Located just 8 minutes north of the Mackinac Bridge, our older home has its quirks but offers charm, cozy furnishings, stylish décor, and a fully stocked kitchen. Enjoy a spacious yard for relaxing or gathering, and take advantage of being less than 10 minutes from the Mackinac Island ferry docks. A perfect base to explore St. Ignace, the Straits area, and unforgettable Mackinac Island.

The space
Welcome to your cozy Up North getaway, just 8 minutes north of the Mackinac Bridge! This charming older home is full of personality, history, and nostalgic character. Originally recognized as “The Chicken Coop” in downtown St. Ignace, this unique 60+ year old home has since been relocated and thoughtfully furnished with comfortable seating, attractive décor, and all the essentials for a relaxing stay.

The fully stocked kitchen makes dining in easy, while the spacious yard offers room to unwind outdoors after a day of exploring Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Conveniently located within 10 minutes of the Mackinac Island ferry docks, you’ll be perfectly positioned to explore Mackinac Island, St. Ignace, Mackinaw City, the Straits area, local trails, beaches, restaurants, and nearby attractions.

Please note this is an older home with some natural quirks and imperfections that come with its age, but we believe that is part of the charm and cozy Up North experience.

Whether you’re here for adventure, sightseeing, snowmobiling, ferry trips, or simply relaxing, Huyck’s Hideaway offers a comfortable and memorable home base for your travels.

Guests will have access to the home, spacious yard, and outdoor fire pit area during their stay.

The property is conveniently located about 10 minutes from the Mackinac Island ferry docks, making it easy to explore St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City, and surrounding attractions.

Guests are also welcome to enter the garage if needed to access extra firewood, grilling tools, and miscellaneous outdoor supplies stored inside. However, the garage is not intended for vehicle parking at this time.

Please note there are a couple locked owner closets/storage areas within the property that are not accessible to guests.

• Please note this property is not directly on the water. We are located near the bridge viewing station (about 4 minutes away) and just a short drive from downtown St. Ignace while still offering a little more space and privacy outside of the busiest areas.

• We are conveniently located near the Curio Fair and Budweiser plant area, before the Mystery Spot.

• Sleeping arrangements include:

* Master bedroom with a king-size bed
* Second bedroom with a queen-size bed
* Third bedroom with two twin beds

• Please note that the third bedroom is accessed by walking through the second bedroom. There is a separating door between the two spaces, but it is not a fully private hallway-style bedroom layout.

• This is an older home with some natural quirks and imperfections that come with age, but we continue improving and updating the property as often as possible.

• Pricing in the St. Ignace and Mackinaw area can fluctuate heavily during tourism season. While we always strive to offer a great value compared to many local lodging options, please note that Airbnb service fees and taxes are set separately by Airbnb and are outside of our control.

Neighborhood highlights

For the most part you have privacy, especially in the fire pit area. There are neighbors closer to that area but their garage and trees block them off. We are close to many attractions in St.Ignace and have a family dollar, dollar general, and family fare grocery store less than ten minutes away from the house :)
