History:
the Nine Mile Motel (now the Nine Mile Lakeside Cottages Resort) was a lumber camp in the late 1870s to 1918 at which time it became a motel, gas station, and lunch stop. The cottages were the original accommodations for the lumberjacks and were moved from the front of the lake to the area between the Nine Mile Creek and the lake where they now stand. Cottage 12 is attached to one side of the original barn where lumber and farming equipment was stored. At one time, this Cottage was a little restaurant and luncheonette. It faces the lake at an angle and the creek runs behind it.

More info.:
- Many of our guests come to stay with us to enjoy stargazing under some of the darkest skies on the east coast. Many go to Cherry Springs State Park (just 19 miles from our property) and then come "home" to the Nine Mile for more stargazing from the front of their cottage, over our beautiful lake. We ask that you drive slowly when coming to your cottage, for the safety of our other guests.
- There is a lot of wildlife at the Nine Mile. It is not uncommon to see mice, various birds, bears, deer, turkeys, amphibians of all types, insects of all types, coyotes, mink, and much more. If you are afraid of wildlife, this is not the place for you.
- This is a historic and beautiful site that we are currently renovating. The cottages are 140 years old and we are working hard to keep The Nine Mile open for people to enjoy while we perform needed repairs and upgrades. We appreciate your understanding as you enjoy our property.
- Please be sure to read our "House Rules" as well as our Guidebook, linked within each listing

Even More Info.:
Bring the necessities and picnic near the lake or visit any of the many nearby restaurants offering a wide range of menus.
Individual cottages, painted Boston red with white trim comprise the Nine Mile. Each is different and unique in some way. Returning guests soon find a favorite to call their own.
Summer daytime temperatures in the valley reach the 80s and it's a rare occasion that the thermometer hits 90. At twilight, warm temperatures are displaced by cool breezes that flow down the mountain sides. It's never too hot for a good night's sleep in Potter County.
The Nine Mile is part of a secluded tract in the northern section of the 264,000 Susquehannock State Forest.
Our close proximity to many beautiful state parks like Cherry Springs and Lyman Run have made us a destination for generations of stargazers, hunters, and anglers alike. Potter County boasts some of the best waters for fishing and the darkest skies for stargazing on the east coast!
Guests come here to "unplug" from society and return to nature. There is no Wi-Fi or TV in the cottages. Cooking is permitted in the shared pavilion over an open fire or on your fire pit. Please bring your own cooking supplies and utensils. We have canoes, and kayaks for rent so that you can explore our small, private lake during your stay.
Mountain vacation or weekend getaway, we have the perfect cottage for you!
