About This Listing
[[Reduced rates through the winter as there will be construction underway on the lot next door; the activity and noise will be taking place during business hours, so if you plan on mainly being here in the evenings than you shouldn't notice much. Plus side is there is now a view of the city and a even more light.]]
Sunny downtown studio on the top floor of a turn of the century brick building. One block west of the Art Museum and South Park Blocks, literally around the corner from a modern Safeway, five blocks from PSU and the Farmers Market. Building has an elevator.
Southern facing apartment has a new queen size murphy bed, small entry foyer, walk-through closet, eat-in kitchen, shower, tub, desk with older iMac computer, and wireless internet.
The city streetcar (the NS line) stops in front of the building (SW 11th and Jefferson) and connects the Downtown/Pearl/PSU/Nob Hill/South Waterfront districts. There is now a second streetcar service (the CL line) that shares this stop and connects downtown with the close-in east side, including the Lloyd Center, Convention Center, Rose Quarter and OMSI. Visit the Portland Streetcar website to learn more.
The southbound streetcars stop in front of the building, and the northbound streetcars stop is one block east, beside the Art Museum. Street parking is metered from 8am to 7pm, Mon-Sat, and 1pm-7pm on Sundays. If you go a few blocks west and cross I-405 you can often find unmetered street parking.
Apartment stays powerfully warm and cozy in the winter thanks to endless hot water and an intense, fully adjustable gas heater. There is no AC in the building. Being an idiosyncratic old place, the bathroom is unfortunately without an electrical outlet, so the hairdryer lives in the kitchen cabinet where there is also an extension cord.
Please enjoy your stay and feel free to use anything in the bathroom or kitchen. Call me anytime with issues or concerns.
///Unfortunately, I do not book more than 4 months in advance.\\\
I don't have many house rules, I just ask that all guests show respect for my home, return it to the same general state as you found it, and keep noise to a minimum for neighboring apartments. I do not allow smoking or pets in the house.
Forrest's place was great! Clean, great location. Couldn't ask for a cooler spot, especially since I booked last minute. Easily within walking distance of the Art Museum and Pearl District and the street car stops about 50 ft from the front door. Only knock on it was on Monday, the construction goin on next door started up early. But , obviously, out of Forrest's control. Overall, had a great stay. When I had to text Forrest, he replied quickly. Thanks again , Forrest
I had a great time staying at Forrest's place. The apartment definitely has a cool vibe and some unique touches, with things like the desk, flowerpot iMac, art on the walls, and the old-timey elevator in the hallway. It felt big for a studio, there was lots of natural light in the common areas, and the kitchen worked well for making dinner. The bed is super comfy. Having all the info on the computer for easy reference was very helpful, and Forrest also had links to Portland craft breweries and other travel tips on there, which was appreciated. As advertised, the apartment was literally steps from the streetcar, and in an awesome location for exploring Portland. There was some noise in the morning from construction next door, but if you close the windows and turn on the room fan at night it helps.
The only issue I had was that the door key was nearing the end of its life, and fell apart in the lock; however, Forrest answered my call about this right away, and quickly came over with a fresh set of keys. I appreciated him being close by and his fast response :)
Although I didn't get to meet Forrest he was a great host - he replied to communication quickly and gave plenty of information. The apartment is a beautiful, light, nicely decorated place in a wonderful old building. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of things. Would stay again!
Forrest has a warm, inviting, comfortable apartment. It was very conveniently located and made for a great home for the week.
We had a great stay in Forrest's apartment. It is perfectly located close to public transport and is the perfect place to base yourself in Portland. The bed is super comfy and if it gets cold there is a gas heater which will warm the place up in no time. There can be some street noise but after a long and tiring day of sightseeing it should not be a problem for most! Forrest was a great host and communication was no problem. Recommended :)
This is a great little place right near the center of downtown Portland. The apartment has everything you might need and Forrest was very helpful. He returned my messages quickly as well. The only thing I'll mention is that there is construction going on right next to the apt but it wasn't a problem for me since I wake up early. I would gladly stay here again. Thanks Forrest!
The description was very accurate. It was in the middle of the city and very easy to walk to fun areas. He also warned us about the noise and we were glad he did. The bed was comfortable and the apartment was cozy. Parking is pretty inconvenient becuase only pay parking is available, but that was the norm.
