The space
We very recently purchased our dream home, a charming and quirky antique house from 1764, and we can't wait to share it with you! Some important notes before we get to the fun stuff:

- We very much subscribe to the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi. In other words, we seek to find and create beauty in imperfection. With that said, know we are a work-in-progress, lovingly restoring this old place day by day.

- After purchasing the property this spring, we hustled to give our guest suites and guest dining room a little cosmetic face lift prior to our opening for Summer 2021. We are planning to begin a serious restoration this winter, after the summer rental season is over (you can expect prices to rise next season). However, you may notice us working on beautifying the rest of our house during your stay (such as painting the exterior, rebuilding garden walls, etc). Other than a little eyesore here and there, we do not anticipate this work will disrupt your stay.

- This place is magical, but quirky, due to it's long history as a mixed-use commercial and residential space. It has seen many lives as an art gallery, antique shop, a restaurant and even a sea merchant's home! Guests must be able to traverse a narrow staircase for guestroom access; very tall guests will need to be mindful of low head clearance in some parts of the house. As with any antique Cape Cod property, all guests need to watch their step on uneven surfaces indoors and out.

Dreamy, ethereal, romantic, otherworldly. This is how our friends and family who've visited us so far describe being here. Sip a frosty beer or cup of Sake in one of our courtyards. Meander under the trees of our miniature arboretum. Sample berries from our orchard. Mediate to the of the sound of a trickling waterfall in the koi pond as our Sarasa goldfish float on by. Seek respite from the sun under the grape arbor, or whilst swinging gently in the hammock chair under a 300- year old mulberry tree. Get lost in the beauty of our stained glassed windows. Enjoy a breakfast in the dining room or courtyard of locally-sourced goodies from our garden, neighbors' farmstands and local bakeries. Prepare yourself some tea or Nespresso in the guest dining room. Bring your yoga mat and master your warrior pose on your private deck (Engawa suite only) or in the tatami room (Tatami suite in-room only). Pick up a small antique vase or locally made beeswax candle for your mom, or splurge on a masterfully-built Nakashima-style dining table from our on-site gallery.
