This wonderful villa is up in the mountain at the foot of a nature reserve. It is big and spacious. Enjoy taking the sun, getting refreshed, relaxing by the garden, terrace or balcony having a glass of wine with others or privately.
The beautiful villa, with fascinating views, is at a 20 min walk from the centre of Mijas Pueblo, a quaint typical spanish town with cobbled streets and known for its stunning views and donkey rides. Mijas has thousands of Tourists visiting it every year from Japan, Europe and other countries.
From Mijas it is a 20 min bus ride to Fuengirola beach town where you will also find beautiful beaches, a busy night life and the larger supermarkets (the closest bus stop from Mijas to Fuengirola, from the house, is at a 15 minute walk). If you have a car the whole Costa del Sol is within easy reach but there are also buses at the doorstep to the house that will take you to the centre of Mijas Pueblo (if you do not want to walk along the beautiful scenery for 20 min), Torremolinos and Malaga (the city where you will find a lot of history and places of interest such as the Picasso museum, old castle and cathedrals). The bus will also connect you to the Costa Del Sol train network which goes along the coastal towns from Fuengirola to Malaga. From Fuengirola you can also get buses to beautiful towns such as Ronda, Marbella etc
There is a small supermarket within a 4 minute walk from the house and a bigger supermaket in the centre of Mijas town.
The villa is quite old and has a bit of a rustic feel. Apart from myself, it is very likely that there will be more people coming and going from the house a bit like a hostel. It is very probable that there is a dog and maybe even more than one dog in the premises. There is a private swimming pool in the summer months on top of the communal pool that is open until the beginning of September. Free wifi access.
The building is quite cold in winter due to its size, marble floors and location up the mountain (small radiators in bedrooms and log fire in the sitting room to help get a bit of warmth in the colder winter months).
The two main rooms in this advert have big balconies overlooking the garden, mountains and sea. In the morning you can watch the sunrise from your bedroom and if you like more privacy you can enjoy the evening meal or morning breakfast peacefully taking in the surroundings and talking on your private balcony table and chairs.
The villa has very peaceful and spacious living area, with a large communal swimming pool at a one minute walk from the house which has a nice ¨chiringuito¨ style restaurant (free on weekdays and about 3 euros on weekends). Wonderful nature walks and hikes very close by on the impressive mountains of Mijas. There are different activities in the area, apart from the usual tourist attractions, like hiking, climbing, downhill biking, scenic routes, water sports etc or you could join me in doing some painting and drawing in the studio in the house! The villa boasts log fire, a hectare of private grounds, plenty of parking, breathtaking views and an amicable host willing to share with you his knowledge of the area, Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco. Southern Spain (Andalusia) probably has more days of sunshine, a year, than any other country in Europe.
Come and enjoy!
Guests have access to all the grounds including the swimming pool, garden, kitchen, sitting room, terrace, barbecue, chill out space, sun beds. Guests will not have access to occupied private bedrooms where other guests are staying.
Interaction with Guests
I like people and I tend to interact with guests depending on how much they like to interact with me. I like to think that I know when people want to be alone and leave them alone.
The villa looks over a small neighbourhood like a castle on a hill. There is a small supermarket there that you can walk to in 5 min and also a small restaurant 3 min away from the house. There is also a small park for kids.
Mijas Pueblo is a great little classic Spanish town. It has amazing views and cobbled streets, parks, gardens, white houses, old chapels, friendly people, a big parking for 1€ a day and donkey rides.
You can get around on buses, walking, on private car etc. The house is at a 15-20 min walk from the town of Mijas and it is a bit hilly. I walk and go on bicycle quite a lot to the town of Mijas Pueblo. I usually go on bus to work in Fuengirola (the beach town) and it takes 15 min to walk to the nearest bus stop that goes to Fuengirola. There are also buses that stop just outside the house if you don't want to walk. The buses that stop just outside the house go to the centre of Mijas Pueblo and all the towns in between Mijas and the city of Malaga which include Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga. There is a coastal train that goes in between Malaga and Fuengirola, there are some train stops that are beside bus stops where you can get buses back up to Mijas Pueblo where the house is. You just have to be aware of bus and train times but on average they leave every 20-25 min depending on the time of the day or night.
