Three bedroom home with garden, pet-friendly with pets on premises, in a good neighbourhood with access to lots of shopping (Atwater market), restaurants, outdoor space (Lachine Canal), history, and nightlife (the Corona Theatre included). Welcome!

The Space

My townhouse has two bedrooms to welcome you for your stay - one has a comfortable single bed, and the other is a queen bed. There is easy street parking and I have a private parking spot, just ask about it when you make your reservation.

If you are four or five guests (my place is listed for three), please let me know - there is room to make space for more when need be. I have a separate listing for when this is the case.

Guest Access

The kitchen is available to use pretty much freely, including spices, oil, flour, and rice, the basics for cooking. You can also help yourself to the tea (many kinds, including Yerba maté) and instant coffee if you're like me and it's the first thing you do when you get up, though please do not treat my other food and drinks as your own; ask first.

We have WiFi. You can make yourself at home in the common areas of the house and in the living room there are speakers so you can plant your laptop down and watch it like TV.

Downstairs there is laundry and my den/home office - where you can watch TV and DVDs (no cable). Please warn me before going downstairs as it's where I work and sometimes sleep. Two punky rabbits and two rascally rats live there, it is their space too, and so yes, it can be a mess! Hervé and Elisabeth will come upstairs to visit us when they want eat, hang out, or otherwise be pets.

You are more than welcome to hang out in the back yard - birds and squirrels frequent it, and bats at night can sometimes be seen. That's also where any smoking is to be done.

Interaction with Guests

As an experienced guest and host, I enjoy the company of others and hope you will be comfortable in my home. I can provide breakfast on one morning of your stay - your choice of when. The rooms have a mini tourist-information library that you can tote with you on your trips around town.

The Neighborhood

The neighbourhood has many good restaurants in different price ranges. Some are upscale. There are also two trendy pubs. The Lachine Canal provides you a nice walk, as well as many other historical sites on the way to Old Montreal. A short walk up the hill takes you to the heart of downtown in 20 minutes.

Getting around

We are 3 blocks from metro Lionel-Groulx, where there are buses that go all over the city and the west island, including the 747 to and from the airport.

Other Things to Note

**Before inquiring to stay with me, please make sure that you have filled in your profile with a photo, where you are from, who you may be travelling with, and something interesting about yourself.** Openness of information is important to me.

  • Jane was a charming host: warm, welcoming and prompt in answering all my queries. Her backyard is a quiet haven in the city and central enough to be close to everything, especially Atwater Market and the Lachine Canal.

  • I was in Montreal for a few days, attending a conference I was speaking at, and stayed at Jane's place due to the proximity with the venue. Unfortunately, with the conference and the large amount of work I had, this was more of a business trip than anything else- and I didn't get to socialize with Jane and discover the area as much as I would have liked. Nonetheless, the room was clean & comfortable, and Jane's house was a great place to call home for a few days. Thanks!

  • I had two good nights at janes house. She is a interesting host with some different views to discuss. The neighbourhood is quiet and its about a 30 min brisk walk to st catherine and guy. The underpass of the highway is a little scary at night that i suggest a different route or the metro or a cap. The description of her home is certainly what you can expect. I must admit that i missed reading the rat part and i honestly dont like rats running around, while i have breakfast( my mistake ) . Its absolute mandatory to close your bedroom door as jane ask you , since the rat chewed a hole in my fortunately cheap bag in few moments we both forgot to close the door after she showed me the room. In general i can recommend her place if you dont mind little creatures running around.

  • I stayed with Jane with my 11 year old. He was super excited about the pets and was not disappointed. Jane is a true animal lover and we really enjoyed our time at her place. The neighborhood was great. Super convenient to the metro and to the 747 bus from the airport. Room and bathroom really clean and comfortable. The neighborhood near by had good coffee shops and restaurants and a place to pick up some groceries. Jane is very friendly and easy going. We had some great conversations and I feel like I made a new friend.

  • Jane was a very pleasant hostess. Her description of her home is pretty (email hidden)'s a little farm in the city. Sweet rabbits, and 2 intriguing rats right out of the movie Ratatouille. So be prepared to live in that setting. I was bit cold the first couple of nights re the Montreal weather was in a cold spell and she conserves heat. But once it warmed up outside my room was much more comfortable to sleep in. She's a lovely, amiable person who walks the talk of many animal rights and environmental sensitivities.

  • Jane let us use her spare room on Xmas eve. I was surprised and thankful. She's also got 3 rabbits. Very cute.

Friendly, loves to listen and talk (but not so much about herself), pragmatic, idealistic with a broad realistic stripe, likes to wear cowboy hats and kerchiefs (but not at the same time), wears the work boots around these parts, cooks and cleans and talks to animals every day, sings. In others words, she's the best kind of peasant broad (or Disney® princess) there is. She reads (mostly) tough books and writes a blog, and is presently organizing a start-up (two, actually) with respect to project management and sustainability (green retrofitting).
