The Coon Creek Camping Cabin is a remote and rustic cabin in the Medicine Bow mountain range. This cabin is for the adventurous camper who wants to get off the beaten path. It has aerial views as well as trail head access and close to the Sand Dunes. Free Trailhead parking with a short 3 minute hike to your cabin (recommend packing light). Enjoy the quiet beauty of nature in this truly Wild place. Hike into the Non motorized areas of the State Forest or bring your ATVs for some fun in the Sand.

The space
This camping cabin is a small one room shelter with 2 twin size bunk beds (4 spaces), a wood stove w/wood, table and chairs, and a Kitchenette. There is also a two seater outhouse a short distance from the cabin. A covered porch with a buck-rail fenced yard makes you feel right at home...

Mendenhall Trailhead parking.
Gravel/Dirt County Road access with a short two track driveway to the trailhead parking area. You can see the Cabin across the drainage from the trailhead (there is no vehicle access to the cabin). AWD is not necessary to get to the Trailhead unless conditions have been unusually wet, and then it would be recommended.

Other things to note
The camping cabin does not have running water so you will need to pack in water or filter it from the creek. The mattress' do not have bedding so bring the bedding you like... ie, sleeping bag, pillow, blankets, etc...
Please keep your campsite clean so critters don't pay an unwanted visit...
Remember to pack light for the short hike from your vehicle to the cabin. This Cabin is permitted thru Colorado Parks and Wildlife and has seasonal access only on the State Forest State Park
