Spacious room in cozy Boerum Hill

Apartment - Private room · Pacific St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, United States

The Space

Enjoy a private room with a comfy double bed, papasan and ottoman and ample closet space.

The gut-renovated apartment has 9' ceilings, stainless steel appliances, lots of natural light and leather couches.

The kitchen is well-equipped. You'll find nonstick pots and pans, chef's, paring and bread knives, a toaster, blender, gas stove and dishwasher.

Not pictured (but since added) are blackout blinds, ensuring you get a good night's sleep, long after the sun has risen for the day and a window air conditioner to keep you cool on hot summer nights.

There's a terrific library, and you can read through (but not check out) everything from Tom Clancy novels to George Lakoff on language, Michael Pollan on food and Michael Lewis on finance.

Guest Access

You have a large (11x13), bright room to yourself.

You'll share the kitchen, living room and bathroom with a thirtysomething nonprofit technologist and a friendly blue heeler (who naps most of the time).

Interaction with Guests

I'm happy to recommend restaurants, provide directions and chat as you unwind at the end of your day. If our schedules overlap, you're welcome to join me on a neighbourhood tour as we take my dog for a walk.

The Neighborhood

Boerum Hill is a terrific mix of long-time shops and modern restaurants. Whether you crave Thai, soul food or pizza and burgers, you'll find it here.

During the summer, enjoy time on the patio of one of a dozen great coffee shops or bars.

Wander over to Brooklyn Bridge park for terrific views of the Manhattan skyline, a game of beach volleyball or some tasty ice cream.

We are an easy walk from the Atlantic Terminal, where you can check out the Target, rent a tux or hop on the Long Island Railroad.

Getting around

You have terrific access to transit—I'm three minutes from the F and G trains, and seven minutes from the A, C, F, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 trains. Cabs can be hailed on Smith, and car services typically arrive in five minutes or fewer.

Once on the subway, it's 10 minutes to lower Manhattan, and 30 minutes to midtown. It's also an easy bike ride over the Brooklyn or Manhattan Bridges.

Other Things to Note

Accessibility: This unit is not wheelchair accessible — it's a walkup. I'm on the fourth floor (three flights of stairs).

  • Paul is very sweet and friendly. He is attentive when you ask for information. I stayed for a whole month and felt at home. The location is pretty great. Central to all the sites and neighborhoods of Brooklyn, and easy distance to Downtown Manhanttan (G, F, A, C, E lines). Boerum Hill is a great neighborhood with lovely restaurants (Clover Club, Frankie Sputinos, Rucola).

He does have a dog, so if you are not comfortable with big dogs and all the associated things (fur, occasional barking) then this isn't the place for you. Nigel (the dog) is very sweet though and I will miss him.

  • Paul a été très accueillant et très gentil, il nous a donné quelques turcs et astuces pour visiter la ville.
Très bonne accueil et chien très gentil.

  • Paul is hospitable and kind. We had no problem finding his place, and he was ready to let us in as soon as we got there. His dog Nigel is super fun and easy going. Paul went out of his way to set up an air mattress for me and had extra sheets for it ready to go. The location was great; this area of Brooklyn is super hip and very easy to navigate. Easy access to Manhattan from the Bergen or the Jay Street MetroTech stations. The food around the area was awesome and affordable. The house was super warm and cozy. We were given anything we needed to cook and do our own thing. Paul was respectful of our space and was gracious to share his with us. Overall an awesome stay!

  • Paul was an excellent host. We really enjoyed staying with him and his dog, Nigel. The apartment was neat and clean. It’s in a great location very convenient to transportation, restaurants, and shopping. We would definitely stay again!

  • Paul is one of the best hosts ever !! I picked up the keys to his apartment from his office. Once in the room - it was exactly like the way its shown. Maybe even cleaner !! Nigel, the dog is the sweetest soul. Went out with Paul and Nigel for a walk in the hood.
Paul had to leave for a conference midway but he did make me a quick lesser-known-places-to-visit in the area list !! Superb.
    The bathroom was pristine !
The biggest advantage is the 3 subway stations just around the corner and access to almost each and every train.
Brilliant neighbourhood with lots to eat and drink. From local businesses to the usual dunkins and chipotles.

Two thumbs up !! Will surely stay here again !!

P.s. an addition from the picture above are curtains on the windows.

  • The apartment is big, the room is very comfortable and the location is one of the best in Brooklyn. The neighborhood has a lot of nice restaurants and cafes. Manhattan is easily accessible via subway. Paul is a very good host and is always responsive. If you are a dog lover, Nigel adds an extra charm to the stay!

  • Paul was a wonderful host and extremely helpful. Jointly walking his dog Nigel, he showed me around the neighborhood and pointed out placed for food and things to do. He even accompanied me to battery park to arrange a bicycle rental!
The apartment is in an awesome location and it was easy to feel safe and to recharge for the next day crammed with NYC tourism.

  • Paul has a very nice place located in a great part of Brooklyn. Nice shops, restaurants and coffee shops just around the corner, close to various subway stations. If you don't mind being around an old dog, it's a reccomendation!

  • Apartment was clean and the dog was friendly. I forgot about or didn't realize it was a 4 story walk up. OK for us, but struggled a bit with luggage. Coffee and hooks to hang your towel would be appreciated.

About
I like bicycle commuting, good design, crossword puzzles, playing hockey and baking chocolate cakes. I don’t have a land line, wear a watch or drink coffee. When I'm visting somewhere new, I go where the locals (pubs, parks, poutineries) go and avoid shiny tourist destinations. New Zealand is amazing. British Columbia is also pretty damned beautiful.
