About This Listing
This charming villa is nestled at the foot of a nature reserve, enjoy relaxing by the garden, having a refreshing dip in the pool, meeting other guests or a romantic evening with a glass of wine on your private balcony while enjoying gorgeous views.
The villa features a tranquil and spacious living area and stays refreshingly cool in the hot Andalusian summer months. Relish in incredible vistas of the coast below, the mountains above, and ample nature & trails all around. Guests particularly enjoy relaxing, mingling, &/or dining on the extensive front terrace, the outdoor nook and pool areas. The house is a shared house and it is very likely that there is other guests and myself living in this property during your stay. There are seven bedrooms and this is the advert for the bigger bedrooms (with overflow to other smaller bedrooms) and large private balconies with stunning views. You will have your private bedroom and bathroom (unless otherwise arranged), and will share communal areas such as the kitchen, sitting room, terraces, garden, pool, outdoor nook, barbecue, and so on. All guests are free to enjoy a dip in the private swimming pool in the summer months (approximately April through October), in addition to a large communal pool that is a two-minute walk from the villa, with a lovely traditional Spanish restaurant at great prices (this communal pool is free on weekdays and about 3E on weekends; open approximately June through September).
The building is quite cold in winter due to its size, marble floors and location up the mountain (small radiators in bedrooms and log fire in the sitting room to help get a bit of warmth in the colder winter months).
There are a variety of lovely nature walks & hikes, within very close vicinity to the villa. For the more adventurous traveler, there are various activities to partake in, such as climbing, downhill biking, scenic routes, water sports, and you are free to join me for painting & drawing in the artist’s studio , or surfing in the ocean. :-)
Guests have access to their own private bedroom and bathroom, all the grounds, including swimming pool, garden, kitchen, living room, terrace, barbecue, outdoor nook / chill-out space, sun beds.
Interaction with Guests
I like people and I tend to interact with guests depending on how much they like to interact with me. I like to think that I know when people want to be left alone and leave them alone.
The beautiful villa, with its stunning views, is approximately a 20-min walk from the centre of Mijas Pueblo, a quaint & traditional white-washed Spanish village with cobbled streets, horse carriages, local artisans, and donkeys. There is a small supermarket that is a short 5 minute walk, and a small restaurant that is a 3 minute walk from the villa. For young children, there is a small park approximately three minutes away and a large communal pool at a stone’s throw. In Mijas Pueblo you can find slightly bigger supermarkets and in Fuengirola you can find beaches, big supermarkets and a more lively tourist city, atmosphere.
Getting around from Mijas Pueblo is quite easy, as you have a variety of options at your disposal: from walking, to buses, to cycling, &/or perhaps you have your own private vehicle. If you have a vehicle, the entire Costa del Sol is within easy reach. Otherwise, buses are also available at the doorstep of the house that will take you into the centre of Mijas Pueblo, (which is also a 20-minute walk from the home) or will take you in the opposite direction towards Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Malaga city. A half hour car ride away is the Andalusian capital city of Malaga, with its rich history and myriad places of interest, such as the Picasso museum, old castle and cathedrals. The local bus also connects you to the Costa del Sol train system, which extends along the coastal towns from Fuengirola to Malaga. The bus stop for buses into the bustling coastal town of Fuengirola is a scenic 15 minute walk from the house, there is also a large bus station in Fuengirola with buses regularly departing to towns and places of interest such as Granada, Ronda, Marbella, La Linea (walking distance to Gibraltar), and Algeciras (a ferry port to Morroco). On average the buses to Fuengirola from Mijas Pueblo depart every 30min (note: early morning & late evening buses often have1-hour intervals and the last bus from Fuengirola to Mijas is at 21:30 but taxi's are also available).
Trains stop at Malaga airport and can leave you in Torremolinos or Fuengirola where you can then get buses up to Mijas Pueblo or, depending upon my availability, we can arrange pick-ups from the airport and nearby areas, in exchange for an arranged donation.
Other Things to Note
The place is ideal for people that love nature, walking in the mountains, relaxing, sharing and mingling with other guests. There are also a few chickens on the land that lay eggs and if there are extra ones, you are more than welcome to them. There is also some time and spearmint growing around the garden if you want to make some herbal infusions :-)
Smoking is only allowed outside of the house.
Ask before you bring somebody else into the grounds.
Try leaving the place better than you found it.
Be truthful and transparent.
Do not make fires in the garden.
Do not use up unnecessary electricity and water.
Do not use metal utensils on non-stick frying pans.
Do not put hot pans on kitchen surfaces as they are plastic and will spoil.
As soon as you wash wine glasses they should be dried and put in their shelf with the other glasses and not left to dry in the washing rack where it is very likely that they will break.
A very pleasant, amiable chap. He went above and beyond to help and he was very welcoming to his home. Very chilled!
Andrew is a wonderful host. Upon arrival, he escorted me to the house from the BP station. He immediately made me feel very comfortable and in the evening showed me the town with its beautiful views and good food. The home is very large and spacious and I was afforded a large room, bathroom included with a wonderful balcony with a fabulous view of mountains and the sea. I took advantage of the pool each morning which was delightful. The house is located just outside the main town which gives you the feel that you are living in the countryside. Thank you Andrew for making my stay a very restful and interesting one. I will return!
Fantastic place, exactly as described...only better!! So much so, that I extended my stay. The villa is kept spotlessly clean. The kitchen is very well equipped. The showers are excellent. Andrew is a superb host, thoughtful & helpful, always willing to respond to requests for advice on local travel & things to do.
The location of the villa is beautiful, easy walking distance to Mijas town, but just far enough out of town to give rural feel! The views of the surrounding mountains & down to the sea are stunning. The large gardens, with several shaded, comfortable seating areas, make for a completely relaxing stay. The pool is an added bonus!
I enjoyed interesting conversations with other guests, while everyone could also have as much privacy as they wanted.
I recommend Andrew's home for a relaxing, peaceful holiday. I look forward to returning. Andrew has the knack of making the villa feel like a "home" while there. Top marks !!! :-)
Andrew nous a bien reçu, en arrivant il nous a présenté les hôtes qui occupaient les lieux, et nous a installé dans une chambre en nous demandant si cela nous convenait. La maison est située en dehors du village, et bien au calme.
Staying at Andrew's place was an exceptional experience for us, definetely a highlight in our trip, one that we will cherish for a long time!
The house is located in a beautiful rural area, with breathtaking view on mountains, quiet and peaceful, but 10 min drive to the beach and to Mijas.
The house is big and guests can enjoy full privacy on the one hand, but benefit from the company of other guests in the shared kitchen or the garden. There was a very interesting multicultural gathering during our stay and we had great conversations over a glass of wine at night and shared breakfast in the morning.
Andrew is a very special and intersting person, a pleasure to talk to, and amazing as a host: thoughtful, caring, helpful, fair and constantly striving to improve every little detail in the house.
Hoping to come back soon and enjoy once again the special atmosphere of this house!

About the Host, Andrew
Hello, my name is Andrew, I have been living in this beautiful town of Mijas for about twelve years. I like this part of the world because the weather is fantastic and you can meet people from many different countries. You can be one day in the mountains skiing and on the same day on the beach sunbathing.
I work two days a week in an international school teaching art. Apart from that I do different art works, some translating and take care of this wonderful place where I live.
I am quite a relaxed person and I enjoy sports like surfing and snowboarding.
I like meeting new people and sharing this beautiful house and surroundings with them.
