Experience creation/destruction and the calm between. In 2018 lava crossed over 1/3 of our farm and came within 10 feet of our house creating a stunning contrast of lush landscapes set in austere lava fields. We are located on the edge of a "Kipuka", (a land area surrounded by lava) just above the newest black sand beach at Pohoiki and the thermal hot ponds. Come enjoy a perfect place to relax and stay local. Please note: Delays in road restorations make getting here an adventure in itself.

The Studio

Thoughtfully designed studio with independent ocean view lanai. Serene bespoke hanging bed and Al Fresco dining area.

Inside comfortable Queen Bed, with ocean view , seating area, small fully stocked kitchen and spacious bathroom with walk in shower.

Private entrance on the ground floor. We live on the second floor.

Good wifi and TV with Firestick and Netflix.

We are sustainably 100% off -grid, we make power from the sun, and catch rain for our water; but you might not notice as we have a state of the art solar system and all the normal things you would expect in any home.

A note on drinking water: we triple filter our water using a sediment, charcoal and a final filter that is called "Quantum Disinfection" it kills 99.9% bacteria, virus, cysts, algae, yeast, etc.
No need to buy plastic bottled water as it is safe to drink.

Take in the captivating ocean vistas, swirling volcanic flows and the infinite night sky while you dine al fresco on your private lanai or recline on the outdoor hanging bed .

We are on a small hill open to the ocean and sunrise vistas. We do not have AC but are always comfortable. We almost always have lovely caressing breezes that help keep temperatures comfortable and mosquitos at a bare minimum.

We also have the normal coqui frogs and various bugs you would expect in Hawaiian nature. Inside is fully screened with ceiling fans for extra cooling should you need them .

With your booking we include a farm tour and talk story about our experience living here for the last 20 years . We also give taste and samples of anything we have growing in season. Although we are not a commercial farm we usually have plenty of things to try . Just let us know if you are interested. You are also free to roam the farm and sit in the garden chairs .

Getting Around:
Please Note: Due to distances we do not recommend our place as a base for traveling all around the island.

Although we are close to Pahoa Town in miles, what use to be a 10 minute drive is now closer to a 35 minute, albeit, stunning drive .

From Pahoa you travel through the jungle, then along the coastal Red Road to Issac Hale Beach Park and then up Pohoiki Rd to the end where the lava crosses the road.

When you arrive at the end of Pohoiki Rd you will need to transverse over a short private lava road and through two gates. Your rental car should have no issues as long as it has normal clearance. Exact directions will be given after booking we just want to make sure guest are fully aware of distances .

The newest black sand beach at Pohoiki Bay ( Issac Hale Beach Park) is just a few minutes down the road ; while not safe for swimming there are lovely tidal thermal hot springs, picnic areas, and walks along the shore.

Our Kipuka includes about 8 seperate small farms that survived the 2018 Kilauea eruption. We also own an additional 5 acres across the road where our former home/farm was destroyed during that eruption .

We share the private lava road access with the neighbors while we wait for Pohoiki Road to be restored. This location is very private and remote. Surrounded by stunning lava formations and steam vents from the 2018 eruption . The entire area is off the grid, most properties are over 5 acres .

Kehena beach and Kalapana Saturday market are 20 to 25 mins away down the beautiful red

Aloha my partner Sevyn and I have lived on Pohoiki Rd since 2005 . After the 2018 Kilauea Eruption we took off and traveled the world but eventually ended up right back here where we started. We have been working hard for the last 2 years to bring our farm back to life and are ready to share our home and local experience .

Included in your stay we offer a tour of our small farm , and samples of our macadamia nuts and other fruits that may be in season.
One side of our 6 acre farm is a sea of abundant green the other side a sea of swirling black lava from 2018 eruption. Just beyond is the deep blue pacific ocean. Feel free to roam .
We live on the second floor, and are generally available. The Ohana is seperate and private with its own entrance on the ground floor. There can be some sound crossover between upstairs and down but we feel the levels are acceptable.
