for rebalancing after a long flight), or progressive counselling/coaching, respect for silence, use of the library or a long soak in the bath.

  • This is a great place to stay, very relaxing and in a very nice area of Auckland. I got to do a little meditation in the evening and there is some nice walking to do in the vicinity, like up to Titirangi and further towards the shore, here is a beautiful area called Kaurilands. The name is not deceptive at all; there's a bounty of Kauri's here. Angela's backyard is also worth having a look around in. Angela is a very welcoming hostess and serves up a good and plentiful organic breakfast, also very pleasant to have a chat with!

  • Garden Retreat & Organic Breakfast (GR) is an oasis in Auckland. It's a peaceful and well kept house. We have very much enjoyed our stay at Angela's B&B. It was a pleasant stay and the address of the B&B tells you how will be your stay there. Angela is a friendly and helpful host, always pleased to provide you any kind of information. For the second time in New Zealand we were the first Brazilian guests of a B&B and again, it was a honour to us. The breakfast that Angela usually prepares to her guests was the best we had after 25 days in New Zealand. Very tasteful and healthy. Excellent indeed!
It was nice to explore Titirangi area and Angela provided us facilities to it.
We can recommend one thing: see the photos of Angela's B&B and you'll be attracted to be a guest of Garden Retreat & Organic Breakfast. We were!

  • My stay with Angela was delightful, perfect for the solo traveller who would like to be looked after for a few days. The breakfasts were wonderful, flavoursome and nourishing. I highly recommend the evening meal option too, and a treatment if you have time. Angela was very friendly and helpful and I enjoyed relaxing in peace in her lovely home.

  • Everything about Angela's retreat says relax. It is quiet and peaceful and perfect for unwinding. The moment she picked me up from station I felt at ease, with
her happy, calm, and peaceful nature.

The house is light and feels good. Breakfast is included and its amazing. I was a bit out of sorts from not sleeping well at other accommodation so it was a relief to bunker down in a comfortable bed!

I participated in a meditation and also had a lovely healing treatment. Angela also gave me some dietary advice. A fantastic host :)

  • I had a fabulous 2-night stay with Angela at the "Balanced Living Center." She picked me up at the organic market next to the Glen Eden train station, which was a perfect start to my mini-retreat :) Everything about Angela's home helps you relax! The bed in my room was super comfortable and after 2 straight days of traveling to Auckland, I slept very well! The breakfasts were above and beyond on every level. Angela is a fabulous cook and she made fresh fruit dishes accompanied by amazing breads and cereals. All organic and delicious. She also blends her own teas (I had 2 different types of Chai - both delicious). I was also lucky enough to participate in 2 meditation sessions and a yoga class taught by Angela. In just 2 short days I left her place more peaceful than I'd felt in a long time. Thanks Angela!!

  • I had a wonderful stay at the Garden Retreat B&B - it was everything I hoped it would be. My room was very clean and comfortable. I mentioned to Angela that the purpose of my trip was to work on some writing projects and when I arrived, Angela had very thoughtfully arranged a desk in my room, overlooking the garden complete with a little vase and flower on the desk. Every morning I enjoyed Angela's delicious fresh, organic breakfast. The Retreat is very peaceful and I was made welcome to use the meditation room whenever I liked.
The retreat is a short walk away from a beautiful little organic cafe that sells very well priced healthy food.
Angela very kindly took me out on a few walks so that I could see some of the beautiful sights NZ has to offer.
Angela is a great host and will make you feel very comfortable and welcome.

  • An excellent choice to relax and renew in a very tranquil home environment. Angela is quite warm and welcoming. Her home cooked organic breakfasts were great and she was sensitive and accommodating to my diet. She even allowed me to join one of her yoga sessions, and offered some some very appreciated guidance on my diet from her natural healing background. Lots of places to sit and stretch out on the sun deck and throughout the garden. And an easy 15 minute downhill walk into town and the train station.

Her house is an ideal location to visit all of Auckland, in particular Titirangi and the amazing beaches along the West coast. Angela serves up a fabulous breakfast every morning. Her great taste and wonderful hospitality will definitely make you want to come back!
