We are located a short distance from downtown Vancouver in the much quieter Cedar Cottage community (about 10 minutes by car). Our home is at the intersection of many transit options, so getting around is very convenient. There are two Skytrain stations within walking distance (about a 10 minute walk), or you can jump on one of several nearby buses that connect with Skytrain stations (#25 to Nanaimo Station comes every 10 minutes and is only a block away, #33 stops 1/2 a block away and connects to Canada Line for easy access to Richmond and YVR Airport). There are also several bus stops within a block (#25, #33, #19) that can take you directly to downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park, Metrotown Shopping Center as well as other connections to just about anywhere you can think of. Even Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are easily accessible by transit. The #20 bus heads directly to eclectic Commercial Drive (~5 min away) which is full of trendy shops, restaurants and hipster hangouts.
My partner and I live here along with her curious and friendly son (6 years old) and we occasionally have a couple students or other AirBnBers staying with us. Sometimes we make dinner for whoever is home when conditions allow and you are welcome to join us if you happen to be around. Otherwise, we will mostly provide you with privacy but if you have any questions or need assistance there is almost always someone around, please don't hesitate to ask.
If the dates you want are available, book it immediately to avoid losing your priority! We'll let you know if there is any conflict. If the dates you want show up as not available, please check with us as there are often cancellations and other options that the calendar does not show.
Please be respectful, this is our home. We want you to enjoy your stay, so please treat our home as if it were your own – or better ;) – and I'm sure we'll all get along just fine. A few other minor points to highlight:
No smoking in the house (smoking is permitted outside)
Please be tidy (dirty dishes in the dishwasher, if you spill something - clean it up, etc.)
Absolutely no parties
No guests without prior approval
Out of respect for others, please try to keep noise levels down between 11PM - 10AM
Enjoy your stay!
My stay was perfect! Brad sent me very detailed instructions about the check-in process 2 days before my trip and also texted me to make sure I understood how the keyless entry worked. The lights on the outside house and main foyer were generally always on as soon as it got dark which was great as I arrived later in the evening! The bedding was clean, soft, and the room was spotless on my arrival, and there were ample towels for my stay. A housekeeper came halfway through to refresh my linens which I wasn't expecting and definitely appreciated! There was lots of closet and drawer space as well. I loved having my own bathroom and the charger for the iPod and clock were greatly appreciated. The neighbourhood was pretty quiet and felt safe, and was only a 2-5 min walk to bus routes all over Vancouver. Brad was lovely to talk to and very quick to reply to my messages. Will definitely stay here again!
My partner and I stayed in the master suite for a weekend trip to Vancouver and overall the experience was excellent. Brad was extremely responsive, providing all necessary details prior to our check-in, and made good recommendations for activities during our stay.
I don't know the age of the house, but it is in excellent condition, with recently updated bathrooms, appliances and fireplace. The master suite does have it's own bathroom, and a large closet. We had no trouble sleeping. The there was very little noise level in the house, even with other guests on the same floor. The neighborhood is fairly quiet too. Great location for busing or driving downtown.
Brad has been hosting airbnb for years, and it really shows in the details, such as providing extra large towels, keyless lock on the main door, the illuminated house number to make it easy to find in the night, and the prompt responses before arrival. I should also mention, we actually burned one of the bed sheets with a hair straightener. It was an accident on our part, which I felt terrible about, but when we discussed it with Brad he was calm and professional. Overall we had a great time and highly recommend staying here.
Brad was quick to respond once we booked our stay. We never met Brad but found our room comfortable for the 2 days we were there, and the location was an easy trip to Center City and points of interest. Some might find the bedroom a bit small but with the living room and kitchen was entirely comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet, esp. at night.
Brad is a good host and helps a lot in finding what is fun at the time you are in the city.
The house and the suit we had were nice and tidy.
We just had a problem with the TV set that seems was out of his control at that time, although you won't find that much time in Vancouver to watch TV.
Thanks Brad for your hospitality.
My first go with airbnb and wasn't disappointed. Brad was a gracious and helpful host. The room was great and he took the time to help orient us to the city, give directions, and his house was easily accessible to Richmond and downtown Vancouver. Appreciated the fan in the room as well as it was a little humid the days we were in BC. Definitely recommend a stay here!
We've sent the booking request on a very short notice and Brad answered right away with the confirmation and a superb information e-mail. He is a perfectly organized Airbnb host. We were very busy with exploring the city so we had only a small chat with Brad. We enjoyed the stay in the Master Suite very much. It's a beautiful room with a comfy bath. We highly recommend his house.

About the Host, Brad
I've traveled a fair amount, but I'm always happy to return home to beautiful Vancouver. Some of my favorite places so far include; Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Costa Rica, Turkey, and Japan. I have many more yet to get to, and many more favorites to discover.
I'm pretty easy going and like meeting new people and hearing about their travels. I've already added several destinations to my "bucket list" based on our guests. I also enjoy some of the best things in life; such as football, snowboarding, a good movie (which is unfortunately rare), I hate television (but admit that Breaking Bad is awesome), and love a few video games. I think we are living through the most fabulous period of human existence and really think we should all just lighten up a bit.
As a host, I will pretty much let you decide what kind of experience you want. If you want to hang out and talk, I'm all for it but if you prefer to do your own thing and hang out in your room, that's cool too. I've lived in Vancouver my entire life, so I should be able to answer any question or make some suggestions for you, no matter what your looking for.
As a traveller, I usually don't have much of a plan. I prefer to meander and find the places that the locals enjoy. I often have no idea what I'm looking for until I'm standing right in the middle of it. I'd love any suggestions you may have!
Life motto? Really? Well, Steve Jobs adopted the best motto from the last issue of The Whole Earth Catalog, and I like to keep good company, so I'll say what he would say:
"Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish"
