As well as hosting many Bridal parties, we have also become well known for hosting very small intimate weddings of no more than 20 in the surrounding gardens of the cottage, providing the venue, accommodation, country surrounds and platters.
For our Bridal parties we recommend a minimum of a 2 night stay, or further nights, if you have time for a mini-moon. We recommend you stay the night before the wedding for the Bride & Bridesmaids or Groom & Groomsmen and the night of the wedding for the new Bride & Groom.
And for small intimate weddings, we also recommend a minimum of a 2 night stay and a maximum of no more than 20 people. We recommend you arrive the day before your wedding and set up and have the wedding the following day and then the second night together as Bride & Groom.
Please enquire if you’re interested in getting married at The Stables, and note there is also a venue hire fee on top of the accommodation cost.
We are also a perfect escape for those couples wanting to celebrate a birthday or anniversary, a weekend getaway from busy work lives, needing some quality time to catch your breath & recharge those batteries or as a stop over before heading north to our beautiful Northland. A getaway for couples to play golf at some of our outstanding local courses or visit wineries & the iconic Muriwai Gannet colony & eat some superb locally grown produce at our extensive eateries.
The Stables sleeps 4 people across 2 bedrooms – a King bed in the master and a Queen bed in the second bedroom with a possible option of a pop-up airbed in the living area for a fifth person (extra cost incurred at the owners discretion).
The quaint bathroom features a shower/toilet and through the french doors a rustic & old claw foot roll top outdoor bath with a spa pool beyond.
The open plan living/lounge area is light and airy with dual opening french doors onto a lovely north west facing deck ensuring almost all day sun, yet cosy in winter to snuggle up on the couch with throws and play games, catch up on movies or just read a book in the winter sun.
The Cottages outdoor deck is in complete privacy to the main house, offering fantastic tranquility and a real rural aspect, often with cows in the paddocks adjacent to the Cottage. (don't touch the electric fences)
Below the Cottage is our little Olive Grove with a small levelled off area for intimate weddings or to sit amongst nature and take in the night sky by the firepit (dependent of fire permits/seasons) and enjoy the tranquility and rural aspect.
The outdoor entertaining area has a Weber Baby BBQ, comfortable rattan lounge seating & a square outdoor dining table & chairs, spa pool and the outdoor bath under the eave off the bathroom.
The Cottage is airconditioned providing coolness over the hot summer months & toasty warmth in winter - with lovely custom curtains & blinds ensuring its beautifully cosy, peaceful & private. Fans for each bedroom are also provided in the warmer months.
The fully equipped Kitchen makes for easy do it yourself cooking or we can cater for you on request with Platters & Cakes (check with Becs on availability). We have extra chapmpagne flutes, glassware, crockery & cutlery for when hosting small weddings & Bridal parties.
A delicous complimentary breakfast basket is supplied with a selection of granolas & cereals, fresh local sourdough bread, free- range eggs, a selection of milks & home-made baking. The fridge and pantry are well provisioned with condiments and staples.
If you are requiring a slighlty earlier check-in or later checkout - we are more than happy to try & accommodate this if we are able, however, please enquire as it depends if we have bookings on either side of your stay.
For a checkout after midday we have a $300 surcharge - please enquire with Becs.
(the surcharge is because we have to close off the night of the later checkout as we cannot clean the cottage and have it ready for guests the same afternoon.)
If you are a Bridal party or a small intitmate wedding - we highly recommend a 2 night stay.
Please note The Stables Cottage sits in the grounds of the owners garden, the owners driveway seperates the Cottage and the farmhouse - so you will hear a car or farm bike pass when it does, however your living and outdoor spaces are in total privacy to the Farmhouse, with only rolling hills and bush to overlook you.

Other things to note
The Stables Cottage is situated 30 metres from our own farm house, the driveway seperates the Cottage & the farm house.

We do advise that we are Adults only accommodation, this is purely for health & safety reasons - as we have several open waterways close to The Stables as well as electric fencing above the Cottage that back onto paddocks, however we do warmly welcome young families who accept these hazards and take full responsibility for themselves & their families safety & well being and ensure their children do not leave their sight.
