Interaction with Guests
When I am around, I enjoy meeting a sharing a bit with guests. Sometimes I am away and there is a house-sitter here. Sometimes I am busy working at the theater or in the midst of a creative project. It varies week by week.
St. Johns feels a bit like its own township (the rebellious little sister of the already rebellious city). The downtown is beyond charming and the neighborhood is working class with more and more artists and cultural creatives moving in. North Portland (NoPo), in general, is a mecca for artists and D-I-Y entrepreneurs.
We are next to a 10 acre frisbee golf park/forest located on the rich peninsula of the Willamette and Columbia rivers, with plenty of accessible green space all around. Forest Park is only a few minutes away (with over 70 miles of recreational trails). Sauvie's Island is also close.
We are 15 minutes from downtown by car (60 minutes by bus) with a bus stop a few blocks away.
-Smoking outside only
-If people are awake, noise is fine. If someone is sleeping, please be quiet.

If you are the last one to leave the house or the last one to go to bed, please make sure all lights are turned off. We keep a dim light on in the kitchen for guests at night, but all others can be turned off.
-Breakfast is D.I.Y.(do it yourself style)-- we provide bread, fruit, eggs, coffee, tea and granola. If you have other breakfast needs, you are welcome to use the refrigerator to store your things.
-Please make sure to wash all your dishes and clean up after yourself in the kitchen before leaving the house.
Mizu was very accommodating to our last minute booking, and the directions and description made our arrival super easy. Her home is beautiful and we were very comfortable there. She was helpful in giving us advice for what to do/where to go in Portland but at the same time we felt our privacy was also respected.
We highly recommend Pok Pok for dinner, and Sweedeedee for breakfast - as well as just wandering the farmers market for samples.
Thanks again, Mizu!
The room was decent size and I LOVED sleeping in the king bed as the mattress firmness was perfect for me! I've stayed in a few airbnb places so far and the Portland Urban Farm had the most 'lived in' feel to it. This room is right off the kitchen, so it's possible to hear kitchen sounds if you're a light sleeper, but it wasn't an issue for me as I had to get up and out early this visit. The bathroom was good size and on the other side of the kitchen. The host was not home during my visit, so I didn't have any interactions with her.
Here was really nice place relaxing. Nice clean bedroom and vintage furnitures were in each rooms. Quiet and cozy.
We arrived there at night then we couldn't meet the host when arriving, but we met her next morning. She wad kind and friendly. Everything was just right, not too much. We really felt like home.
The arriving day, we took taxi to get there because it was night and we have luggages it wax almost 40 dollars. We took bus to go to downtown the next morning, it took about less one hour so not good the location but quite nice and cozy place for us.
We had a wonderful and unique experience staying in the Portland Urban Farm. Mizu was unfortunately out of town, but her husband John Marc was a perfect host. We had delicious farm fresh eggs, homemade jam, toast, French Press coffee, and fresh fruit every morning. John Marc gave us maps and tips and made us feel very welcome in his home. He is a great conversationalist with a positive spin on life and its simple pleasures. He even showed us the canning process he was involved in at the time-an added treat! The bed was incredibly comfortable and the house was charming. Their home is very convenient to downtown as well as to the nature opportunities of Portland. I'd definitely recommend this home to anyone visiting Portland.
My girlfriend and I had such a great time staying with Mizu and John Marc, and their animal friends too. Their house is very homey, the king size bed was really comfortable, and they provided everything that we needed. And, as promised, there were fresh eggs from their chickens and other fresh foods offered as well. Both Mizu and John Marc were very helpful and provided some good (website hidden). John's neighborhood is just big enough that you could have a relaxing few days there without venturing far. And you can also take any number of buses to connect with lightrail trains or buses to anywhere in (website hidden). John's has some great restaurants, food trucks, bars, little shops, easy walking, and we discovered a new brewery with a taproom. As all of the other positive reviewers have said, this is a wonderful place to stay with wonderful hosts as well.
Mizu's home was a wonderful place to stay on our first night in Portland. The king sized bed was comfortable and the room, very private.
With the breakfast ingredients provided we made a lovely meal: eggs, fresh bread, plum butter & coffee/tea options. We really felt like we were in a bed & breakfast. Thank you Mizu!
