Welcome! This listing is for two bedrooms and one shared bathroom. Note: Americas is currently rented long term through November to a male nurse.

Green Roof is dedicated to sustainability, creativity and diversity. We are located in downtown Paducah, with restaurants, galleries and other destinations within walking distance.

The house was built in 1886, a double 4 square. There are three bedrooms and two baths upstairs and a shared living room and dining room downstairs.

The space
The Green Roof International House was purchased as a partnership between two world travelers, Diane who lives in Wisconsin, and myself (who lives in the back of the first floor).

The house was built as a duplex and later converted into a single family home. It was last owned by Inland Marine which gives it a nice connection to the river history of Paducah. We purchased it with the intention of running the Airbnb on the second floor and to develop programming around our core themes for our local community.

There are four bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs. One bedroom has been converted into a laundry room and the other three have international themes: The Americas, Asia and Africa. All rooms are decorated with vintage finds from those areas.

There are two bathrooms upstairs. They have big claw foot tubs that were tiled over in the 1950's. The green bathroom is private to the Asia Room and the pink one is a shared bathroom to The Americas and Africa. We love the authentic elements still true to the house.

The downstairs has a large living room, dining area and front porch. Guests are welcome to use these spaces and enjoy the eclectic feel that we have developed. Plates, glasses and cups are available for guest use, along with a microwave and toaster oven. Guests have limited access to the kitchen.

Security:
There are cameras on the front and back of the house. A City street light lights up the back yard which makes coming in or out at night easy. Park toward the right of the sheds so that your car is in the camera view.

Pets: I have three cats and a German Shepherd in the back area, where I live. They are not allowed in the public areas, but be aware that they do live here. We cannot accept other pets at this time as we are not set up for it.

Children: The house is not suitable for small children at this point.

Perfumes: We avoid scented products for laundry and cleaning.

Recycling: We recycle paper, cardboard, metals, and #1 and #2 plastics. Please put yours in the blue bins outside or give to Rachel. We also compost anything that is biodegradable. Ask Rachel what to do.

Smoking: No smoking of any kind is allowed in the house. Smokers may use the front porch or the yard. Please keep butts in ash trays provided. Marijuana is not legal in Kentucky and prohibited on the premises.

Guns: No guns allowed in the house.

Guest access:
Guests have access to their bedrooms, the living room, dining room, front porch and yard.

Parking:
Guests park in the back and enter through the front. Dolly available, if needed. No elevator up to the second floor, where the rooms are located.

Other things to note:
We may have programs happening in the downstairs area, classes or gatherings.

Checking in:
Check-in is from 3-9PM. Check-out is at noon.

Guest access
This listing is for two bedrooms + one bath, "Africa" and "The Americas". The Americas has a tv, desk and chair. Africa is a bigger room with a dresser and two comfortable overstuffed chairs. Both rooms have plenty of closet space.

The two bedrooms share one bathroom that has a Victorian tub, shower and toilet.

Guests also have access to the laundry room, dining room (with microwave, oven, and toaster), and living room. There is a large porch at the front of the house which is nice on warm days and in the evening. The porch can be very noisy during the day as we are on a busy street.

There is a small refrigerator upstairs and more food can be stored in my kitchen. Water and ice are available from the fridge's door.

During your stay
I live in the house and am almost always around. I do enjoy visiting with people, but work from home and need focus. I have enjoyed meeting my guests and love that many share an international interest! I hope to provide a safe and pleasant experience for any who stay here!

Other things to note
We are open to creative stays with workshops and community projects. Pitch us your idea! We have discounts for long term stays.

Neighborhood highlights

Built in 1886, this lovely Foursquare house was purchased in August 2019 close to Paducah's downtown, just one block from City Hall and walking distance to restaurants and entertainment. The Carson Center is just four blocks away, a 6 minute walk! The Quilt Museum is a 15 minute walk. We are three blocks from the Ohio River and there is a nice walking path there, too. Paducah is flat, so if you have a bike, it's great to ride around!
