The Space

Sunny downtown studio on the top floor of a turn of the century brick building. One block west of the Art Museum and South Park Blocks, literally around the corner from an awesome new Safeway, five blocks from PSU and the Farmers Market. Building has an elevator.

Southern facing apartment has a new queen size murphy bed, small entry foyer, walk-through closet, eat-in kitchen, shower, tub, desk with older iMac computer, and wireless internet.

The city streetcar (the NS line) stops in front of the building (SW 11th and Jefferson) and connects the Downtown/Pearl/PSU/Nob Hill/South Waterfront districts. There is now a second streetcar service (the CL line) that shares this stop and connects downtown with the close-in east side, including the Lloyd Center, Convention Center, Rose Quarter and OMSI. Visit (website hidden) to learn more.

The southbound streetcars stop in front of the building, and the northbound streetcars stop is one block east, beside the Art Museum. Street parking is metered from 8am to 7pm, Mon-Sat, and 1pm-7pm on Sundays. If you go a few blocks west and cross I-405 you can often find unmetered street parking.

Apartment stays powerfully warm and cozy in the winter thanks to endless hot water and an intense, fully adjustable gas heater. Being an idiosyncratic old building, the bathroom is unfortunately without an electrical outlet, so the hairdryer lives in the kitchen cabinet where there is also an extension cord if you want to use the bathroom mirror at the same time.

Please enjoy your stay and feel free to use anything in the bathroom or kitchen (what little there is). Call me anytime with issues or concerns.

  • This place has a great location- walking distance to the Art Museum, Grocery Store, Stumptown Coffee, Powell's Books, the Blues Festival and all of the great bars/restaurants in the Pearl District. Only a short bus ride to Washington Park, Voodoo Donuts and the Chinese Gardens. Also, right in front of the streetcar station. Everything was well kept and super clean. Forrest was extremely accommodating to our late arrival time and very helpful in answering all of our questions. Only two minor building warnings: the bathtub for the shower is older so it has a slightly curved bottom and high sides, and the elevator is a bit scary to ride in because of abrupt stops.

  • Excellent apartment - neat and well set up with everything we needed for our short stay in Portland. The location is super convenient to transport etc - we had a great time.

  • Forrest was a pleasure to deal with. He was easy to contact, and instructions were very clear. The apartment was exactly as advertised and totally met our expectations. It was clean and well presented. The neighborhood was in a great location, directly on the N/S Streetcar line, very close to the MAX, but also within walking distance to pretty much everything. Would definitely stay here again if we ever visit Portland in the future.

  • Great trip! My wife and I really enjoyed the stay. Forrest was a great host, and made sure we were settled in, despite some conflicting schedules and us arriving early. It's a very conveniently located spot, well within walking distance to a ton of bars and restaurants. Highly recommended!

  • Location was great. A few blocks away from Portland Art Museum and Portland State University (which "hosts" a Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings). And basically a 10 min walk to Old Town/Chinatown. The apartment is clean and airy and hardly any noises at night. The neighborhood is safe to walk at night and lit. The wifi was very slow, though. We never met our host; however, his instructions very thorough and his email responses were fast so we felt secure. TV watchers, be warned... there is none. I loved that there wasn't a TV but some people might not like that.

  • Forrest was very helpful throughout our stay in Portland. He also leaves up to date handy maps and guides for those new to Portland (helpful for people like me). The location of the apartment is ideal for on foot exploration of the city.

  • This was in a great location and the apartment itself was totally adorable. Very clean, great decor, soft comfy bed - stunning light. I stayed here instead of the hilton for a conference and my colleagues were jealous!

  • My stay at Forrest's apartment was everything I could have asked for and more.

The space was great (just as advertised) and the location is perfect for anyone who wants to see the city. I didn't have a car so I didn't have to deal with parking, but there appeared to be ample parking located all around the building.

I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to stay in downtown Portland and I will def be back asap.
