The Space

The villa features a tranquil and spacious living area and stays refreshingly cool in the hot Andalusian summer months. Relish in incredible vistas of the coast below, the mountains above, and ample nature & trails all around. Guests particularly enjoy relaxing, mingling, &/or dining on the extensive front terrace, the outdoor nook and pool areas. The house is a shared house and it is very likely that there is other guests and myself living in this property during your stay. There are seven bedrooms and this is the advert for the bigger bedrooms (with overflow to other smaller bedrooms) and large private balconies with stunning views. You will have your private bedroom and bathroom (unless otherwise arranged), and will share communal areas such as the kitchen, sitting room, terraces, garden, pool, outdoor nook, barbecue, and so on. All guests are free to enjoy a dip in the private swimming pool in the summer months (approximately April through October), in addition to a large communal pool that is a two-minute walk from the villa, with a lovely traditional Spanish restaurant at great prices (this communal pool is free on weekdays and about 3E on weekends; open approximately June through September).
The building is quite cold in winter due to its size, marble floors and location up the mountain (small radiators in bedrooms and log fire in the sitting room to help get a bit of warmth in the colder winter months).
There are a variety of lovely nature walks & hikes, within very close vicinity to the villa. For the more adventurous traveler, there are various activities to partake in, such as climbing, downhill biking, scenic routes, water sports, and you are free to join me for painting & drawing in the artist's studio , or surfing in the ocean. :-)

Guest Access

Guests have access to their own private bedroom and bathroom, all the grounds, including swimming pool, garden, kitchen, living room, terrace, barbecue, outdoor nook / chill-out space, sun beds.

Interaction with Guests

I like people and I tend to interact with guests depending on how much they like to interact with me. I like to think that I know when people want to be left alone and leave them alone.

The Neighborhood

The beautiful villa, with its stunning views, is approximately a 20-min walk from the centre of Mijas Pueblo, a quaint & traditional white-washed Spanish village with cobbled streets, horse carriages, local artisans, and donkeys. There is a small supermarket that is a short 5 minute walk, and a small restaurant that is a 3 minute walk from the villa. For young children, there is a small park approximately three minutes away and a large communal pool at a stone's throw. In Mijas Pueblo you can find slightly bigger supermarkets and in Fuengirola you can find beaches, big supermarkets and a more lively tourist city, atmosphere.

Getting Around

Getting around from Mijas Pueblo is quite easy, as you have a variety of options at your disposal: from walking, to buses, to cycling, &/or perhaps you have your own private vehicle. If you have a vehicle, the entire Costa del Sol is within easy reach. Otherwise, buses are also available at the doorstep of the house that will take you into the centre of Mijas Pueblo, (which is also a 20-minute walk from the home) or will take you in the opposite direction towards Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga city. A half hour car ride away is the Andalusian capital city of Malaga, with its rich history and myriad places of interest, such as the Picasso museum, old castle and cathedrals. The local bus also connects you to the Costa del Sol train system, which extends along the coastal towns from Fuengirola to Malaga. The bus stop for buses into the bustling coastal town of Fuengirola is a scenic 15 minute walk from the house, there is also a large bus station in Fuengirola with buses regularly departing to towns and places of interest such as Granada, Ronda, Marbella, La Linea (walking distance to Gibraltar), and Algeciras (a ferry port to Morroco). On average the buses to Fuengirola from Mijas Pueblo depart every 30min (note: early morning & late evening buses often have1-hour intervals and the last bus from Fuengirola to Mijas is at 21:30 but taxi's are also available).
Trains stop at Malaga airport and can leave you in Torremolinos or Fuengirola where you can then get buses up to Mijas Pueblo or, depending upon my availability, we can arrange pick-ups from the airport and nearby areas, in exchange for an arranged donation.

Other Things to Note

The place is ideal for people that love nature, walking in the mountains, relaxing, sharing and mingling with other guests. There are also a few chickens on the land that lay eggs and if there are extra ones, you are more than welcome to them. There is also some time and spearmint growing around the garden if you want to make some herbal infusions :-)