From Fuengirola you can also get buses to Marbella, Ronda, Granada, La linea (walking distance to Gibralatar) and all the other beautiful towns and cities in the area. You can also get a bus to Algeciras where you can take a ferry to Morocco.
Other Things to Note
The place is ideal for people that love nature, going to the beach, relaxing, sharing and enjoying...
Smoking must only be outside of the house.
Ask me before you bring somebody else into the house.
Try leaving the place better and cleaner than you found it.
Be truthful and transparent.
Do not make fires in the garden in summer.
Do not use up unnecessary electricity and water.
Be friendly to other guests.
Staying at Andrew's place was an exceptional experience for us, definetely a highlight in our trip, one that we will cherish for a long time!
The house is located in a beautiful rural area, with breathtaking view on mountains, quiet and peaceful, but 10 min drive to the beach and to Mijas.
The house is big and guests can enjoy full privacy on the one hand, but benefit from the company of other guests in the shared kitchen or the garden. There was a very interesting multicultural gathering during our stay and we had great conversations over a glass of wine at night and shared breakfast in the morning.
Andrew is a very special and intersting person, a pleasure to talk to, and amazing as a host: thoughtful, caring, helpful, fair and constantly striving to improve every little detail in the house.
Hoping to come back soon and enjoy once again the special atmosphere of this house!
Andrew is a great host. We loved the room and the house. It is located on a beautiful spot. All in all, very nice.
Peaceful house, relaxed atmosphere and outstanding host. Beautiful walk into Mijas (about 1 km)
Andrew has a beautiful home with a relaxed atmosphere. He honors each guest with his great spirit and easy going manner. The home is located on the east side of Mijas, a short, and beautiful, 15 minutes walk to the center of town. I believe Mijas is one of the most picturesque and friendly towns in all of the Costa del Sol. Its central location is also perfect for day trips to Marbella, Malaga, Rhonda and Nerja. If you are looking for a clean and friendly place with beautiful views of both the mountains and sea, and to “feel at home," you will love it here. The kitchen is large and shared by guests which often led to people sharing meals (and wine) and great conversation. I stayed for 4 days, left and came back unexpectedly for another 9 days because I truly love and missed Mijas, the house, Andrew, and the chickens. (Yes, he has chickens!) While I was here, there were single people, couples, families with children and people of all age groups, yet everyone seemed equally comfortable and relaxed in this house. The bedrooms are spacious and most have private bathrooms. I would highly recommend this home, with the best of both the mountains and sea, for all travelers, young and old.
We were group of 12 friends from Finland spending one week in July 2014 in Los Gringos, Mijas, and we had truly amazing holiday! First of all, Andrew was a great host. :) Since the very first email the communication worked very well, we received prompt and kind replies to all our emails and questions. Andrew was also very flexible and stayed awake when we arrived in the middle of the night. He also arranged all the rooms so that the couples had double beds and also managed to prepare one extra bedroom in the middle of the week for one friend joining spontaneously later. Andrew took care of our towels (extra towels for the beach), and bed sheets etc, and we had own fridge and closet for our foods and drinks. He also gave us many good recommendations for the activities and day trips, e.g. swimming and jumping in the river in Benahavis (approx 45min with car from the villa) was a superb experience!
The villa itself is very nicely located in the mountains, close to Mijas (20min from the Malaga airport with car) and Fuengirola beaches. We rented cars from Malaga airport and did day trips, e.g. to Malaga, Gibraltar, Ronda, hiking and playing golf. There are many activities around but it is also very convenient and relaxing to spend a day via the pool in the villa. We spent many evenings in the villa and prepared dinners in the kitchen and BBQ - the dining table is great for 12 people and is nicely set outside.
All in all we enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely recommend this to everyone! :) Greetings to Andrew, you were amazing host!

Hello, my name is Andrew, I have been living in this beautiful town of Mijas for about twelve years. I like this part of the world because the weather is fantastic and you can meet people from many different countries. You can be one day in the mountains skiing and on the same day on the beach sunbathing.
I work two days a week in an international school teaching art. Apart from that I do different art works, some translating and take care of this wonderful place where I live.
I am quite a relaxed person and I enjoy sports like surfing and snowboarding.
I like meeting new people and sharing this beautiful house and surroundings with them.
