The space
When you arrive at an elevation of 5400 ft, you will be above all of the hustle and bustle of the city below and overlooking the tallest mountains in California. The loft offers everything you would need to embrace nature and with all the comforts of home.

2022 will be a year of rebuilding, community, creative collaboration, and reconnecting with the people we care about most.

Both of us (Matt and Jeff) will be back to The Canopy throughout the season continuing to build new structuresu, and spaces. A large portion of our property was affected by the Creek Fire back in September 2020 as you will see on your drive up, but our property is bouncing back with lots of green and all the big trees survived :)

The 47 Chevy offers a loft with a cozy bed and dimmable lights to make the night time enjoyable and magical. There is a full wrap around deck with a large live edge table to enjoy beautiful sunset dinners. There is a BBQ grill outside and plenty of space to do yoga and lounging during the day and night time. Not kidding, the stars will blow your mind…

The interior has a dimmable lights to set the mood, a couch that converts to a futon, coffee table, and fully equipped kitchen with live edge wood counter top with stove top, kitchen sink and all cooking supplies, pots and pans to cook an amazing meal.

Important things to know before booking. This is an off-grid glamping type of experience that requires a bit preparation, but so incredibly worth it.

1.) SHARED SPACE - Although you will have your own private living space please note our fire pit, yoga deck, look out points, trails, hammock hangout, bathroom (flushing toilet) on bottom half & outhouse on top part, the outdoor shower are shared. There is 20+ acres of space so it never feels crowded. We will give you all the space you need and if you need anything from us just come ask.

2.) OUTDOOR SHOWER - SHOWER IS BACK UP AND RUNNING!! Bring a towel!

3.) BATHROOM - There is two toilets on the land. One by the entrance sign which is a proper bathoom with flushing toilet on the lower half and one 50 feet from the 47 Chevy.

4.) COOLERS - There is no refrigerator. You will be responsible for keeping your food/drinks cold. We will provide the cooler but you will need to bring your own ice for your stay. You are in Nature so take note that there is Wild & Wonderful Animals up there. Leave your coolers inside or in the car & DO NOT LEAVE FOOD OUTSIDE AT NIGHT!

5.) GETTING THERE - The driveway (about 500 ft long) is not paved and is dusty so your car will get dirty. While an SUV or 4x4 has no problem getting up there a sedan takes a little more time and you will need to drive slow. The only car we have seen have trouble getting up are low clearance sportscars and teslas. We re working to make this a more smoother ride!

6.) SHEETS/BLANKETS - We do not have a washer and so can not provide sheets. We ask our guests to bring their own to fit a FULL SIZE BED. We provide a zero degree sleeping bag for two people and a few fleece blankets. If you are using this, you only need to bring pillow cases.

7.) DOGS/CATS - We love the furry friends and pets love it up here. They are more than welcome without an additional charge. We only ask that they do not sleep inside the sleeping bag and have their own blanket or spot to sleep. There is a perfect little couch for pets to sleep inside the house but just please make sure that couch is covered. If they do shed a lot we ask that you clean up after them.

We really encourage your feedback in the Guest Book we have on the land. We also provide a manual with activities to do in town and in the Sierras. Always check what is open before heading to destinations. There is a good chance that if you can dream it, we can build it. We find everyone who comes up sees something different and new that would benefit the space based on each persons unique set of skills and talents. Everything on the land was custom built by ourselves, family, friends and our wonderful guests. Thanks for being apart of the dream !

The community of Pine ridge is whole hearted and a very special place to be a part of. Everyone is very friendly and kind.

Cressman’s store which was burned down is a little stop if you need any little snacks or beers on your way up. Located just prior to the community entrance.

There is a market in Shaver Lake as well as one at the bottom of the valley in Prather (the town is a market, gas station and one restaurant. The market is called Mar-Val Market and we recommend getting all your groceries here.

Mckinley Grove is a small patch of Sequoia Trees about 40 minutes drive from the property that is absolutely beautiful and there is usually no one there.

Hungry Hut - the best spot for burgers, shakes and fries!!

Ken's Market - The spot to get anything you would need for hiking camping and food for meals.

Blue Sky Cafe is a great place located in shaver lake open from 7am- 2pm everyday and has smoothies, sandwiches, coffee and wifi.

Shaver Lake - The closest small town is about 15 minute drive from the land and has a few different restaurants, coffee shops & small grocery stores. The lake is beautiful and has many different areas with small beaches to spend the day.

We are two brothers who grew up playing in the woods building tree-forts in a small town outside Philadelphia. As we spent more time living in cities after college, we knew we needed to create for ourselves and others a place in the mountains where people can stay, explore, play and embrace nature without distractions.

We started building the Canopy in May 2018 in Sierra National Forest. We lost a few structures including our first tiny home in September 2020 from the devastating Creek Fire. We began rebuilding shortly after and thanks to friends family and guests we we're fully recovered in July of 2021. We will be continuing to add new structures, amenities and upgrades to our spaces throughout the coming years.

Holly and Shavs will be up there fully time and available for anything you need. Refilling water, recommendations, etc.

Holly is certified yoga teacher and will be offering morning yoga, mediation, and massages.

Matthew Shawver is an incredible chef and will offering mountain cooked meals to perfection for you.
