The Space

Please see our full description below to learn about our place. If you are interested, please send us a quick message before booking. We try to keep our calendar up to date but occasionally travel gets in the way and puts us a bit behind. We want to be sure we can accommodate you on your desired dates and want your trip planning process to be as easy as possible,

THE ROOM: fully furnished with queen bed (fresh linens, comfy feather topper) and full dresser and closet, plenty of room for your belongings and anything you pick up shopping. Half bathroom is attached and is for your use exclusively. The room is clean and tidy. Towels and travel toiletries come with the room. It IS AIR CONDITIONED and has 2 large windows for plenty of natural light and fresh air.

THE APARTMENT is a big, bright, fully-decorated pre-war 2BR, 1.5 bath with lots of sunlight and features a huge well-appointed kitchen which is available for your use. We keep it clean and organized at all times. Laundry facilities are available in the building basement. FREE RELIABLE WIFI and TV with Netflix and Hulu Plus (through the Nintendo Wii).

Great location 1/2 block from the subway and the Q32 bus - both of which go straight into Manhattan in 15 minutes. The building has 2 elevators so you don't have to worry about lugging your bags upstairs. The BATHROOM - the larger bathroom with a shower is shared with us, your hosts. We are out of the house early, so almost never have a line for the shower.

HOSTS: You would share the apartment with a warm and welcoming couple in our twenties. We have lived in New York for several years and are happy to provide "local" restaurant and nightlife recommendations and suggestions for undiscovered activities. We both leave early in the morning and come back in the evening, so you will usually have the apartment to yourself all day. We're looking forward to hosting you and hope to help make your trip to NYC very (website hidden) - there will be coffee waiting for you in the morning when you wake up!

NEIGHBORHOOD: Sunnyside is a diverse and very safe neighborhood less than 15 minutes from Grand Central Terminal on the 7 train (or 10 min by cab). New York Magazine ranked it 3rd most livable neighborhood in NYC. It's very close to Manhattan - I literally jog to and from midtown and Central Park several times a week. We are near several excellent ethnic restaurants (Mexican, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Peruvian, Turkish, Romanian, and more) and fun pubs as well as several grocery stores and pharmacies. LGA airport is 15 minutes by cab and JFK airport is 25 minutes.

International travelers welcome, LGBT friendly.

Cheers!
Alex

  • Our stay with Laila and Alex was just perfect! They were the most attentive and lovely hosts, and the sweetest people. After a long red-eye flight from Los Angeles, they had snacks ready for us for an early morning check-in (of which they were very accommodating). The room was very spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, and the AC essential for a June visit in New York. Their complex also has an elevator!! A major plus for New York. Not to mention the location: only a few steps from the 7 train which is a quick ride into Manhattan, but I recommend also exploring Sunnyside. Wonderful area! They were also very responsive throughout our entire visit, and were so gracious in accommodating our late check-out. This is our second time using AirBnB and this was by far the BEST experience. We hope to stay again during our next trip!

  • it was the second time I stayed at Lailas and Alex home and as the last time, everything was perfect again. both were so warmhearted, helped us to call the airline because of our lost luggages and gave us several tipps how to make the trip special. moreover, the apartment was clean and we felt very well.
it's the perfect place to stay at on a NYC trip!!! hope to cone back a third time!! :)

  • We could not have asked for a better experience staying in Alex and Laila's home. Our trip began with the airline canceling our flight into NYC, so instead of arriving at 2pm we arrived around 2 am. Laila greeted us at the door warmly and was so very understanding and gracious. Their place is beautiful and cosy, in a charming old building, and our room faced a courtyard, so evenings were quiet and peaceful in their comfy guest bed. The opportunities we got to chat with Alex and Laila were lovely--their personalities are so naturally welcoming, we felt like we were staying with friends as soon as we arrived. And they really thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable, from a place in the fridge with our own stash of snacks, to wine and beer, to chocolates and granola in our room and a list of truly amazing restaurants within a five minute walk from their place. We very much hope we get to stay with Alex and Laila again soon!

  • It's been a pleasure being with them. I stayed at theirs for the second time now and I totally recommend them. The room is clean, there's is enough space for your belongings and you have your privacy all the time. They provide towels which is really nice. When we arrived we even found some treats in the fridge :)
If you have any questions they are always happy to help.
    Thumbs up!

  • This apartment is the second place I lived in NY during a 2-week visit.I will choose to live here again when I come back to NY in the future. The location is great, only 3 mins walk from subway station. The neighborhood is safe and foreigners friendly . It's also convenient to get around for grocery shopping. Last but not the least, Alex and Laila are very friendly and nice. We enjoy our staying there, very appreciate that the rooms are clean and neat. This is my first time booking a room through airbnb and I am very lucky that I found one that says exactly the same as what I've read on website.

  • A fabulous first-time air bnb experience staying in New York. Alex and Laila were warm, hospitable and helpful with suggestions about what to see and do in the area. The location is perfect - a super short train ride into central NY & great supermarket nearby. A gorgeous, quiet and safe neighborhood. Thank you so much Alex and Laila for making my stay in NY amazing & for the added touches like the fresh strawberries breakfast. Have recommended you to all my fellow Kiwis, Emma.

  • This was a wonderful AirBnB experience! Alex and Laila were brilliant hosts - very friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean with a comfy bed. The private toilet was a great bonus! It was so easy to get into central Manhattan, with the subway at the end of the road. We would definitely stay here if we ever find ourselves in New York again. Also, Alex and Laila recommended a fantastic Thai restaurant so do take them up on their restaurant recommendations!
