Come stay in our attic in our cute little bungalow built in 1917. We have done a lot of work to fix up the place, but will we ever be done? The attic has a twin bed and a full size futon. It is a private room with plenty of light and space. A door closes off the rest of our house, so it is quiet.
There is not a private entrance and the bathroom is shared. Feel free to share our kitchen, we have a juicer, food processor, and a microwave available. We'll have coffee and tea available as well.
This is a home full of life, we have 2 little girls, 2 dogs and 2 cats, plus 4 chickens. So we can sometimes be very busy.
We live across the street from Trader Joe's, near Reed College and Woodstock neighborhood. There is also a Starbucks and a Walgreens just 1 block away. Easy access to downtown by bus. A 5-10 min bus ride can take you to Hawthorne or Division St. shopping areas.
Our neighborhood is great for walking, close to Kenilworth, Creston and Woodstock parks and the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.
You will use our front door to enter and walk through the house to the upstairs. Our bathroom is on the main floor and available to you anytime. The kitchen is available for you as well, please let us know if you plan to use it and we can accommodate you.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat with our guests and learn a bit about you. If you'd like to keep to yourself that's fine too. Thought, sometimes we get busy and don't have time to talk as much as we'd like to.
Please no smoking. Though we love pets we aren't sure about hosting other animals but we aren't closed to the idea either. We also ask that you are quiet at night, and no additional guests without our consent.
I was there for just under a week and had to go the city centre everyday, so the location is perfect as there is regular bus service to the city centre. The room itself was great, plenty of space, its private and comfortable. Harmony was very friendly and helped me out with information about the city, public transport and about what to do and where to go in town. She was also happy for me to use the kitchen although I didn't need to. Overall I enjoyed it and I recommend staying here.
Great location and quiet neighborhood! We enjoyed our trip in Portland thanks to the host!
This was a wonderful place to stay for several nights in Portland. Very cozy and convenient to the amenities of SE neighborhoods. I was off on my own missions, mostly, so not much looking for or needing support or direction; but Harmony and Joe were certainly there to the extent necessary, and we had a nice conversation my first night. They provide a key for access at any time, and the house, including their two nice dogs (and two nice kids) was welcoming. I think this is a great alternative to the hostel or B&B scene.
Harmony was great - her home is very comfy and the room was private, cozy and well furnished. Would book again!
I stayed at Harmony's home for one night with some of my friends and it worked out great. She was very helpful and flexible with choosing a time to check-in, her family was very nice, and the space was exactly what we expected and wanted. We were out and about in Portland most of the time so we only chatted with Harmony and her family a little bit here and there, but even so we felt very comfortable in the space. This was my first airbnb experience and it has definitely made all of us want to do it again in the future! If you're in Portland I recommend this place!
Very friendly family, and accommodating! We spent most of the day exploring, but felt very comfortable coming in and out at any time.
Harmony greeted us warmly at the door. The room was truly "bright and cozy". We were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The neighborhood was great with easy access to TJs, restaurants and routes to all areas of Portland.
I am a mom of two sweet energetic girls, now 9 and 6. I love cooking, shopping local, and having dance parties with my girls. I like to ride my bike and build my community. I am a graphic designer, my husband, Joe is an artist (oil painting). He also does some awesome carpentry and building. We have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 4 chickens, though they don't usually travel with us ;).
We love hosting and meeting new people, we're pretty laid back, but at times our family life gets busy.
We're just getting used to traveling as a family, we normally drive and stop a million times before we reach our destination.
