About this listing
This beautiful apatment was oiginally built in the early 20th Century, and has recently been restored to its lovely past glory. 5 min from the pot, 5 min from the train and bus station, and one street away from Calle Mayor, the main shopping distict
The apartment was restored about 10 years ago, but maintains man original features: the flooring, windows, woodwork, ceilings, balconies, etc. are all orginial.
The building is in the style of the "typical Catagenero" architecture, with two balconies on either side of an enclosed balconette.
The decorations are made from oiginal furniture and works of art, which I have restored myself.
The guests are free to enjoy the salon, balconies, kitchen, and bathroom. Beakfast is included, which is coffee or tea, toast, orange juice, etc.
I have a small organic garden, so I usually cook my own vegetables.
Interaction with Guests
I am as available as you´d prefer. I enjoy sharing my lovely city with others, but I also espect your privacy.
The neighborhood is the "Casco Antiguo," or "Old Town" part of Cartagena, near the port. This is the "classic" port town that has existed since 500 BC. The area is rich in shopping, restaurants, bodegas, cafes, and rich culture of the typical Spanish life.
Also, you can easily access many beautiful beaches in the area, including Cala Cortina (a 5 minute, 6 Euro cab ride from the apartment), Calblanque, Mazarron, La Manga, Cabo de Palos, and many more.
Nearby are the ancient Roman Theatre (which dates back 2000 years), Museo Arqua, Molinete, The Catagena Perfoming Ats Center, Catedral, and Roman excavation site.
Surrounding the neighborhood are the ancient remains of the old walls, castles, and gun batteries once used to protect the valuable port. Now, they make for great hikes and mountain biking routes.
There is a bus system around Cartagena, but it´s easily walkable. For more information, see (website hidden)
The apartment was amazing, in the city center, near to both entertainment and cultural points. And Maria is a perfect host, she made our stay very comfortable!
The room was very cozy - with starlights above a bed and a balcony to the quiet street. The appartament is located close to the city center. Maria is very nice and easy-to-communicate host!
My stay was short - only three days, but Maria made the experience entirely wonderful. From the moment she welcomes you at the door, you're at home. The apartment is charming and cozy and perfectly located. She even invited me to spend the day at the beach with her family, which was so fun and beautiful. She is extremely kind and she does everything to make you feel comfortable. I had a perfect experience staying at Maria's home.
Felt as if i had known her for years, very welcoming and helpful, she spoke French which was an advantage as I do not speak Spanish
Met some nice people and loved the city
Maria was a very good host and her place is really well located.
Maria es tremenda persona y su sitio esta muy bien localizado
Maria is welcoming and her apartment is intetesting and quirky. It is brilliantly located. Unless you want some sleep during Semana Santa (Holy Week). While the celebrations are interesting the noise is overwhelming. I also found the nights cold without a blanket on the bed. It was also difficult having a smoker in the house.
