  • My experience at Alison's was unbelievable - a true whirlwind of an adventure! Alison's home is truly special. With an impeccable view, you will never get bored with it, no matter the weather forecast. The room was perfect. Beautifully cozy and inviting! I absolutely fell in love.

Tucked away on Cowal, but still close enough to Glasgow, the area of Kilmun is very friendly for wanderers like me who just love walking about and exploring. Alison was extremely generous, amicable, humorous and passionate about showing her town. She asked a friend to lend a bike and I was able to freely cycle through the grand majestic plains of the surrounding area with no fear at all and I was able to really soak in the spirit of Scotland. She also gave me a ride to a neighbouring isle (one of many) and if I had more time, I would definitely have visited them all because it seems each has its own unique charm.

Alison truly is a wonderful host and she definitely made this experience one to remember for a very long time. I highly recommend her!

  • Alison's house was lovely and very quaint. It had a beautiful view over the Loch and clean, comfortable amenities. We did not get the chance to meet Alison as she was away, however she was very communicative and helpful in making sure we found to location and were comfortable during our stay. Would definitely stay here again

  • Just perfect: Nice host, wonderful flat (just my taste :-)) and the most gorgeous, quiet location at the Holy Loch. Easily accessible from Glasgow by ferry and with a great restaurant next door. Although I came from the North which was a bit complicated, but a trip with wonderful views of the Highlands.
Definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time, I would have preferred to stay one day longer to explore the area and maybe chat with Alison who's a very kind, intelligent woman, I felt very welcome there.

  • Alison's place and the setting in Kilmun were absolutely incredible: next to a loch with a view of the mountains, and next door to a beautiful arboretum and botanical garden. Alison was a lovely host and had excellent recommendations for daytrips. She also went out of her way to be welcoming, show me some of the town, and share anything in her kitchen. Her adorable and snuggly dog Basil was an unexpected but happy bonus! This place will make your stay in Scotland!

Thank you Jocelyn. I really enjoyed your stay and our conversations (between your eleven hour sleeps). Basil misses you! Hope you had a good journey home. See you in Brooklyn some time soon X

  • Situated in a quaint house right across the street from Holy Loch . Beds were clean and comfortable. Owner was very accommodating in order to meet our needs. We traveled from Edinburgh in order to get here and public transportation was very convenient including a picturesque ferry ride. The Pier restaurant is just a few minutes from the front door and a bus takes you into town with many interesting shops and a broad range of restaurants and shops. Historic structures and scenic botanical gardens are on the same short bus ride away and the bus comes almost to the front door.

  • I had a terrific time at Alison's place. She is a great host and you will feel right at home. I also had the unique opportunity to go sailing with some friends of Alison's which was one of the highlights of my stay in Scotland.

  • Alison is a wonderful host, she makes you feel like home from the beginning. Food was one of our top priorities for this trip and Alison certainly helped with great restaurant recommendations, let us try her wonderful home made bread and cake, also made her kitchen available for our use! Home is beautifully decorated with stunning views from the rooms, the living room has a log fire to keep you warm and cosy after the sunset. What more could you ask for?

  • The stay was perfect. Really hard to think of a friendlier person than Alison!! She was so nice, fetched us at the peer and brought us back with her cute blue VW bulli, showed us where to go and even brought us wood so we can use the wood burning stove. A stonedrop away you have the peer restaurant which cooks nice food.
An amazing Airbnb experience. Thanks Alison for the nice time and see you soon!

  • We had a wonderful stay in Alisons lovely house.

Alison was a super host, warm and friendly, flexible and gave us some great tips to the area.
The room has the most wonderful view over water and mountain. Plenty of space and comfy beds.

Would love to come back and stay for longer.

About
The apartment is restive, calm and relaxed. views over the water are always beautiful, no matter how the weather may change. If you are tired of looking at the water, the house is well stocked with books and there are lots of good places to eat, places to be experienced. I am a traveling chef, this is my home base. I prefer to focus on local, fresh ingredients and am very interested in healthy, seasonal and wild foods. I specialise in cooking for vegetarian and restricted diets. Sometimes I'm home and can offer b&B, otherwise I offer the flat on a self catering basis. If i am working away from home, my friends Steven and Matthew will act as host and help you with local information. Please note: The apartment is listed as b&b (one room for 2 people - double and 1 single bed) and as self catering holiday let (entire apartment for 4 people - two bedrooms). Please make sure you check the correct listing and please contact me if you have any questions or specific requests. Thank you Alison
