The Space

I have a south facing, (sun-drenched) room available in Crown Height Brooklyn. The house is a 2 bedroom. You'd have one of the 2 and I, (the owner) would be in the other.

The room is private and cozy with an open plan closet with hangers. It has a very comfy queen bed with new high thread count sheets. It also boasts a lot of space under the bed for luggage or anything else. There is an air conditioning unit, (NEW UPGRADE), for your comfort on hot nights and a heater for those chilly ones. Extra blankets available.

As you can see in the pictures, the main room is a kitchen/living space which is shared. There is also a balcony outside the main space and I'm working on the large backyard which will eventually be a great place to relax.

The apartment comes with free WiFi during your stay, and I provide a set of towels as well. (No one likes to travel with towels).

The Kitchen could be called a chef's, (because it's big). The oven is convection and amazing. The cooktop is induction which allows for very precise cooking by heating the metal in the pans directly, (space age). You're welcome to cookware and dishes, and you'll have your own small fridge. I also have a very functional kettle. (If you've spent time in England, you know the importance of this).

The neighborhood is awesome with the house located just off Franklin Ave which has lots of great restaurants, bars, and shops. We have a wonderful supermarket 2 blocks away.

The Subways A,C,4,5,2,3 are all within 5 minutes. I get to midtown in 25 minutes easy. The A train which come from JFK airport is 4 blocks away at Nostrand Ave. Airport to my place in about 40 minutes.

There are lots of alternate side parking spaces in this part of Brooklyn. If you need it, Parking will not be a problem.

I love to meet new people and share New York attractions. If this is your first time to New York, I'd be happy to point you in the right direction for a bit of fun and sight seeing.

If you or a friend is interested in the room, let me know and we'll go from there.

Sorry no pets and smokers outside only.

Thanks for looking.

Handy Note: The stairs up to the apartment are temporary, they're not super pretty, but they do the trick. (I'll be replacing them eventually).

  • I had a lovely time staying at Sam's apartment. It really is a great spot if you want to explore Brooklyn, also easy to get the subway to manhattan and lots of great food places nearby. Sam is a thoughtful host and organised detailed maps if the area and was always really helpful with recommendations and suggestions. The apartment is also nicely furnished, simple but groovy as well. I would definitely visit again if the opportunity arose and would recommend Sam as both a host and a guest.

  • We completely enjoy the neighborhood , real alive , great contact with the people , lots of shops & bars on Franklin st , we recommend
the "Café Allégria" on St Marks st for their bagels breakfast , Sam was a good host if you put apart the fact that we didn't saw him often because he was working and we were doing a hard schedule visiting ,but it was an overall good experience for our first Air b'nb trip .

  • Sam's place is SO GREAT! I love that it's very "speak-easy"-ish where it looks mysterious and uninhabited from the outside but once you get inside it's cozy and eclectic and warm and a beautiful treasure inside the city. You can get a sense of Sam's taste just by looking around the apartment -- from the oriental rug to the rainbow catchers in his planting pots, the unique furniture sets to the books on his shelf and hanging plants. The area felt a bit sketchy really late at night, but it's a cheap cab ride away from really fun areas. It's only a few blocks from the subway, too. My friend and I found an adorable coffee shop down the street called Little Zelda that has great pastries and coffee for the morning, as well as an amazing cheese shop next door called Wedge (try the grilled cheeses!!!!!).

Sleeping arrangements were large and very comfortable-- the light comes in through the window perfectly in the morning. Sam has speakers that we enjoyed very much as well-- if you're a musician, the main room has great acoustics. The shower had strong water pressure and got hot right away. The floors are a bit unfinished, but that's part of its charm. He also has a balcony to go and sit on outside with your feet hanging over the garden in the back.

The only problem we had was that we really wanted to cook, and the stove was an electric stove that wouldn't turn on. It was having technical difficulties, but I'm sure he'll get it fixed asap. Sam is very helpful, friendly, and down to earth-- I only met him briefly to pick up the key, but he seems like an awesome guy and a person I definitely would have wanted to spend more time with. All in all, we had a great experience staying at Sam's place...and you should too!

    Response from Sam:

Quick note: The stove works fine, Elana was having a problem, because I left her the wrong pan, which doesn't work with the electromagnet my induction stove uses. It was my fault, but the stove works fine and is ready for cooking.

  • Great stay! The apartment is beautiful and spacious and had enough room for three (or even four) adults. Sam was very helpful with getting my visiting relatives situated and was quite helpful and accommodating. We liked the fact that the apartment was close to the green and blue subway lines with easy access to downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan for sightseeing. Also, a plethora of restaurants and grocery stores are in walking distance. Would recommend!

  • Ideally placed between two subway lines in an interesting and exciting part of Brooklyn. Photos of the apartment are accurate. We had a relaxing stay and felt that we were able to become part of the Brooklyn scene, not just tourists. Found a lot to do in Brooklyn itself and enjoyed discovering coffee shops, Restarants and music venues, sometimes in unexpected locations. Only a short trip by subway to Manhattan, so a great location to experience the fun of NYC. Sam was very accommodating, a great host. We were very impressed by his energy and endeavour as he seeks to further develop his property. Keen to come back.

  • Sam is a very helpful and friendly person to be able to bunk with in my short stay in NY. Right at the beginning, he gave me a map pinpointing places of interest and places to go to in the neighborhood. A very community based neighborhood, it gives off a welcoming aura. Brooklyn is definitely a place to stay at least once in NY!

Hi there, I'm a clean organized person. I work in fashion and love all thing art and design. I'm very easy going and respectful. I'm interested in traveling broadly and living locally. When I travel, I prefer to live as much like a local and stay away from the "main attractions". I love vintage and antiques. I love motorcycles. I love breakfast. I love to read and understand current affairs. I love a good chat and to learn about other peoples professions, especially if they're passionate about them.
