I have a beautiful ground floor, homely 3 bedroom apartment with a double bedroom, available for you to stay in during your visit to Edinburgh!
During your stay you will have access to the rest of the flat. I have a fully fitted kitchen which is equipped with all mod cons. You are welcome to cook meals, or with me if I happen to be home and cooking! Also you are welcome to help yourself to anything is the cupboards...just, please don't eat everything! Your are also free to use the living room with a television and free view during your stay. Please note that I have a pet rabbit who lives in my living room. The rabbit won't ever be in your room, but if you have allergies please keep this in mind. I have internet which you are free to use during your stay to check emails, and look up Edinburgh's tourist attractions! There is also on street parking available.
While you are in Edinburgh I can give you advice on the best places to go and things to do. The area has great amenities and an excellent bus service which will have you in the West End in just 15 minutes. Edinburgh is packed with great shopping, tasty restaurants, and historical sights, including Princes Street, the Royal Mile and of course Edinburgh Castle. You will never be stuck for anything to do!
I am a friendly host who will do all in my power to ensure you have a relaxing, fun and memorable stay!
The stair door is often open and the buzzer entry does not work. Please either phone me, or knock on the living room window if the door for some reason is closed. In the near future I will be installing a security box with the key which I will inform you of the code nearer the time of your stay. message.
Interaction with Guests
I may not always be around when you arrive but if you let me know your intended arrival time then I will let you know the arrangements for your arrival.
Please smoke only in the kitchen and leave your shoes at the front door. Also no eating or drinking in the bedrooms.
The room was big and comfortable and the house was clean. It's outside the city, but VERY easy to reach by public transport. The apartment is run more like a self service guest house. All directions were written on the walls. This was fine for us but it did feel a little impersonal as we never actually met Anne. Still a good value though!
Anne is a lovely host!
Even though she isn't currently living in the apartment, she pops in every now and then and quickly answers messages (Airbnb, SMS) when we need her help. Since the moment me and my boyfriend arrived at her house, we felt very welcome and cared for. Everything is super clean, the living room is cozy and full of entertainment options for rainy or very, very cold days.
We had a great timein Edinburgh when we stayed at her apartment and would definitely contact her if we ever need to go to town again.
Me and my husband visited Edinburgh to join Hogmanay. This was my first time trying airbnb, and it turned out to be a pleasant debut because it was Anne's flat :)
The rooms were cozy, clean and relaxing. Anne was so kind and all the given directions were helpful. Bus stop is near, and you can walk to some places to eat out or get food.
And was a very welcoming hostess. Directions to the 'Pilton Hilton' we're clear and concise. Warm house, comfortable bed and clean linen - what more do you need when visiting Edinburgh?
Anne did not stay in this accommodation. However, she was very contactable and was able to guide us from the bus stop to the door via phone call. The door was opened by other guests in the apartment on check-in night. On the second night, I opened the door for other guests who apparently did not receive the main backdoor key.
The double room (as shown in the first picture in this listing) my partner and I stayed in was one of the three available rooms to stay in. It was very clean and the decorations were lovely. There was a shared toilet, kitchen and a living room. The toilet and the shower was together, so there were occasional queues for the toilet. The toilet flushing system refills very slowly: after the initial automatic flushing, the toilet could only be flushed manually by using the small bucket that was being provided.
Edinburgh was cold, but the heating was very sufficient in the room. The location means spending at least £3 a day on 2 bus tickets in minimum to get to the city centre and back at night. However, the time taken is at most 20 minutes and the benefits should more than outweigh living right in the city centre.
Kitchen facilities were provided. Tea and coffee were available. Lovely atmosphere overall. The nearest bus stop is 'Muirhouse Shopping Centre'.
Highly recommended. Do contact host to clarify location and key arrangements in advance.
We were originally booked to stay here for 3 nights. The apartment was very difficult to find and in trying to find it we were told by several different people that we need to be careful as it is not a good area. We proceeded to check in and Anne was very nice and very welcoming, however, the building and surrounding area didn't feel safe and we were uncomfortable, especially at the thought of returning in the dark (which we ended up having to do). We came to get our stuff and it was a little unnerving at night and we ended up leaving and reserving accommodations somewhere more safe and comfortable.

I am a fun loving individual and enjoy having guests stay in my humble home. I live less than 30 minutes from the city centre in North Edinburgh, close to the Firth of Forth. There is an excellent bus service with many choices of bus routes and I live close to local shops and takeaways.
The best way to my home from the airport is either the 100 airport bus to the Westend then the 37 to Muirhouse Shopping Centre or a taxi. Lothian Buses has a fantastic website so you can check timetables at your leisure. A single trip ticket is £1.50 and a day saver is £3.50 on the local buses, the airport bus fare is slightly more. A taxi to my home from the airport, or the city centre, is between £12-£18. Travel Easy - (phone number hidden) is the cheapest but there is also Capital Cabs - (phone number hidden).
I have wifi which you can access with a code which you will find in the kitchen. I am happy for you to use my internet, to check out information and confirm travel details and check out attractions, but please do not use it for inappropriate sites.
I must highlight that I do not always stay in the flat due to the popularity of my property on airbnb and the fact that I have guests staying in all three rooms at times. If I am not able to be at home to open the door in person then I do have a key code box which is changed frequently. Please just contact me prior to arrival and I can let you know what the code is. I will try and be there in person though but this is not always possible and rather than have you waiting around in town I am sure you would like to just settle in and get comfortable. Once you have let yourself in please put the keys back in the key code box. You will find your own keys in the door of your room which are yours for the duration of your stay. You will have 3 keys, 1 for the stair door, 1 for the front door and 1 for your bedroom. Please have consideration of others in the block by ensuring the doors are locked. The stair door this will happen automatically as with the bedroom door (be careful not to lock yourself out your room). The front door you need to lift the handle up high before turning the key to lock the door. Closing the door is not enough!!! Please check before leaving you have not left the door unlocked by testing if the handle goes down. If locked correctly the handle will not allow you to lower and open the door.
I am happy that people use the facilities in my home to cook and you are welcome to help yourself to food, etc but request that you clean up after yourselves and do not take advantage of my generosity by taking food away with you. With regards to washing clothes, I am happy to do this for you to prevent over or under filling the machine, please just ask and I will assist you.
The toilet is a slow fill so if it is in frequent use it does not always flush instantly. This is easily resolved by filling up the cistern with a bottle of water from the bathroom taps. This can occur at times as there is only one toiket/bathroom for a flat with three rooms.
You are welcome to stay in a home which is "modest and honest" I love having guests around and as a hardened traveller myself try to provide the environment I loved when I was in a strange place for the first time. You can be assured of receiving a warm welcome at some point from me. I offer you the use of my home and the room you book while you are in Edinburgh which is different from the experience you will have in a fully serviced B&B or guest house.
I hope that you have a great time in Edinburgh and if you choose to stay with me then I look forward to sharing your travel adventure and getting to know you.
