About This Listing
Looking forward to having you down here on the Island!
I have a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom Historical Island Cottage that you can rent out entirely to yourselves. I can meet you to check you in and show you around and then I will be staying less than 30 mins away if you have any questions or need anything at all during your vacation.
The entire home is decorated in a tropical island theme and is extremely welcoming! One of the guest rooms has a queen bed and is decorated in a palm theme while the other room has a queen size wooden futon with a very thick and comfortable Serta mattress. You have use of the whole home, large back deck with 4 burner propane BBQ, front porch and the rest of the house. Feel free to use the kitchen as long as you clean up after yourself.
I'm only about 1 mile from the beach for surfing, tanning, swimming and fun in the sun! Plus I'm 2.5 miles from the historic "down town" Strand area. Also the house is less than 4 miles from multiple harbors and boat ramps if you want to sail on Galveston Bay! Stay at my house to make your Galveston Island vacation affordable. Please contact me with any questions you may have!
Also there is a good possibility that my dog Cookie will be at the house during that time as I will be living on a boat while you are enjoying your stay at Island Cottage. She is super friendly and stays in the kitchen with a doggie door to the laundry room and back yard. She stays in the kitchen and the back door from the kitchen is connect to the outside. If you are a dog friendly family this would work great, although if you are not pet friendly this may not be the right option for you even though she will not be all over the home unless you let her out with you.
Thanks for looking through my listing. Check out my pictures and my Guidebook on my other page, and please contact me with any questions you may have!
FYI - There is a 6% State Hotel Tax and a 9% City Hotel Tax that every vacation rental in the state of Texas must pay with any booking that is less than 30 days. These taxes are not included in the quote.
Please only contact me if you are a normal and courteous person who picks up after themselves. I ask that you will leave everything in the house just as you found it.
Make yourself at home and feel free to use the whole house and yard/patios except the master bedroom and bath. I just ask that you leave things as you found them and use common courtesies please. I have sheets and pillows on the beds and towels for you to use after showering as well.
Kitchen - There is always coffee, dry creamer and filters on top of the fridge. You can use the kitchen and utensils for cooking as long as you clean up after yourself and feel free to use my spices, sugar, condiments and any other items like that. I ask that you purchase your other items for cooking though.
Dogs - We recently lost our girl Ginger after 12.5 years as part of the family. It was heartbreaking. Cookie is doing well, but really enjoys the extra attention now since she is missing her sister. She is very sweet. But she is also quite smart and pretend as though she is starving so you will feed her people food. Do not be fooled, if you feed her people food sometimes she get sick and that is not something you want to clean up on your vacation! Thanks for only feeding her only dog food and no more than 2 dog treats per day.
If you love the dogs you can have her in the living room with you when you are home watching TV, reading, ect but I ask that you don’t let her on the furniture or leave her out in the common areas while you are gone, please. While she is out in the living room with you they should (hahaha) “lay down” on her beds or the floor, if you tell her to “lay down”. If you prefer you can leave her in the kitchen when you need a break, Cookie can be an attention hog and quite exhausting. At night time it is probably best to leave the doggie door open so she can go the bathroom if she needs. Although if she are barking too much outside (which is extremely rare) at night, you can close it and keep her in the kitchen where she doesn't bark. Just be sure to let her out when you get up so she can take care of her business.
Thanks so much for feeding her while you're there if we are out of town for the weekend. We will feed her Fri evening, but starting Sat - Sun (If you rent the whole house and we are not there at all during that time), you can give her a full scoop every morning and night. Also please make sure she always has water in her big bowl and that would be great! The water bowl is really big and I just fill the rectangle clear Tupperware (on the breakfast table) with water at the sink and pour it in the bowl every morning or night. That keeps it easy!
Summer AC- I live in a historical home in Galveston and the front 3 rooms of house are over 100 yrs old, and were originally a Train Depot back in the early 1900's. The rest of it was added on over the years to make it a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home. Due to the age of the home, it is very expensive to keep the house cool in the summer. I just ask that you take that into consideration when choosing what temperature to keep the house at while you are visiting. The fans in all the bedrooms works great on high and will keep it pretty cool!
The most important thing is that you enjoy your stay, so please let me know if there is anything else you need or that I can assist you with to make you time on the Island more enjoyable!
Thanks so much!
Jeanna's Island Cottage was very comfortable and spacious. We loved the tropical decor and our family had plenty of room inside and outside. It is well located to the beach and attractions of Galveston. We felt more like locals than tourists staying in a hotel/motel. This was great value, staying in a lovely home with all the great amenitiesi!
Jeanna was a terrific hostess, very flexible and quick to respond to our questions and needs. We loved her recommendations and tips on things to do, places to go, etc. When we return to Galveston, Jeanna's Island Cottage will be our first choice of places to stay.
Jeanna was excellent! She was so attentive and her house was beautiful. If I ever had any questions or concerns she would be there to reply immediately. She had great tips on places to visit in Galveston, and her home was near everything! I would recommend this home to anyone, and me and my friends have nothing but great things to say about our host and stay. We also miss Cookie and Ginger! They were so sweet and adorable. Thank you Jeanna for making our Spring Break 2013 so memorable! I will definitely be back.
We had a great time staying at Jeanna's Island Cottage! We had 6 big guys in our group and there was plenty of room for all of us. Jeanna was a very gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed and then some. She was easy to talk to and had some great ideas for things to do while we were there. The house was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. It was also close to the Seawall and the Strand, which was convenient for Mardi Gras weekend. We would definitely come back!

About the Host, Jeanna
As a traveler myself I'm excited for the opportunity to allow people to visit Galveston Island for a reasonable price; the hotel prices can be ridiculous here in the Summer. I'm a great person who likes sharing her home with others. I also enjoy cooking, strength training, scuba diving sailing, and anything else that has to do with the water!
