Bright, Cozy Attic in SE Portland

House - Private room · SE Schiller St, Portland, OR 97202, United States

The Space

Come stay in our attic in our cute little bungalow built in 1917. We have done a lot of work to fix up the place, but will we ever be done? The attic has a twin bed and a full size futon. It is a private room with plenty of light and space. A door closes off the rest of our house, so it is quiet.

There is not a private entrance and the bathroom is shared. Feel free to share our kitchen, we have a juicer, food processor, and a microwave available. We'll have coffee and tea available as well.

This is a home full of life, we have 2 little girls, 2 dogs and 2 cats, plus 4 chickens. So we can sometimes be very busy.

We live across the street from Trader Joe's, near Reed College and Woodstock neighborhood. There is also a Starbucks and a Walgreens just 1 block away. Easy access to downtown by bus. A 5-10 min bus ride can take you to Hawthorne or Division St. shopping areas.

Our neighborhood is great for walking, close to Kenilworth, Creston and Woodstock parks and the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.

Guest Access

You will use our front door to enter and walk through the house to the upstairs. Our bathroom is on the main floor and available to you anytime. The kitchen is available for you as well, please let us know if you plan to use it and we can accommodate you.

  • We enjoyed our two-night stay with Harmony. The neighborhood was relatively quiet but still convenient enough. The house was quite charming and we enjoyed meeting her family (and pets!)

  • Super nice granola family (and I mean that in the nicest way). Great price, and Harmony had great suggestions for food, drinks, and general getting around. I'd love to go back next time I'm in town and would highly recommend this place!

  • Harmony was really flexible and friendly, and the room was exactly what I expected. Super comfortable and clean! The adorable pets didn't hurt either :)

  • My daughter and I came to Portland for a 2-day pilgrimage to Powell's Books. Harmony and her family were great hosts. The dogs barked a little at first, but are just as friendly as can be. The room is just as advertised...an attic room with lovely western exposure and very quiet. I slept on the futon; it's a firm mattress, but very comfortable. The location was perfect for us with easy access to downtown (one day by car, and one day by bus.) We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and found a delicious Portuguese restaurant for dinner about 10 (?) blocks away. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Second time staying here. Wonderful hosts and great space. Couldn't recommend it more highly!

  • The room is very spacious and light. We were comfortable and we had everything we need. Harmony and Joe were welcoming and it was a very easy spot to stay in.

  • I stayed with Harmony for a short trip, but the room was great! Clean, spacious, and a perfect place to stay to get that home feeling while in portland, much more personal than a hotel room.

  • I had such a comforting and cozy stay at Harmony's. I felt like I had my own little treehouse nook. She added some sweet extra touches like organic brownie bars and a pitcher of water by the bed. Great stay, affordable and welcoming.

About
I am a mom of two sweet energetic girls, now 7 and 4. I love cooking, shopping local, and having dance parties with my girls. I like to ride my bike and build my community. I am a graphic designer, my husband, Joe is an artist (oil painting). He also does some awesome carpentry and building. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and 4 chickens, though they don't usually travel with us. We love hosting and meeting new people, we're pretty laid back, but at times our family life gets busy. We're just getting used to traveling as a family, we normally drive and stop a million times before we reach our destination.
