Interaction with Guests
We are in the Tin Front Cafe every day for the cottage guests convenience. Guests are welcome to use the cafe as an entrance while we are opened.
We found the cottage very nicely presented, clean and tidy and well-equipped - especially the great kitchen (good coffee maker).
The hosts were very welcoming and made us feel at home, and we had a lovely meal at the Tin Front cafe on our first evening.
We did find the trains a bit noisy at night (they sound their whistles as they go through a nearby crossing) and while the house itself feels very secure, we felt a little uneasy entering through the back alley (from the carpark) after dark.
Great hosts, very cozy and it was nice having the cafe just next door! Thank you for a wonderful week in the Pittsburgh area!
Daniel and Judy were very friendly and helpful. The apartment and courtyard were beautiful and the cafe delicious.
We came into town late on the 4th of July, and I was worried about checking in and getting the key. There was no problem. The apartment is behind the cafe, which has a courtyard. The apartment was quiet (except for the curfew alarm) and comfortable with soft towels and beautiful curtains made from saris sewn together. It was nice to sit out in the courtyard in the mornings and relax with coffee and a good book.
I HIGHLY recommend the yinzer salad at the cafe. I initially chose this Airbnb because I had been to the cafe on a previous trip to Pittsburgh. We were so sad we missed the vegan blueberry pancakes.
My wife and I booked this place on short notice over the New Year's holiday. Judi and Daniel were not at their shop in front of the cottage for most of the stay, but check-in and check-out were painless. The apartment was perfect for two people, would probably be OK for three or a small family. Great kitchen for cooking and staying in. The apartment was perfectly clean and everything seemed brand new. The heat was an issue as the lower level stayed pretty cold and the upper warm. Also, wifi was spotty at best and only usable in parts of the house. However, the owners are aware of these issues and I think it will be an even nicer place to stay once the kinks are worked out.
It was really nice to stay in a part of Pittsburgh (actually its own city, Homestead) that I hadn't visited before. Some nice bars and shops nearby, and an easy drive to the East Side (Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, etc.).
It was a pleasure to stay in Daniel & Judi's cottage. The space is comfortable, with a fully-equipped kitchen (gas range, full-size refrigerator, and single-serving espresso machine). Parking was a breeze in the private lot out back. Daniel and Judi were kind and quite accommodating. There are plenty of local amenities, too. The cafe is just beyond the front patio. It is just a couple of blocks from a full shopping center & supermarket, and about 20 minutes from CMU/UPitt. A great experience overall, especially good for folks with a car who plan to spend some extended time in the East End.
