Our house fronts Birchgrove Park, 10 minutes west of Sydney CBD. Mostly very quiet & always beautiful. Ground floor double room w/ensuite, private entrance, v. comfortable foldout double bed, north-facing verandah with harbour views. Surrounded by parkland.
We live in a quiet street facing Birchgrove Oval, a jewel of a park with sparkling Sydney Harbour on the other side. 15 minute bus or ferry ride to the City just a few minutes' walk from our front door.
Your room has its own private entrance and access to the front verandah, facing north overlooking Birchgrove Park and Sydney Harbour.
There is a small fridge, a toaster and a kettle. There are plates, cups, glasses, bowls and cutlery. We provide a teapot, coffee plunger, coffee, tea, milk and sugar, and some delicious local granola, but you need to provide any other food. There is no microwave.
We also provide an international to Australian plug converter.
Entry is up a few steps from the street, then your room is on the ground floor. Access from the park at the side is up only one small step.
There's a cafe, laundromat and corner shop and local pub a few minutes' walk from the house.
Ferry and bus to the city within a few minutes walk.
Interaction with guests
We will welcome you and provide ample information about the neighbourhood and access to other parts of the city. We will be available as needed to help with any problems as we live in the house to which this self-contained room is attached.
Other things to note
During the winter season there is soccer and rugby at weekends on the Oval in front of our house, but it's all over by late afternoon and the neighbourhood reverts to its usual blissful calm. Tuesday - Friday evenings there is soccer practice 4 - 9 pm.
This sometimes makes parking an issue during these times.
Summertime means weekend cricket (2nd grade) but it's a very modest affair with no impact on residents.
Commonsense; respect the neighbours; not too much noise after 10.30 pm please.
No smoking inside
I'm a Health Policy Professional and my wife is a registered Psychologist. We have travelled extensively in Asia and Europe and look forward to welcoming guests from all over the world (including Australians of course!) We are part of a multicultural family which includes Italian, Chinese, English and French ties.
We go to the movies a lot, eat out regularly (usually in and around Balmain) and have many close relationships with neighbours around the suburb.
