Where to go for that peaceful retreat? Look no further than our humble gîte! Sip coffee on the porch, feel the breeze and hear the wind among the trees. Adventures by day: hike, fish or day trip to Grand Marais! The bike trail puts much in reach, jog to Gooseberry, bike to Split Rock, or stroll to Thompson Beach. In the evening the full kitchen is a dream for a foodie, or head fifteen minutes to a brewery. Before bed put up your feet, play a game, read a book, or doze by the fireplace’s heat.

The space

1950’s one bedroom cabin, about ten feet off of Lake Superior. The property has a long driveway leading down to the garage above which is an in-laws apartment. Follow the wooden walkway 100 feet down to the cabin.

You’ll pass through the screened in porch where you can sit in the rocking chairs, read, and enjoy the breeze off of the lake.

Entering the house you find the full kitchen big enough to comfortably cook a thanksgiving meal and a four-person dining table.

The living room is very spacious with a large gas fireplace, panoramic views, and comfortable couch (admire the timeless 90’s plaid pattern :-). No other houses are visible from the property so you’ll have lots of privacy while you enjoy the lake.

The bedroom has a view East over the water and a queen size bed. The hide-a-bed is easy, comfortable and queen size. There is a door between the living room and the rest of the house for privacy.

We may be at the apartment above the garage during your visit. If you want to meet us and get suggestions on what to do during your visit we are more than happy to chat and help. However, if you are looking for a private get-away, we will stay out of your way. There are only two small windows facing the garage from the cabin so you may not even notice we are there.

Where you’ll be

Two Harbors, Minnesota, United States

We love to take short morning strolls around the 4 acre property and up the driveway to the road. For a little bit more of a walk we are immediately adjacent to Thompson Beach state park and we walk down to the pebble beach and out to its peninsula.

For a little more exercise and adventure we may walk a mile to Gooseberry Falls via the bike trail at the head of the driveway. Split Rock park and lighthouse are only seven miles east of us.

For fishing, the Baptism River (a stocked stream) is only 20 minutes by car. Trad rock climbing is popular at Palisade Head 15 minutes East.

15 minutes to the West Two Harbours has solid restaurant options, Cedar Coffee and Castle Danger Brewery tap house.

When we’re in the mood for a day trip we head 45 minutes down to Duluth, 1h20m to canoe at Sawbill Lake in the Boundary Waters, or 1h30m up to Grand Marais.
