Yuko was a gracious and supportive host, including lending me a bicycle for my stay. The accommodations were simple and clean, and it was an easy bike ride to downtown Hilo.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Yuko was very welcoming, even offering to pick up and drop. Place is like a loft (huge!), however, you got to share the toilet with business occupying the same building. All in all Yuko's AirBnB was a very pleasant experience. Doubt you can find better for the price. Amenities and bars nearby PLUS the legendary Palace Cinema (antique) around the corner.
I didn't stay at Yoko's regular place but in a room she assigned to me smack in downtown Hilo. It was a somewhat strange arrangement in what looked like a photographer's atelier with a medical practice next door. The room was huge with a big table, lots of chairs and sofas and a bed tucked away in a corner. Shower and bathroom was located in the medical practice. This may not be practical for some people but for me it was fine because I was there on a weekend when there was nobody at the practice. But the staff there was very nice and helpful when I checked in on Friday afternoon and made coffee for me when I left on Monday morning. Wifi was good and strong but there was no TV. It was a surprise and unusual alternative lodging but one that worked very well for me.
