The space

Explore Kauai from this central East Coast location, enjoy mountain and jungle views from your lanai! The cottage is set on 2+ acres and is perfect for a single person or couple. It offers:
Comfy queen-size bed, shower bath, living room, dining area, well equipped kitchenette, gas grill on lanai, TV, wireless internet access. Shared washer/dryer, beginners' surfboards.
We know the island well and will be happy to assist you with your island adventures!

If it's the season you might want to pick starfruit, passion fruit, yellow- and strawberry guava on the 2+ acre compound; coconuts are available year-round and shampoo ginger will give your hair that special shine.

Just 5 minutes walk from the cottage you'll reach Steelgrass Farm. My brother-in-law offers educational tours of his chocolate farm 3 times a week! Very informative, fun and utterly ONOlicious.....bring some dark chocolate, raw Kauai honey and vanilla beans back for the folks at home!

Just 3 miles down the hill in Kapa'a town you find all the shops, restaurants and cafes you might like to visit. Right by the Moikeha canal and the historic Japanese lantern you'll see the quaint public library with internet access. Of course, there are numerous cafes as well that offer wifi: Small Town Cafe, Cafe Hemingway and Starbucks, to name a few. And yes, you got to try Olympic Cafe for Happy Hour on Fridays, 4 to 7, cheap beer and free tacos!
That's just a few places in Kapa'a town........

The closest beach which is safe for swimming at any time is Lydgate Beach Park, right next to the Wailua River mouth. it's a 60-acre park with lots of amenities, walled seawater ponds, showers, pavilions, picnic tables, barbecue pits, playground, lifeguard station and a 2-mile-long path for walking, jogging, cycling and more. Just North of Kapa'a town is beautiful, wide open Kealia Beach; great for surfing as well as bathing at the North end. This beach boasts a life guard, covered pavilions, shower/bathrooms and a long stretch of that multi-use path which will take you to big, wild Donkey Beach! During your walk you might see humpback whales breaching out there.......from December till May.

Charlotte provides so many extras that add to an already great Hawaii experience. She provides: beach towels, umbrellas, beach chairs, cooler with reusable ice, shampoo, body wash, lots of towels, extra sheets, two different sizes of pillows...and many more amenities. Her place is quiet as can be, the bed is very comfortable and the shower has lots of hot water. The cottage is big with a nice couch, dining room table, and every appliance and cooking item you could need. The location was perfect for us....only a couple of miles out of downtown Kapaa and centrally located on the island. I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else on our next visit to Kauai.

The cozy cottage was the perfect place to stay for our honeymoon! The information provided is accurate and informative. We found the location to be a great central location to explore much of Kauai. The town of Kapaa is just a few minutes away and provides nice grocery, coffee shops and restaurant options as well as some very nice beaches. It also allowed us to get to the northern or southern parts of the island in a reasonable amount of time. The cozy cottage itself is a perfect place to stay for 2 people. Great kitchenette that allowed us to purchase groceries and have meals in if we didn't want to go out. Location feels very private even though you are on a residential street. And Charlotte is a fantastic host and great resource if you have questions about the island. We hope to return to Kauai and the cozy cottage!

We stayed in early September '17 for our honeymoon. The Cozy Cottage was perfect! It was a great place to rest your head at night while you explore the island during the day. Charlotte was great with accommodating our late flight in and even had some basic food in the fridge for us. It was such an amazing place to stay.

This is a great find, centrally located to you can hit each side of the island in about an hour or less (Hawaii time, short distance but you drive slow). Worth much more than its posted as and if you find yourself on the island make sure to stay here!

When we arrived at the Cozy Cottage Charlotte greeted us with open arms! Charlotte was super kind and provided us with some breakfast items and chocolate to get us through the week. The property is secluded and quiet but centreally located to several restaurants, beaches and shopping. The cottage was super clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I highly recommend Charlottes place when staying in Kauai.

I stayed at the Cozy Cottage during my October 2016 honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect. Charlotte is a great host and the location feels wonderfully secluded.

The Cozy Cottage was the perfect choice for our visit to Kauai. It was spotless and homey. We saved a ton of money by being able to cook in the well appointed kitchen. Charlotte was an informative and gracious host. She was available if we needed her, but gave us our privacy as well. She left us some welcome-to-Hawaii treats in the kitchen which were most appreciated and made our first morning's breakfast much easier as we hadn't had time to get to the grocery store first thing. The cottage's location was perfectly situated for trips to both the north and south of the island, being about in the center of the east coast area. The setting was lovely, being in the jungle -- lots of wildlife to see if you are looking. We had a lovely time and staying at the Cozy Cottage contributed a lot to our enjoyment of the whole trip. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Originally from Germany I was very fortunate to move West halfway around the world, via Cornwall, UK, and Washington, DC to the most beautiful rock in the middle of the Pacific - KAUA'I!
John and I have lived here for the last 21 years and enjoyed the company of many visitors - family, old and new friends, many of them through airbnb: Traveling to and fro this remote island can be challenging; thus having the world come to us has been greatly rewarding!
When not working as a tour guide I enjoy hiking, swimming, reading, gardening, the Great Outdoors at large, volunteering with beach cleaning and selling fresh produce at the Farmers' Market.
I'm a big aficionado of slack key music; also like tango, Fado and French chansons. My favorite foods range from organic greens to spicy curries....and part of my heart and soul will always be in South India!
