About this listing
Come stay in our attic in our cute little bungalow built in 1917. We have done a lot of work to fix up the place, but will we ever be done? The attic has a twin bed and a full size futon. It is a private room with plenty of light and space. A door closes off the rest of our house, so it is quiet.
There is not a private entrance and the bathroom is shared. Feel free to share our kitchen, we have a juicer, food processor, and a microwave available. We'll have coffee and tea available as well.
This is a home full of life, we have 2 little girls, 2 dogs and 2 cats, plus 4 chickens. So we can sometimes be very busy.
We live across the street from Trader Joe's, near Reed College and Woodstock neighborhood. There is also a Starbucks and a Walgreens just 1 block away. Easy access to downtown by bus. A 5-10 min bus ride can take you to Hawthorne or Division St. shopping areas.
Our neighborhood is great for walking, close to Kenilworth, Creston and Woodstock parks and the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.
You will use our front door to enter and walk through the house to the upstairs. Our bathroom is on the main floor and available to you anytime. The kitchen is available for you as well, please let us know if you plan to use it and we can accommodate you.
Interaction with Guests
We love to chat with our guests and learn a bit about you. If you'd like to keep to yourself that's fine too. Thought, sometimes we get busy and don't have time to talk as much as we'd like to.
Please no smoking. Though we love pets we aren't sure about hosting other animals but we aren't closed to the idea either. We also ask that you are quiet at night, and no additional guests without our consent.
Yes, we were welcomed. Our hosts were very helpful in recommending local restaurants that were close by for dinner and lunch. T
We were so excited to see Portland and Harmony's attic was perfect for us! We explored during the day and went to dinner in the evening. They were very welcoming and easy to get along with. I would have loved t stay a few more days and talk more but time did not allow this trip. I would highly recommend staying here!
Harmony and her family were lovely. She had great suggestions of things to do around Portland, and made us feel very welcome in her home. The house was in a great location for getting to cool shops and fun restaurants, and the room itself was very clean and homey. I would go back in a second!
Very convenient location near Reed College and within walking distance to Trader Joes, though not near the more interesting Portland neighborhoods in terms of shops or eateries. Shared kitchen and bathroom facilities with family of 4 though not much interaction beyond that.
Splendid stay in Portland at Harmony's place! Perfect location for exploring the city. I love that Trader Joe's and Starbucks are a short walk away, and the original Stumptown Coffee Roasters location is a short 5-minute drive. Their attic is cheery and spacious, and I had a wonderful night's sleep. Highly recommended!
About the Host, Harmony
I am a mom of two sweet energetic girls, now 9 and 6. I love cooking, shopping local, and having dance parties with my girls. I like to ride my bike and build my community. I am a graphic designer, my husband, Joe is an artist (oil painting). He also does some awesome carpentry and building. We have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 4 chickens, though they don't usually travel with us ;).
We love hosting and meeting new people, we're pretty laid back, but at times our family life gets busy.
We're just getting used to traveling as a family, we normally drive and stop a million times before we reach our destination.
