The Space

Please see our full description below to learn about our place. If you are interested, please send us a quick message before booking. We try to keep our calendar up to date but occasionally travel gets in the way and puts us a bit behind. We want to be sure we can accommodate you on your desired dates and want your trip planning process to be as easy as possible,

THE ROOM: fully furnished with queen bed (fresh linens, comfy feather topper) and full dresser and closet, plenty of room for your belongings and anything you pick up shopping. Half bathroom is attached and is for your use exclusively. The room is clean and tidy. Towels and travel toiletries come with the room. It IS AIR CONDITIONED and has 2 large windows for plenty of natural light and fresh air.

THE APARTMENT is a big, bright, fully-decorated pre-war 2BR, 1.5 bath with lots of sunlight and features a huge well-appointed kitchen which is available for your use. We keep it clean and organized at all times. Laundry facilities are available in the building basement. FREE RELIABLE WIFI and TV with Netflix and Hulu Plus (through the Nintendo Wii).

Great location 1/2 block from the subway and the Q32 bus - both of which go straight into Manhattan in 15 minutes. The building has 2 elevators so you don't have to worry about lugging your bags upstairs. The BATHROOM - the larger bathroom with a shower is shared with us, your hosts. We are out of the house early, so almost never have a line for the shower.

HOSTS: You would share the apartment with a warm and welcoming couple in our twenties. We have lived in New York for several years and are happy to provide "local" restaurant and nightlife recommendations and suggestions for undiscovered activities. We both leave early in the morning and come back in the evening, so you will usually have the apartment to yourself all day. We're looking forward to hosting you and hope to help make your trip to NYC very (website hidden) - there will be coffee waiting for you in the morning when you wake up!

NEIGHBORHOOD: Sunnyside is a diverse and very safe neighborhood less than 15 minutes from Grand Central Terminal on the 7 train (or 10 min by cab). New York Magazine ranked it 3rd most livable neighborhood in NYC. It's very close to Manhattan - I literally jog to and from midtown and Central Park several times a week. We are near several excellent ethnic restaurants (Mexican, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Peruvian, Turkish, Romanian, and more) and fun pubs as well as several grocery stores and pharmacies. LGA airport is 15 minutes by cab and JFK airport is 25 minutes.

International travelers welcome, LGBT friendly.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • For my first Air BnB experience I feel very lucky. I really enjoyed my stay there where everything was perfect. Laila and Alex are very kind and available. The room was big with a king size bed (very confortable), plenty of spaces and a private toilets. The flat is really nice with a spacious kitchen and a luminous living room. Location is ideal and very safe. All in all, a very good deal (you won't get the same quality standard in many hotels) with very kind hosts. Go for it!!!

  • I had a wonderful, comfortable stay at Alex and Laila's in Queens. Their place is large, comfortable, and the room is exactly as it appears in the pictures. The half bathroom in the room is really convenient and they go above and beyond to provide things that make your stay pleasant: snacks, info to local places to see/eat, and just overall hospitality! The location is superb as well as it is half a block (2 minute walk) to the subway station and there's a Starbucks around the corner as well as a market and places to eat. Highly recommend!

  • The house is in a super convenient place where about 2 mins walk to the subway station. The room is clean, big and comfortable. Alex and Laila are very nice and thoughtful. They prepare all things I need in the room, not only towels and maps but also snacks and water. I do like the soft big bed! After a day visiting, I can have great sleep on that bed. Recommended!

  • Though it was a last minute request Alex and Laila organised our check-in the best possible way. The room was neat, shiny and well decorated. Travel toiletries and some snacks were ready for us on the table. The bed was the most comfortable I'd ever slept on.

The flat turned out to be a trap for us:) We enjoyed staying there so much than we literally couldn't go out. But book shelves in the living room and good heating were worth it.

Unfortunately we haven't had chance to know Alex and Laila more as they were busy at work but they seemed to be good folks and very welcoming hosts.

It has been the best Airbnb experience for us! We look forward to staying there again and again and again!

  • My stay in Sunnyside with Alex and Laila was great! They were really nice, generous and helpful in everything. The room was really beautifully decorated and comfy. We got our own towels, snacks, some alcoholic beverages in the fridge and little package with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc.

The area, Sunnyside was nice and safe and there were a lot of little restaurants and shops around. Location is excellent because the apartement is five minutes walk away from subway station (train 7) and it takes you to Times Square in 20 minutes. It's also very easy to get to the JFK airport by subway from there. You only have to transfer once and then take the airtrain. This all takes about 45 minutes - 1 hour.

It was always nice to come back at the end of the day from all that Manhattan hassle to a peaceful Queens. I highly recommend staying with Alex and Laila in Sunnyside.

  • We had a nice time in this room! Good interior design! And I love the big and soft bad!

    December 2013
  • An all-round perfect stay and highly recommended. Laila and Alex are amazing hosts, and I was so grateful for their wonderful warmth and hospitality. I loved the little touches, from beautiful fluffy towels to hotel-style soaps and chocolates in the room. It is a lovely quiet apartment, with a super-comfortable big bed and private en-suite bathroom. They kindly had a plate of yummy things for me when I arrived late at night, and made me feel comfortable immediately. The apartment is gorgeous, and it is about a 30-second walk from the subway (7 train), which was VERY convenient and very safe (even late at night). I was concerned about staying in Queens instead of Manhattan, but I would stay with Laila and Alex again in a heartbeat!

  • We had a wonderful time at Lailas and Alex´s place! They are really sweet people, warm hearted and totally endeavor! We were welcomed with little presents and toiletries and felt comfortable from the very first moment. The room is absloutely clean and I loved the bed so huge and cozy!!! Furthemore we got everything we needed. The location was great as well, not even a minute to the subway station, still you didnt hear anything! there is a 24/7 supermarket straight at the corner. everything was perfect! I can definitely fully recommend!

  • This was my first airbnb experience and has most likely spoiled me for all others. Laila and Alex were perfect hosts. They are well deserving of all the positive comments that led me to choose their place. The location was very convenient. The communication and amenities were outstanding. Highly recommended!
