Nicely furnished sublet of a traditional Philadelphia row home on a quiet tree-lined street in the heart of the Art Museum area. The two-story house is freshly painted and has 2 bedrooms: the 1st has a queen-sized bed and the 2nd has a twin sized bed with pull-out trundle. There is also 1 bath, central A/C, wireless internet, washer/dryer, hardwood floors in large living/dining room, TV with Netflix and a cozy patio. Kitchen with half-refrigerator. Full freezer in basement. Eclectic decorations include artwork by friends and neighbors as well as textiles from my travels.
Great location: 2 blocks from Philadelphia Museum of Art and short walk to Schuylkill River bike/run path, Boathouse Row, Fairmount Park, Ben Franklin Parkway, Whole Foods, Rodin Museum, The Barnes Foundation and Center City business district. Plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and playgrounds nearby, grocery store two blocks away. Conveniently located to the the 7, 33 and 48 Septa buses. Friendly, residential neighborhood.
Street parking is available and easy to find during the day and on weekends. It can take awhile to find a street parking space after 6PM when people return home from work. Public transportation is easy to use and there is a parking lot ($16/day) about 3 blocks away.
No smoking, no pets. Rental agreement will be required for stays over one month - can be sent on request.
Norma is a delight! She had her neighbor meet us at the house and he showed us everything we needed to know. There was a nice bottle of wine, bag of Tate cookies and various other goodies waiting for us. The bedrooms were nice size and so was the common space. We loved that there is washer/dryer so we didn't have to pack everything. Being there for 9 days was very nice. I loved the ease of the neighborhood and the local pubs and restaurants. The 2 small issues we had were resolved in lighting speed and we would absolutely stay there again.
Norma is a sweet and wonderful person. She made sure she was there to greet us and left very detailed information. The house provided all of the amenities that were included in the description. She also remained available during our entire stay when any issues or questions popped up. Great location right near the Philadelphia Art Museum and the Rodin Museum with easy access to bus lines. A grocery store, pharmacy and many bars and restaurants are all within short walking distance. My family of four was very comfortable for a week stay in the exciting city of Philadelphia!
Ms. Norma was a delightful and informative host that made our family feel welcome in her home. Ms. Norma’s personality and kindness is what makes us continue to use Airbnb for our travel accommodations.
The listing was 100% accurate with additional features not captured in the photos. The home was spacious enough for our family of 3 to comfortably enjoy our stay for two weeks. It would be a little tight if we had a guest however over for the night, but during the day, we can welcome 2-3 guests and we can have a comfortable evening of fun.
The neighborhood was in an ideal location next to all of the activities and conveniences one could ever want in a vacation. The shops, museums, pubs, coffee shops, pharmacies, grocery stores, and transits are all within a 10-15 minute walk from the home. Also the main through way, Benjamin Franklin Parkway was perfect for strolling and viewing the skyline. The neighborhood is safe to walk around in during the day and evenings as it is located near a few public and private schools.
A bonus for us was the Rodin museum about 10 minutes way. I would highly recommend this location for easy access to all that downtown Philadelphia has to offer. We look forward to our next visit.
Norma's place is a cozy townhouse in a great location. Everything was comfortable and convenient - and I appreciated the fruit and coffee and bottle of wine she left for me! Her neighbor greeted me and oriented me to the area, which was so helpful. Another thoughtful touch was the membership card at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which I enjoyed visiting. Also visited the Eastern State Penitentiary, a magnificent ruin that is also a tour of criminal justice theories and how they have changed over time. This was my introduction to Philadelphia, because I will be moving there, and it was the perfect way to experience a neighborhood and this wonderfully walkable city. No criticisms as all, everything was wonderful!
Norma was waiting at the house for us and welcomed us warmly. The house was just as pictured on the website, very charming and in a lovely neighborhood. It was a short walk to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and to the Barnes Foundation. It was great to have Internet access and laundry facilities available in the house. We had a great vacation in Philadelphia and would recommend Norma's place to anyone planning a trip there.
Norma was a wonderful host. She was in contact several times beforehand to make sure my girlfriend and I knew how to get to her place and had everything we needed. It was like having a mother away from home (and I mean that in the best way possible).
The house is very cute and cozy, and the location is fantastic. And a bonus is that the restaurant on the corner down the street, Bridgid’s, is out of this world good. It looks like a sports bar, but looks are deceiving. They make their pasta in-house, and the chef knows what he’s doing turning it into amazing dishes. Highly recommended.
I had a fantastic time in Philadelphia thanks to Norma's hospitality, and would happily stay at her place again.
5 things I can't live without:
- my wonderful family and beautiful grandchildren!
- loving friends and wonderful neighbors
- live theater and inspiring music
- walking and tai chi
- world peace, travel and adventure
