This was a great place to stay and allowed us to feel like real locals, not Ex-Pats or tourists. It was like staying in the guest cottage of a favorite family member, not like being a tourist. Quite a treat! Cathy and Eddie certainly made us feel welcome and valued. The deck is beyond wonderful and we spent a lot of time on it enjoying the view (great!), watching the sunsets, and soaking in the native vegetation, animals and birds. They had a hummingbird feeder hanging there and a resident Purple-throated Carib hummingbird was very entertaining and not at all shy. There were Bananaquits gleaning along the leaves and opening fruit of the banana trees in the yard and a shy Agouti who came out early in the day. Eddie picked some Tamarind pods from a tree in the yard and showed us how to eat them - neat! There is a nice collection of books and other information about the island. The bedroom has screened windows and a nice fan. There was a constant breeze and we never felt too hot. The fridge and cabinets had the kinds of things that make a stay easier : condiments, tea, coffee, margarine and much more. What is there will vary according to recent guests but it was all very nice (again more like staying in the guest house of a friend). Have Eddie show you the short cut path across the ghaut to Angelo's (grocery store) - this will make your life easier! This cottage is just north of Brades (next small ridge over) which is essentially the biggest town on Montserrat now, so you are centrally located (unlike other tourist properties down the side of the island toward the former town of Plymouth). We stayed here without a car and it was fine, though it helped that we really like walking. Many folks would like to have a car. The hills are steep!! Note, walking uphill from the cottage takes you to a nice shaded cut-across road to Cudjoe Head, a nice alternative to walking downhill and coming out by Tina's restaurant. There are several good walking trails quite nearby - again, you do need to LIKE hiking to walk to them and then hike on them. It is also possible to walk down to Little Bay, from where you can kayak to Rendezvous Bay for some great snorkeling. The north end of the island also has some neat, more adventurous hiking. Plan at least one breakfast at Hilltop, Saturday is currently waffle day. David Lea has a great historical collection from Plymouth and more. This cottage is not luxurious, but allows you to experience island life just as the locals do. The bed was good, everything in the kitchen worked, and the location is really cool!

Eddie and Cathy made us feel very welcome and were very attentive hosts. Eddie met us at the airport and provided great ginger beer ( and other supplies) in the fridge! The cottage is as described online basic but homely with terrific views across to Redonda. Internet worked well which was important for us as we were on a work visit. Thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay in Eddie and Cathy's. The house has everything you need and lovely views. Eddie picked us up from the airport and took us to the police to get the local driving license. They also sorted our car hire. The wifi wasn't working when we arrived and they made sure it was working as soon as we told them. They also left some cheese, bread, milk and drinks for us on the fridge. Thanks for everything!

Cathy and Eddies' cottage is a gem on the crown that is the island of Montserrat. The location is close to the ferry and airport, as well as shops and activities. The Buffonges were kind and accommodating with helping us arrange excursions. The cottage is simple, yet clean and charming, with a delightful view off the front porch of the water and the surrounding area. Highly recommended!

We stayed for two Nights in the cottage and it was Great. Cathy and Eddy were Great hosts! We got picked up from the airport and we got Informations about the Island. The cottage looks excactly like the pictures in Airbnb. Nothing to complain. If you go to Montserrat, take a rental Car, because it is to Hilly to walk around.

We had an absolutely lovey time at sea view cottage. The villa is clean, spacious and airy, set in a well cared for garden with banana and papaya trees with a large west facing verandah with great views over the valley and down to the ocean. We loved hanging out there watching the hummingbirds, bananaquits and finches feeding as we had breakfast and drinking cocktails as the sun went down into the sea with the island of Redonda silhouetted on the horizon. Eddie picked us up from the boat and popped in each day to check whether we needed anything. He and Cathy were brilliant hosts and great ambassadors for and representatives of Montserrat which we have found to be the friendliest island in the caribbean.
