Enjoy a private room with a comfy double bed, papasan and ottoman and ample closet space.
The apartment has 9' ceilings, stainless steel appliances, lots of natural light and leather couches.
The kitchen is well-equipped. You'll find nonstick pots and pans, chef's, paring and bread knives, a toaster, blender, mixer, gas stove and dishwasher.
Not pictured (but since added) are blackout blinds, ensuring you get a good night's sleep, long after the sun has risen for the day and a window air conditioner to keep you cool on hot summer nights.
There's a terrific library, and you can read through (but not check out) everything from Tom Clancy novels to George Lakoff on language, Michael Pollan on food and Robin Williams on design.
You have a large (11x13), bright room to yourself.
You'll share the kitchen, living room and bathroom with a thirtysomething technologist and a friendly blue heeler (who naps most of the time).
Interaction with Guests
I'm happy to recommend restaurants, provide directions and chat as you unwind at the end of your day. If our schedules overlap, you're welcome to join me on a neighbourhood tour as we take my dog for a walk.
Boerum Hill is a terrific mix of long-time shops and modern restaurants. Whether you crave Thai, soul food or pizza and burgers, you'll find it here.
During the summer, enjoy time on the patio of one of a dozen great coffee shops or bars.
Wander over to Brooklyn Bridge Park for terrific views of the Manhattan skyline, a game of beach volleyball or some tasty ice cream.
We are an easy walk from the Atlantic Terminal, where you can check out the Target, rent a tux or hop on the Long Island Railroad.
You have terrific access to transit—I'm three minutes from the F and G trains, and seven minutes from the A, C, F, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. Cabs can be hailed on Smith, and car services typically arrive in five minutes or fewer.
Once on the subway, it's 10 minutes to lower Manhattan, and 30 minutes to midtown. It's also an easy bike ride over the Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridges.
Other Things to Note
This unit is not wheelchair accessible — I'm on the fourth floor (three flights of stairs).
No smoking (of any kind). No drugs. No bringing people home.
Lovely stay in NYC with a base at Paul's apartment. Subway was close by so it was easy to get to Manhattan and the surrounding area in Brooklyn had lots to offer. The apartment was clean and cosy, bed was comfy and Paul was a kind and welcoming host. He have us all the info we needed and made us feel at home. Thank you Paul!
Pauls friend let me in the Apartment, so I didn't have to wait for checking in which was really nice. She gave me some Information about the apartment so we got along pretty well. Paul was out for the weekend but he was really responsible and answered immediately.
The apartment was cozy, clean and pretty.
You can reach Manhattan really easy with the Subway (F) and we did not have any Problems arriving at our destinations.
We really liked our stay in Pauls Apartment!
Paul was at work when we arrived and he arranged for a nice friend to meet me and give us keys. The room is exactly as pictured. The neighborhood is good and there is a lot of remodeling on the street and in the building so it will be even nicer soon. the location is excellent, close to an F subway stop and to good shopping. We had no problems at all.
Paul was an awesome host which he proved by giving us all the important instructions related to his apartment in a small booklet, by constantly giving us advice to go to right places in newyork and helping us acquire information about the subway stations most of the time. He even showed no problem when i asked him to allow us to check out his apartment few hours after the actual booking terminated.
Great neighborhood. Host location was as represented except looks more spacious in photo than in person.
I like bicycle commuting, good design, crossword puzzles, playing hockey and baking chocolate cakes.
I don’t have a land line, wear a watch or drink coffee.
When I'm visting somewhere new, I go where the locals (pubs, parks, poutineries) go and avoid shiny tourist destinations. New Zealand is amazing. British Columbia is also pretty damned beautiful.
