Beautiful Victorian with extensive gardens and pool. 1/2 hr from NYC via commuter bus on corner or train 2 blocks away. Walking distance to many restaurants, movie theater, parks, grocery stores.
This is a 2nd floor bedroom w/ queen Sleep Number (adjustable firmness) bed and shared bath. The room has a desk and dresser. There is no space in this room for an additional mattress or bed. The bathroom is shared in the sense that it is the 2nd floor hall bathroom so there is no direct entrance from the bedroom to the bathroom. However no one else actually uses that bathroom. I have plenty of off-street parking. Free wireless internet. FIOS. Guests may use the extensive public spaces, including two parlors, dining room, 2 TV rooms (1st and 3rd floor), and eat-in kitchen.
Outdoors, the garden has flowers April-October. The pool is open June-August, although I can open it earlier or leave it open later by special request and with enough notice. In the pool area are a several tables with chairs or benches, plenty of lounge chairs, and a gas grill. There is a lovely screened-in gazebo with comfortable seating and a small table with benches. The gazebo gives a completely different view and feel to the gardens. Near the gazebo is a pond and stream with a bench.
This is a good house for children age 5 and up, especially in the summer when the pool is open. No child is allowed in the pool without a parent or responsible adult watching. The house is not toddler-proof so I prefer not to have children under 3-4 years old (except babies).
I will allow pets, but only by special prior arrangement.
I also list two other rooms with airbnb, both on the 3rd floor: Mermaid (queen bed + roll-away twin) and Trains (2-3 twin beds). This room cannot accommodate a third person as there isn't enough floor space for another bed, but either of the 3rd floor rooms can hold a third person (for an extra fee).
The business part of our trip was not so much fun, but staying with Juliet made up for it!
I'm tempted not to leave *too* much good feedback for fear that her place will get too popular and she won't have any room the next time we want to stay there! ;-)
Thanks for another great stay, Juliet!
Another very nice stay with Juliet. Looking forward to our next, very soon!
We enjoyed our stay immensely. Juliet's house is wonderful, the garden and pool delightful, and a very convenient location.
We will be staying again next time we visit our daughter in Hoboken.
Beautiful house with a fabulous garden and pool. The house is in a perfect location near shops and restaurants and the bus/train to the city. It was a perfect getaway for a weekend. The room is comfortable and clean. Juliet is a very nice host.
Juliet was a great host. She was very flexible with our schedule and made us feel right at home. Taking a swim in the pool after a long day was awesome. I wish we had had more time to wander through the garden, it was quite impressive looking.
Quaint old victorian with beautiful gardens, pool and gazebo. Juliet made us feel right at home. I have a new friend and favorite place to stay in Montclair!
We hope to stay at Juliet's lovely home again in the future, as we enjoyed our time there very much. If you appreciate Victorian architecture and beautiful gardens, this is the place for you!
Juliet made us feel very at home, and we enjoyed getting to know her.
Beautiful gardens, and easy to cordinate with host. House was dated inside and room was nothing special. We had an issue with plumbing and I appricated that the host gave us some money back because of it. Tasty breakfast in the morning. Felt the price was too high for the condition of the room and house. Juliet was nice.
The mansion is simply amazing, pictures don't give it the credit it deserves. Situated in a quiet neighborhood but walking distance from Upper Montclair towncenter, it's the ideal spot to relax for a long week-end. The pool is a great addition and we enjoyed it a lot. The best thing of our stay was the gazebo which sits at the heart of a beautiful garden. That's the perfect place to read a book, surrounded by flowers and birds. Juliet is a wonderful host, she made sure that everything was okay and she even offered us hamburgers for Labor Day. Don't forget to ask her for chocolate chip-blueberry pancakes. No maple syrup required !
