The Space

Perfect for couples. Private ensuite bathroom, kitchen to use, breakfast included and balcony with view of the gulf. 5 minutes walking distance from town. Very safe. We have great personal attention, fresh home made breakfast served every morning with different options. All tours pick up from our reception and we can help booking them for no extra charge.
** All Rooms are private with private bathroom!

Camino Verde B&B is a "Bed and Breakfast" style lodging opened in 2009 and located on the edge of Santa Elena. The B&B is laid out in the style of a family house and guests are encouraged to treat it as their home. The building was in fact once the owner\'s family home which gave inspiration to this "'Tica House" designed hotel.

The B&B is situated a 5 minute walk from the town centre of Santa Elena, but is far enough away for it to be quiet and have more rural surroundings. This is the perfect option for those who crave the quiet side of the countryside but who require the amenities provided in a town.
Facilities...
Camino Verde B&B comprises private rooms which sleep 2 to 4 guests. Four of the rooms have shared bathroom facilities and the rest are en suite. For the rooms with private bathroom the prices are $25 for one person, $35 for a double, triple $45 and quadruple $55. Rooms with shared bathroom costs $15 for a single and $20 for a double. All prices include breakfast and tax.

There is a kitchen and a communal area here which B&B guests are welcome to use. Here there is a computer with internet connection, plus Wifi is available for guests with routers in the communal areas of both the B&B and Tina\'s Casitas.

Breakfast is free for all guests and is served from 6am until 9am. However the staff are very flexible and an earlier breakfast or packed-breakfast can be arranged if you have an early morning tour, just give them prior warning the evening before. There are three options for breakfast: the first is the typical Tico dish of eggs, rice and beans and toast; the second is fried or scrambled eggs with toast; the third is a fruit platter served with toast. Real coffee and orange juice is also available for every guest.

Check-out time is 10am but guests are welcome to use the communal areas all day if they have a late bus to catch. Camino Verde also offers a luggage storage service.

The friendly staff on reception are also experienced tour agents so can give out impartial advice on all the local companies. Furthermore they can share their countrywide knowledge of Costa Rica and organise any ongoing travel. Upon arrival at the hotel they give all guests a map of Monteverde and mark out all the different tours and activities that various companies offer in the area. This way guests learn about what is available to them and can suss out how long they might like to stay for. If required they can create "pick and mix" packages of various activities to suit each individual.

Please let us know if you need any help on getting to Monteverde! We can help you arrange a Shuttle or a Taxi Boat Taxi if your coming from Arenal, For example, the taxi boat taxi is $25 a person and Shuttle from San Jose to Monteverde is $39 p.p

Also, Just to let you know, there are a lot of fun things to to here, and since we have an Info-Center we can help you arrange anything with great discounts! Prices you will find online will be higher, and availability wont be a problem, so there`s no need to book tours in advance.

Let us know if you have any questions about the B&B or on things to do!

  • I loved the location of Camino Verde and it is a super value. I was amazed how isolated Monte Verde is to have such a great internet connection. I loved the vibe of the common area and having coffee and tea available for us at any time. Both hosts very knowledgable about tours and activities and made great recommendations. There is a great soda to eat right next door and we had 2 nice meals there. Everything in town is easy walking distance and located very close to Camino Verde. For the price this is wonderful and I highly recommend it!

  • Both Andres and Jose were great hosts. They were happy to respond to all requests and helped us out in booking the tours we were interested in in the area. The location of the B&B is great, walking distance from downtown but isolated enough to have a wilderness feel. The B&B has free coffee all day and local beer available for only a couple bucks. There was also a big HDTV where we could watch the World Cup :) Both my fiance and I had a great time here and would definitely recommend Camino Verde to our friends.

  • Camino Verde was more than I expected. Clean, comfortable, great breakfast and nice common area. I was traveling with my 10 year son and Andreas helped me schedule (and get better prices than I could have) on all my activities after I arrived. Overall great place and very helpful if you are not fluent in Spanish and need a little extra honest help.

  • Long bumpy drive to monteverde. We arrived late afternoon and it was raining. Andres was very helpful and (website hidden) was very clean. Andres has social kitchen living room area witch was great! Especially on a rainy day, he has bord games, beer for $1, access to kitchen. Again he was very helpful booking tours for us for the best price :)
    Def recommend this place!

  • I would recommend this place to ANYBODY. Andres and Jose are super nice and helpful, they were able to book all our activities and made everything stress-free and enjoyable. The first evening we got there, they gave us a map with all the info we needed to have a great time (good restaurants, good tours, etc.). Also, the breakfast there is AMAZING. Good portions and delicious! Also, the rooms were cleaned daily by the friendly staff which was very nice to come back to. Such a cute little b&b, we really felt welcomed and at home the moment we arrived. The town it is situated in (Monteverde) is perfect, small enough for a tourist to get around easily without being stressed out or getting lost, but has all the stores one needs to get by. Definitely don't rent a car if you're staying there, everything is so accessible and easy to get to. There are also many wonderful restaurants and sodas nearby with delicious and affordable food (all in walking distance). All in all, we loved our stay and we hope to be back soon! Thanks guys!

  • Our experience was excellent, due in large part to how amazing Jose is. He was always willing and able to help with everything, from booking canopy tours to catching bugs in our room. He always had an excellent attitude and a great sense of humor! Beyond that, breakfast was delicious and much heartier than what I've seen at many other B&Bs. The location was great - tours come and pick you up at the B&B, and it's just a 5-10 minute walk to restaurants in town.

  • Camino Verde was great! Amazing location, yummy breakfast, and Andres and Jose were super helpful with setting up all the local activities we wanted. The B&B had a great atmosphere, very friendly and casual. We felt like part of the family! Of course Monteverde itself is incredible - from adrenaline pumping ziplines to nature hikes to wildlife spotting, we had a fantastic time here. I highly recommend!

Just as a heads-up, if you decide to rent a car like we did, part of the route from San Jose is unpaved, winding road. It was a fun and beautiful drive, but 4WD and a GPS are a must.

  • We had an amazing stay at Camino Verde! Jose was very helpful in sharing activity recommendations, and loved our room/common areas to get to know other guests. The location is very convenient and scenic. Highly recommend!

  • Camino Verde is a true gem. Comfortable and clean, it provides just the quiet retreat you need after the long drive up to Monte Verde. Andres and Jose were extremely helpful giving us great advice on things to do, even arranging transportation for everything. The small property is perched on a hill top offering sweeping views of the canyon from the back porch. Everything you need is within easy walking distance, we were happy the B&B was away from some of the loud hustle and bustle of the budget hostels that are more centrally located.

  • Andres and Jose were extremely helpful. The BnB is the best value I have seen in Costa Rica. They have great service. Andres helped us negotiate a new tire with our rental company when a mechanic came to replace our flat. Jose was very helpful with tour bookings and printed us a new ticket when we had lost ours last minute. Overall, room has shower, bed, and bathroom. Perfect for short visits. Breakfast was also very generous.
