[[Reduced rates through the winter as there will be construction underway on the lot next door; the activity and noise will be taking place during business hours, so if you plan on mainly being here in the evenings than you shouldn't notice much. Plus side is there is now a view of the city and a even more light.]]
Sunny downtown studio on the top floor of a turn of the century brick building. One block west of the Art Museum and South Park Blocks, literally around the corner from a modern Safeway, five blocks from PSU and the Farmers Market. Building has an elevator.
Southern facing apartment has a new queen size murphy bed, small entry foyer, walk-through closet, eat-in kitchen, shower, tub, desk with older iMac computer, and wireless internet.
The city streetcar (the NS line) stops in front of the building (SW 11th and Jefferson) and connects the Downtown/Pearl/PSU/Nob Hill/South Waterfront districts. There is now a second streetcar service (the CL line) that shares this stop and connects downtown with the close-in east side, including the Lloyd Center, Convention Center, Rose Quarter and OMSI. Visit the Portland Streetcar website to learn more.
The southbound streetcars stop in front of the building, and the northbound streetcars stop is one block east, beside the Art Museum. Street parking is metered from 8am to 7pm, Mon-Sat, and 1pm-7pm on Sundays. If you go a few blocks west and cross I-405 you can often find unmetered street parking.
Apartment stays powerfully warm and cozy in the winter thanks to endless hot water and an intense, fully adjustable gas heater. There is no AC in the building. Being an idiosyncratic old place, the bathroom is unfortunately without an electrical outlet, so the hairdryer lives in the kitchen cabinet where there is also an extension cord.
Please enjoy your stay and feel free to use anything in the bathroom or kitchen. Call me anytime with issues or concerns.
///Unfortunately, I do not book more than 4 months in advance.\\\
I don't have many house rules, I just ask that all guests show respect for my home, return it to the same general state as you found it, and keep noise to a minimum for neighboring apartments. I do not allow smoking or pets in the house.
Forrest's space was located in the idea location for a trip to Portland. A few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of downtown area. He was very quick at communication and I felt very welcomed inside his home. What you see is what you get in his photos. Instructions were very clear. One complaint can only be made from the construction right outside of his apartment in the mornings. I for one was not annoyed by it, as it served as my wake up alarm in the mornings to get started on my day. But just be aware of that. All-in-all a very positive experience. I would gladly stay again. Thanks, Forrest.
My best friend and I stayed there for the weekend and we absolutely loved our stay! It was perfectly located in downtown and super close to PSU. The street car ran right in front of the building so it was easy to get around. The apartment had everything and it was really nice to have resources available to read about the city. Perfect place for two and close to restaurants and a Safeway!
Forrest was easy to communicate with, he always replied quickly and was very helpful and accommodating. The apartment is in a central location, definitely within easy walking distance to everything downtown Portland. The apartment itself is very well looked after and makes a comfortable stay for one or two people. There was a live construction site next door during my stay, which was quite noisy during the day, so just beware that you might need ear plugs if you want to sleep in. Overall a really comfortable place and Forrest is a fantastic host!
Forrest's place is great! It's location allowed my girlfriend and me to walk around downtown and get to a Max station very easily.
It was easy to find, get in and check out. Although we never got to meet Forrest since he was busy at the time, he maintained a clear communication channel via text at all times.
It's a clean and really interesting looking place that we'll definitely consider again whenever visiting, if it's available.
Forrest's studio is in an excellent location in downtown Portland, either walking distance or a short ride on the streetcar to anything in downtown or the Pearl district. The studio is clean and well set up for a single person or couple with all the required basic amenities. It is a vintage building so expect a bit of vintage charm.
Forrest was quick and accurate in all his communications so making arrangements, checking in/out was all very easy. As mentioned in the description, there is a construction site next door where work starts around 7am so best for folks who are away during the day. Everything is quiet at night. It is a very good deal for such a great location.
The neighborhood is great and the apartment is very well-located. It was extremely comfortable, and Forrest was really good at communicating. We felt very welcomed and really loved how nicely decorated the apartment is. This was the perfect alternative to the giant cookie cutter hotel our conference took place at.
Me and my boyfriend really enjoyed staying at Forrest's appartment. It was easy to communicate with Forrest before our arrival, and he welcomed us in his appartment when we arrived. The appartment is everything that you see on the pictures, it is trendy, cozy and has everything you need. The location of the appartment is perfect, and you find yourself in walking distance to everything :)
